A case of a pleomorphic giant cell tumor of the pnacreas in a 54 year old man is presented. It produced hugecystic mass in the pancreatic area ultrasonographically. Also multiple loculated pancreatic pseudocyst andmultiple low densities in liver were presented in CT. Pathologically this case was a form of giant cell carcinomawhich was called as epulis-osteoid type, but the osteiod component in this case was not conspicuous.

Pulmonary giant cell carcinoma is one of the most highly malignant neoplasms of the lung. Although mixed malignant glandular or squamous components may be associated with a giant cell carcinoma, it is a distinct clinical and morphologic entity. We reviewed cytologic presentations of 6 cases of pulmonary giant cell carcinoma. Cytologically, the single most characteristic feature of giant cell carcinoma was an extremely large, bizarre cancer cell engulfing numerous leukocytes. The nuclei of these cells showed occasional prominent nucleoli, and the cytoplasm was abundant. Giant cells were also seen in other types of pulmonary carcinoma, but the giant cells of this neoplasm could be differentiated from those encountered in undifferentiated large cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma by the abundant cytoplasm, the presence of markedly enlarged nuclei, prominent nucleoli, and an significant degree of phagocytosis, In conclusion, precise diagnosis and classification of lung cancer is imperative because of proved correlation between cell type and prognosis.

Combined large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma is an uncommon lung cancer that include large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma with components of adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, giant cell carcinoma and/or spindle cell carcinoma histologically. We report a case that pathologically diagnosed as combined large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma with component of adenocarcinoma after right pneumonectomy and mediastinal lymph node dissection. A 44-year-old man with intermittent chest pain was referred to our hospital for lung mass on the right mid lung field.

An osteoclast-like giant cell tumor of the pancreas is a very rare neoplasm, with only three cases reported in Korea. Due to the rarity of this tumor type, few clinical data are available. We present a case of undifferentiated carcinoma with osteoclast-like giant cell tumor arising in the tail of the pancreas in a 72-year-old woman hospitalized to evaluate epigastric pain and a palpable abdominal mass. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed the presence of a large enhancing mass with septation arising from the tail of the pancreas. A distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy was performed. The pathological diagnosis was undifferentiated carcinoma with osteoclast-like giant cell tumor. Here, we describe the histopathological and immunohistochemical findings and review the clinical features of the cases reported in the Korean literature.

Primary salivary duct carcinoma(SDC) featured with giant cell tumor(GCT) is a extremely rare, relatively new understanding lesion and its histogenesis has not been fully defined. This paper reported a case of SDC associated with GCT, its clinical, histopathologic features and histological origin were discussed in combination with literature review.

The pulmonary giant cell carcinoma is classified as a variant of a large cell carcinoma and is diagnosed by the minimum component of 10% huge, pleomorphic and multinucleated giant tumor cell and emperipolesis of the neutrophils into the tumor cells. This tumor is characterized by local recurrences and early metastasis with extremely short patient survival. However, there are some reports that state that the survival time was extended by the operative resection and postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy. A 46-year old male was admitted with complaint of hemoptysis for 2 months. Through chest X-ray and chest CT, a 5cm sized mass was found in the apical segment of the right upper lobe. During the preoperative evaluation, stenotic lesion in the left anterior descending coronary artery was found and treated by percutaneous transarterial coronary angioplasty. Four weeks later, right upper lobectomy was performed and the mass was proven to be a giant cell carcinoma. The patient received adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Pleomorphic basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a pathologic variant of BCC characterized by the presence of atypical appearing, mononuclear or multinucleated giant cells. The tumor usually presents as a nodule on the head or neck. We report a case of pleomorphic BCC with alopecia areata on the scalp in a 63-year-old woman. She had had a well circumscribed, black nodule on an alopecic patch for several months.

We studied cervical cytology of 175 cases of histologically confirmed microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix in Cheil General Hospital from 1991 to 1993. Excluding 32 cases of insufficient smear, 143 cases were reviewed in view of background, cellularity, smear pattern, nuclear chromatin and presence of nucleoli. The characteristic findings of microinvasive carcinoma were syncytia and/or individual tumor cells in the focally necrotic inflammatory background. Nuclear chromatin was clear or fine. Nucleoli were observed in 55%. The prediction rate of microinvasive carcinoma was 74%. There is no significant relationship between the cellular features and depth of invasion.

Carcinosarcoma of the pancreas is a rare malignant tumor that shows a combined or mixed proliferation of carcinomatous and sarcomatous cells. This tumor has been variously called carcinosarcoma, pleomorphic large cell carcinoma, giant cell carcinoma, and undifferentiated carcinoma. A 52-year-old man was hospitalized for evaluation of his epigastric pain and jaundice. An abdominal computed tomography revealed the presence of a poorly enhancing mass, arising from the head of the pancreas. Pylorus preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy was performed. The final pathologic diagnosis was undifferentiated carcinoma with 2 distinct components. One component was a conventional infiltrating pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, and the other component was sarcoma. We present here a case of carcinosarcoma of the pancreas along with a review of the literatures.

Extraskeletal osteoclast-like giant cell (OGC) tumors are uncommon and have mainly been found in the breast and pancreas. OGC neoplasms of the urinary tract are extremely rare. Most cases found in the renal pelvis and bladder are associated with either an in situ urothelial malignancy or a conventional high-grade urothelial carcinoma. These malignancies tend to be associated with a poor prognosis and disease course. To our knowledge, no cases of OGC tumors of the distal ureter only have been published. Here, we present the case of a 76-year-old man who underwent hand-assisted laparoscopic nephroureterectomy because of painless gross hematuria with right flank pain. Pathologic examination showed OGC carcinoma of the right distal ureter. No local tumor recurrence or distant metastasis was found at the 5-month follow-up.
