West China Journal of Stomatology 2008;26(2):226-228
As one of the most common malignancies of the salivary glands, mucoepidermoid carcinoma had a rare frequency in mandible. A case of central mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the mandible was reported and relevant literatures were reviewed. The possible etiology, clinical symptom, radiology, histopathology, diagnosis and treatment of central mucoepidermoid carcinoma were discussed.

7.Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology of Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma of the Lung: A Case Report.
Korean Journal of Cytopathology 1990;1(2):170-174
The mucoepidermoid carcinoma is a rare tumor in the lung. A case of bronchial mucoepidermoid carcinoma diagnosed by fine needle aspiration cytology is presented. The smear showed many intermediate cells with occasional mucus-secreting cells. Malignant squamous cells were not present. The cellular arrangement of intermediate cells was overlapping and grouped in ball-like fashion. These cytologic features are unique for diagnosis of this tumor.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1991;32(2):219-222
The mucoepidermoid carcinoma on the cornea and conjunctival is so rare that only a few cases have been reported worldwide and no case in Korea. We experienced that a patient whose complaint was a protruding mass on the conjunctiva, after tumor removal it was histologically defined as mucoepidermoid carcinoma. So we report a case of conjunctival mucoepidermoid carcinoma involving the cornea, with reviewing reference.

Journal of the Korean Association of Maxillofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons 1998;20(4):383-383
mucoepidermoid carcinoma is classified as either well, moderately,or poorly differentiated. The criteria used to classify the lesions are discussed, and pathologic features are illustrated. The most important factors in prognosis are: 1. degree of histologic differentiation, and 2. presence or abscence of tumor on the lines of surgical excision. Recurrences rates are correlated with histologic differentiation. Stewart, Foote, and Becker in 1945 coined the term "mucoepidermoid tumor" to discribe an unusual salivary neoplasm containing epidermoid and mucus-secreting cells which was thought to arise in salivsary gland ducts. The treatment of the mucoepidermoid carcinoma is chiefly surgical, although recent data have shown favorable responses to radiation therapy. Currently, surgery followed by radiation treatment is recommended for intermediate-grade and high-grade tumors ; low-grade tumors can be managed by surgery alone. Authors present a case of mucoepidermoid carcinoma managed with wide surgical resection and postoperative irradiation and showing a good clinical result with review of literatures.]]>

A 57-year-old woman with a 2-year history of a left infra-auricular mass with no associated symptoms presented with a 6.0 cm ´ 4.0 cm ´ 3.0 cm firm, non-tender, movable mass. No imaging was done. Fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) revealed sheets of epithelial cells that had abundant dense grayish-blue cytoplasm in a mucinous background with abundant lymphocytes (Figure 1), suggestive of salivary gland neoplasm with oncocytic or oncocytoid features (Category IVB, Salivary Gland Neoplasm of Uncertain Malignant Potential).Total parotidectomy revealed a 4.3 X 3.2 X 3.0 cm deep lobe lesion with a tan-grey to dark brown, smooth and dull external surface. Cut sections showed a cream-white to pink, lobulated, heterogenous cut surfaces. Microscopically, the lesion was unencapsulated with poorly demarcated borders. The neoplastic cells were arranged in haphazard sheets and surrounded by abundant lymphocytes. The tumor cells had abundant eosinophilic and granular cytoplasm compatible with oncocytes with mild to moderate nuclear atypia. There were occasional cystic spaces that contained mucin though mucocytes were not readily apparent. (Figure 2) Necrosis, perineural and lymphovascular space invasion or anaplasia were not evident.
