1.A Study on ttie Biomechanical Body Segment parameters of Korean Adults.
Korean Journal of Physical Anthropology 1996;9(1):91-99
This study is to determine the biomechanical characteristics of Korean adults. Male 32 and female 28 were participated for the measurement which was performed by immersion method and reaction board method. Body segments were head with neck, trunk, upper arm, forearm, hand, thigh, leg and foot. Their volumes were measures by immersion method. Their weight were determined by using Dempster (1955), Drills and Contini (1969) density data. Each COM (center of mass) of body segment weight were determined by specific posture on the reaction board. The postures were asked to the subject total arm-lifted posture, forearm-lifted posture, total leg-lifted posture, leg-lifted posture. According to each posture, the COM of each segment were calculated. Also, center positions of mass according to posture change were estimated. The results were compared with cadaver data from Dempster (1955), Cluaser (1969), Matsui (1958) which are applied very often and also bio data from Lim (1994) and Jung (1993) on Korean adults.

2.A Study on Comparison of the Physical Growth between the Korean and the Japanese Young Adults(18-29 yrs.).
Korean Journal of Physical Anthropology 1995;8(1):19-29
The physical conditions of the Korean and the Japanese young adults (aged 18-29) were analyzed for the 10 important body dimensions such as stature, body weight, sitting height, chest circumference, and etc.. The Korean data published in 1979 and 1992 were compared with the Japanese data published in 1984 and 1994, respectively. Also, the physical developments and the sex differences of the Korean in past 13 years were compared with those of Japanese. The results are as follows. 1) The stature, sitting height and perineum height of the Korean young male and female are significantly smaller than those of the Japanese. 2) In the past, the chest circumference, waist circumference, hip circumference, body weight of the Korean are larger values than those of the Japanese. But, there are no significant differences in recent surveys. 3) Most body dimensions of male show significantly larger than those of female in the two countries. 4) There is no significant difference in thigh circumference between the Korean male and female in 1992. 5) There are no significant differences in thigh circumference between the '84 Japanese male and female and in hip circumference between the '94 Japanese male and female. 6) Compared with the results of the past surveys, the relative body weight, perineum height, and chest circumference of female to male are decreased in the two countries. But, the relative hip circumference of female to male are increased in both countries.

3.Bone Tunnel Enlargement after Endoscopic ACL Reconstruction by Autogenous Bone - Patellar Tendon - Bone Graft.
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1998;33(7):1728-1736
Radiographic increase in the size of tibial and femoral tunnels has been observed following the reconstruction of the ACL with a bone-patellar tendon-bone autograft. The purpose of this study is to determine if any differences exist in the amount of enlargement of the bone tunnel with the clinical results and to know the factors which affected to the enlargement of the bone tunnels. Total 27 patients were retrospectively reviewed for tunnel enlargement radiographically at one year after operation. Anteroposterior and lateral x-ray were obtained and the tunnel were measured by two independent observers. The measurements were made at the widest part of the tunnel. The distance between tibial interference screw and knee joint line also measured. Correction for magnification was performed by comparing the measured width of the interference screw used for fixation of the graft with its actual width. Statistical analysis was performed with Wilcoxon rank sum test. The radiographic tunnel enlargement was an average of 1.7+/-1.3mm for the femur and 1.9+/-0.8mm for the tibia. The proximal migration of the tibial interference screw was an average of 2.3++/-1.1 mm. There was no statistically significant correlation between the changes in tunnel diameter and either the modified Hughston knee score, Lysholm knee score, or the joint laxity measured by a KT-2000 arthrometer, Lachman test. There were no correlations between the mild proximal migration of the tibial interference screw and the clinical results. Conclusively, the tunnel enlargement and mild proximal migration of the interference screw did not appear to affect the functional outcome adversely. It needs longer follow up for the evaluation of etiology and natural history of this tunnel enlargement.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1988;26(5):629-635
The present study was carried out to find a simple and safe in. vitro test for phtotoxic drugs. Authors selected two strains of Salmonella typhimurium(TA98 and TA102) which have been used in Ames test for the detsction of mutagenecity af various chemical substances. Both strains are genuine products of genetic enzineering. The etrain TA98 should be highly vulnerable to ultraviolet radition because it lacks normal I)NA excision repair gene. The strain TA102 was chosen as control since it maintained the DNA repair gene. These strains were subjected to increasing dosea of UVA with or without pretreatment of 8 methoxypsoralsn(8-MOP) which is a prototype of photatoxic druge. The authors made use of a perforated stain-less steel template which provided a simple and eosy monitoring of ultraviolet irradiation effects i.e. clear zones due to inhibition of the atrains could be determined. By using this methad, the authors acquired the following results .' I. 8-MOP alone exerted no inhibition on both strains at concentration upto 100mg /ml. 2. UVA irradiation alone showed no growth inhibition at dose upto 5J/cm. 3. UVA irradiation after pretreatment with 8 MOP resulted varying growth inhibition in proportion to irradiation doses. 4. Authors found a suitable concentration of 8-MOP for this test is 10pg/ml. With this ccncentrstion, minimal phatatoxic dose of UVA were O.l J/cm for the strain TA98 and 1.0J/cm for the strain TA102 respectively.

10.Hepatic Changes Resembling the Indian Childhood Cirrhosis in an IgM anti-CMV Positive Infant.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1987;21(2):90-93
This is to describe a neonatal hepatitis with pericellular hepatic fibrosis and Mallory bodies in a sero-positive infant for IgM anti-CMV. A necropsy of the liver revealed severe heaptocellular swelling with many intracytoplasmic hyaline bodies, pronounced fibrosis of a creeping type, bile stasis with ductular proliferation, and the lack of parenchymal regeneration. These microscopical changes of the liver resembled those of Indian Childhood Cirrhosis (ICC). In the present case the patient's serum IgM anti-CMV is the only clue for the etiological diagnosis.
