1.Effects of Sodium Alginate on the Non-Specfic Defense System of the Common Carp ( Cyprinus carpio L. ).
Korean Journal of Immunology 1999;21(1):71-76
Carp which receive intraperitoneal injections of sodium alginate show a high survival rate after being challenged with Edwardsiella tarda. To elucidate the immunoenhancement by sodium alginate, its effects on the non-specific defense system of carp were investigated. Sodium alginate had little influence either on the activity of the alternative complement pathway or on the phagocytic and respiratory burst activities of head kidney phagocytes (HKP), yet it greatly enhanced the migration of HKP to the peritoneal cavity (the site of injection) and concurrently elevated their phagocytic activity. The number of phagocytes mobilized by sodium alginate was 2 to 50 times greater than that by the well-known peritoneal exudate cell-eliciting agents when injected at the same dose. Accordingly, it is highly probable that the early elimination of challenge bacteria by such mobilized and activated phagocytes was responsible for the high survival rate of the alginateinjected fish. In chemotaxis assays, it was revealed that sodium alginate stimulated sorne leukocyte subpopulation (s) within the peritoneal cavity to produce and/or secrete chemotactic factor (s), while concurrently enhancing the sensitivity of HKP to the factor (s).

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1997;35(2):358-361
Cambison ophthalmic ointment is an easily available topical medicament in Korea, However, the allergic contact dermatitis lo Cambison ophthalmic ointment has not been reported in Korean dermatology literature. We report, a case of allergic contact dermatitis in a 28-year-old female who suffered from itchy, erythematous patches on both periorbital areas. She wore contact lenses and for the last year, she hac applied Cambison ophthalmic ointment to both periorbital areas. The skin lesions were aggravated gradually. A patch test showed positive reactions to Cambison ophthalmic ointment, neomycin, mercury and thimerosal. We suspect neomycin contained in Cambison ophthalmic ointment to be the etiologic agent. When contact dermatitis occurs on periorbital areas, topical ophthalmic ointment or lens cleaner may be considered as a causative agent.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1970;8(2):59-62
The author observed one case of typical Linear bassal cell nevus who was 3 year old girl. Since birth, skin lesions reveal a linear band like nodules along the left lateral margin of nose, which are consists of pinhead sized, normal skin colored, pearly and translucent papules. Histopathologically, the preparations showed muItifocal irregular masses of basal type epithelial cells in continuity at pilosebaceous follicles and the cells were oval or spindle shaped and a peripheral palisade arrangement. But comedones and nevus cells were not identified. Diagnosis confirmed by clinical appearance, histopathologically and other clinical study. There were marked improvement by the locaI application of 2% 5-Fluorouracil solution.

Korean Journal of Physical Anthropology 1995;8(2):175-184
This paper shows anthropometric differences among four regions of urban community using Korean anthropometric data surveyed in 1992. The anthropometric data include 84 measurements of Korean aged 12~50. The principal component analysis reduce 84 measures to five components. The discriminant analysis using these components is performed to observe the anthropometric differences among four regions : Seoul and Kyungki, Kangwon and Chungbuk, Chungnam and Ch lla, Kyungsang. The results on age groups (12~14, 15~17, 18~24, 25~50 ages) and city size (big city, medium city, small city) can be summarized as follows ; 1) In male aged 12~14 and 15~17, there are significant differences of anthropometry among four regions in all city size. But in another age groups (18~24 and 25~50 ages), these are not significant differences of anthropometry among four regions except medium city. 2) In female, there are significant differences of anthropometry in all city sloe in aged 18~24 and 25~50 and in medium city in aged 15~17. however, there are not significant differences in aged 12~14 and 15-17.

Journal of the Korean Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery 1999;5(2):377-389
Botulium toxin A has been used therapeutically in humans for over 20 years for a variety of medical indications. Some wrinkle and unsightly facial expressions are due to hyperkinetic muscle. For the past year, the author has injected it for variant purpose, so we describe the our experience with the variant extended use of the toxin including correction for just dynamic wrinkle, used with subperiosteal face lifting or peeling, post-traumatic twitching, and facial paralysis and relevant anatomy are discussed. Also we have another concept about muscle anatomy which have superficial and deep portion. The superficial portion is for harmonious action with SMAS during facial expression, which is also related to fine wrinkle, and the deep portion play role gross movement. Botulium toxin is safe and effective in varient field without complication. Its use is associated with a high degree of patient and physician satisfaction.

Leiomyomatosis peritonealis disseminata is a rare benign condition characterised by the occurrence of multiple leimyomas scatterred throughout the peritoneal cavity, giving the clinical impression of a wide spread malignant tumor. The histopathology of leiomyomatosis peritonealis disseminata is that of a benign leiomyoma, probably originating from the multipotent subcoelomic mesenchymal cells. Three cases with malignant transformation were described among previous reported fifty cases. Many of the early reports described the disorder in premenopausal women, and now the histogenesis is considered to be a metaplastic change by abnormal tissue response to the relatively or absolutely elevated female sex hormone. We report a case of leiomyomatosis peritonealis disseminata, which was diagnosed by multiple scattered submucosal and subseroal leimyomas of stomach, small bowel and colon, combined with advanced gastric cancer in a 58 years old man, Multiple submucosal tumors of the stomach combined with advanced gastric cancer were demonstrated by fibergastroscopy, upper gastrointestinal barium study and abdominal ultrasonography. During radical subtotal gastrectomy multiple submucosal and subserosal tumors of stomach, and subserosal tumors of small bowel and colon were observed and these tumors were confirmed as leiomyoma without malignant potential.

Annals of Dermatology 2002;14(4):204-206
A 31-year-old pregnant woman with pruritus in pregnancy was described; she presented with a one-week history of generalized pruritus at gestational age 6 weeks without primary skin lesion. She had no dermatologic problem before pregnancy. Her pruritic symptom was not con-trolled with conventional emollient and topical corticosteroids. Broadband Ultraviolet B(UVB) phototherapy successfully improved her pruritus. UVB phototherapy also worked well after recurrence of pruritus at pregnancy 23rd week. We report herein a case of pruritus in pregnancy successfully treated with broadband UVB phototherapy.
