Idiopathic central serous chorioretinopathy is localized detachment of the neurosensory retina in the macula which is commonly seen. However extensive sensory retinal detachment of the posterior role and multiple leaking points are rare characteristics of idiopathic central serous chorioretinopathy. Idiopathic central serous chorioretinopathy with bullous retinal detachment is frequently misdiagnosed and treated improperly. The authors experienced a case of atypical type of idiopathic central serous chorioretinopathy that has bullous retinal detachment and multiple Ieaking points in the both eyes.

In this study, we evaluated the effect of the argon indirect laser photocoagulation for patients with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC), whose leaking points were indentified near the fovea or inside the papillomacular bundle. Among the 99 eyes of CSC, 62 eyes were assigned to group one, in which leaking points were located outside the papillomacular bundle or at more than 500 microdistance from fovea, and 37 eyes were assigned to group two, in which leaking points were located inside of papillomacular bundle or within 500 microdistance from fovea. Among the eyes in group one, 22 eyes had undergone direct laser photocoagulation treatment; among the eyes in group two, 27 eyes undergone indirect laser photocoagulation treatment; the rest 50 eyes were untreated. With theses results, We concluded that indirect laser treatment may not be in shortening the duration of central serous chorioretinopathy or in improving the vision. Its reccurence rate was higher than the rest of the modalities.

Korean Journal of Medicine 2008;75(2):221-224
Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) is an idiopathic disorder characterized by serous detachment of the macula and retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) detachment. Its etiology and pathophysiology are still unknown. However, CSCR can arise secondary to chronic treatment with steroids. We present two cases in which CSCR developed in patients on oral steroid therapy and resolved after treatment was stopped. We also offer a review of the literature.

Stress has been regrarded as one of the causes of central serous chorioretinopathy. We studied the effect of Hexamethonium (ganglionic blocking agent) on experimentaI serous chorioretinopathy following epinephrine injection in rabbits. In group 1, we injected the 0.1 % epinephrine into the rabbits through IV route for 10 days and in group 2, we addited Hexamethonium subcutaneously prior to injection of the epinephrine same term of gorup 1. We could find slight histological changes in gorup 2 as com paired with group 1, which produced serous chorioretinopathy, under the electronmicroscopic study so we would expect the preventive effect of Hexamethonium on the stress-induced serous chorioretinopathy.

10.Factors associated with recurrence rate in patients with Central Serous Chorioretinopathy.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2002;43(7):1186-1191
PURPOSE: To assess the factors associated with recurrence rate with central serous chorioretinopathy patients. METHODS: Retrospective analysis of 73 patients was performed and the clinical manifestation, recurrence rate and visual outcome were analyzed. RESULTS: Fifty-four males and nineteen females were recruited. Mean age of patients was 41.8 years. The disease was bilateral in 5 patients and the mean size of serous detachment was 2.5 disc diameters. Recurrence rate was 47.9% (35 patients). Mean number of leaking point in fluorecein angiography was significantly higher in the recurrence group than that of the non-recurrence group (p=0.01). CONCLUSIONS: The number of leaking point was significantly associated with recurrence rate of the disease.
