1.Colonic adenosquamous carcinoma and mucinous adenocarcinoma with microsatellite instability
The Malaysian Journal of Pathology 2018;40(2):199-202
A 43-year-old man presented with two-month history of fatigue, weakness, paleness, rectal bleeding, sweating, and weight loss of 10 kg in the past one month. A complete blood count revealed anaemia. The patient underwent a right hemicolectomy. The microscopic examination revealed an adenosquamous carcinoma associated with a mucinous adenocarcinoma in a patient with microsatellite instability due to loss of MLH1 and PMS2 expression and retention of MSH2 and MSH6 expression in both the squamous and glandular components. We also observed an atypical immunohistochemical phenotype in the adenocarcinoma component showing CK7 expression and reduced CK20 and CDX2 expression.

A case of primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the liver is reported. A large cystic mass with irregular enhancing wall was seen in the left lobe of the liver; multiple hepatic cysts and metastatic nodules were scattered in both lobes. Sonoguided needle biopsy was performed and on histopathology, adenosquamous carcinoma was diagnosed. The radiologic and pathologic relationships of this unusual neoplasm are discussed.

Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) is a rare tumor of the liver, which carries a poor prognosis. It has been reported mostly in the form of case studies. Recently, we experienced a case of primary ASC of the liver that has been preoperatively considered as cholangiocelluar carcinoma of the liver. Microscopically, the tumor was composed of adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, as well as transitional area, including the transformation of adenocarcinoma to squamous cell carcinoma. The patient remained well with no evidence of post-resection complication or recurrence for 15 month.

5.Adenosquamous Carcinoma of the Ascending Colon: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.
Annals of Coloproctology 2013;29(2):83-86
An adenosquamous carcinoma is a malignancy that has both glandular and squamous histologic components. Both components are malignant and have potential to metastasize. An adenosquamous carcinoma of the large bowel is rare, and its clinicopathologic behavior is not fully understood. It is reported to be more aggressive and have a worse prognosis when it is compared with an adenocarcinoma alone. We present a case of an adenosquamous carcinoma in the ascending colon which was laparoscopically resected and followed by adjuvant chemotherapy.

Adenosquamous carcinoma, a rare malignant tumor of the stomach, is characterized by the presence of two different cell components, one adenomatous and the other squamous. Adenosquamous carcinoma of the stomach tends to show more aggressive clinicopathologic features than common adenocarcinoma. There are few reports about radiologic features of adenosquamous carcinoma of the stomach. We experienced a case of a primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the stomach in a 67-year-old man, and report here the ultrasonographic and computed tomographic (CT) findings.

Among exocrine pancreatic tumors, adenosquamous carcinoma is a rare, aggressive subtype with a poor prognosis and a high potential for metastases compared with its more conventional glandular counterpart, adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. We herein describe the imaging findings of pancreatic adenosquamous cell carcinoma with solitary liver metastasis showing different imaging features and also review the previous literature to recognize characteristic imaging features of pancreatic adenosquamous cell carcinoma.

Pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma is a rare variant of ductal adenocarcinoma and accounts for only 1~4% of exocrine pancreatic malignancies. Although pancreatic carcinoma shows an aggressive biologic behavior, cutaneous metastasis from pancreas carcinoma is rare. We report a case of a pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma which clinically manifested as two firm nodules on the right upper extremity. It was this first clinical manifestation that made it possible to diagnose pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma.
