Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2005;25(9):659-662
OBJECTIVETo explore the theoretical basis and clinical methods for treatment of cerebrovascular diseases according to the collateral theory.
METHODSConjecture the construction components of the brain collaterals from relative description in Huangdi's Internal Classic and Classic on 81 Medical Problems; and illustrate mechanisms and the pathway of acupuncture and moxibustion in treatment of cerebrovascular diseases according to the theory of collaterals by means of relative theories and conclusions of experimental studies.
CONCLUSION(1) Brain collaterals are composed of collaterals of The Yangming, The Taiyang and The Governor Channels and The Changqian Collateral; (2) rich qi and blood are physiological characteristics of the brain collaterals, and pathological changes of the brain collaterals are a part of collaterals in whole body, "deficiency, toxicity, blood stasis" are pathological basis of lesion of the brain collaterals, "blood stasis" is an important pathological link of lesion of the brain collaterals; (3) acupuncture at relative acupoints of channels, pricking blood therapy at Jing points and blood-letting puncture therapy, low energy laser intravascular irradiation are clinically three effective methods for treatment of cerebrovascular diseases based on the theory of collaterals.

2.Observation on therapeutic effect of abdominal acupuncture on spastic paralysis after cerebrovascular disorder.
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2005;25(11):757-759
OBJECTIVETo observe clinical therapeutic effect of abdominal acupuncture on spastic paralysis after cerebrovascular disorder.
METHODSSixty cases of spastic paralysis after cerebrovascular disorder were randomly divided into an abdominal acupuncture group and a body acupuncture group, 30 cases in each group. They all were treated for 5 times each week, for a 3 consecutive weeks, and then the therapeutic effects were observed.
RESULTSThe spasm in the abdominal acupuncture group improved significantly, but in the body acupuncture group did not significantly improve. The therapeutic effect in the abdominal acupuncture group was significantly better than that in the body acupuncture group.
CONCLUSIONAbdominal acupuncture is a safe and effective therapy for spastic paralysis after cerebrovascular disorder.

4.Expert consensus on technical strategies for interventional treatment of acute large vessel occlusive stroke in China.
Chinese Journal of Internal Medicine 2023;62(8):931-938
Ischemic stroke caused by acute large vessel occlusion is associated with high rates of disability and mortality. Endovascular interventional therapy is evidently an effective treatment for occlusion of large cerebral vessels within the relevant time window, but there is no established methodological standard for recanalization interventional therapy. The Professional Committee of Interventional Neurology in Chinese Research Hospital Association organized cerebrovascular disease experts in China and developed the expert consensus described herein, to provide a reference for clinicians to formulate technical strategies for recanalization of acute cerebral vascular occlusion.

Fel Ursi is a dried product obtained from the gallbladder of Ursidae animals, such as Selenarctos thibetanus or Ursus arctos, through gallbladder surgery for bile drainage. It is one of the rare animal medicinal materials in China and is known for its therapeutic effects, including clearing heat, removing toxins, extinguishing wind, relieving spasms, clearing the liver, and improving vision. Research has also found that Fel Ursi has pharmacological effects against cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and antioxidant stress properties. Recently, numerous studies have confirmed the close relationship between cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and the gut microbiota as well as gut metabolites. Fel Ursi contains bile acid components that may have bidirectional regulatory effects on the gut microbiota and gut metabolites. This aspect could represent a potential therapeutic pathway for Fel Ursi in the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. This article comprehensively summarized relevant literature in China and abroad, reviewed the research progress on the pharmacological effects of Fel Ursi against cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and explored the impact of Fel Ursi on gut microbiota and gut metabolites, thereby aiming to provide references for further in-depth research and clinical application of Fel Ursi.

6.Development of gene therapy in major brain diseases.
Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2010;45(9):1095-1102
In recent years, the development of molecular biology and medicine has prompted the research of gene therapy for brain diseases. In this review, we summarized the current gene therapy approaches of major brain diseases. Against the pathogenesis of major brain diseases, including brain tumors, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and cerebrovascular disorders, there are several effective gene therapy strategies. It is no doubt that, gene therapy, as a novel treatment, is of great significance for understanding the causes, as well as comprehensive treatment for brain diseases.

7.Observation on therapeutic effect of eye acupuncture on cognition disorders in patients of chronic cerebral circulation insufficiency.
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2009;29(10):791-793
OBJECTIVETo observe the therapeutic effect of eye acupuncture on cognition disorders in patients of chronic cerebral circulation insufficiency (CCCI).
METHODSSixty cases were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 30 cases in each group. All patients were treated with oral administration of compound Danshen tablets, and the observation group was treated with eye acupuncture based on the pharmacotherapy and upper energizer area, kidney area, spleen area were selected. Their therapeutic effects were observed after 8 weeks.
RESULTSThe total effective rate of 80.0% in the observation group was better than that of 53.3% in the control group (P<0.05). The score of mini-mental state (MMSE) in the observation group was also higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONEye acupuncture has a good effect on cognition disorders in patients of CCCI and can enhance life quality of the patients.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2012;37(22):3494-3499
Currently, there are many traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) injections for treating ischemic stroke in the market, most of them have the efficacy of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, but their reasonable applications are worth consideration. From the angles of traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine, TCM injections that are commonly used in clinics were detected for their indications and pharmacological effects, compared in terms of their characteristics of clinical application, precautions, prohibition on use, caution and adverse reactions and categorized, in order to help clinicians with reasonable application of TCM injections.

10.Evidence-Based Changes in Devices and Methods of Endovascular Recanalization Therapy.
Cheolkyu JUNG ; Bae Ju KWON ; Moon Hee HAN
Neurointervention 2012;7(2):68-76
The devices and methods of endovascular recanalization therapy (ERT) have been rapidly developed and changed since PROACT II trial. Emerging as a treatment option in addition to intravenous or intra-arterial thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy is currently being further developed and investigated as a potential first-line and stand-alone treatment. This review highlights and summarizes the recent clinical series and trials of the available devices and methods of ERT focusing on the multimodal approach.
