Acinic cell carcinoma(ACC) is the third common malignancy in major salivary gland. Fine needle aspiration cytology is a useful tool for the diagnosis of salivary gland lesions. However, some low grade malignancies, such as ACC and mucoepidermoid carcinoma show relatively high false negative rate, mainly due to deceptively benign cytomorphologic appearance. We experienced a papillary-cystic variant of ACC, having different cytopathologic features compared with those of classic ACC. Our case showed monolayered sheets and papillary clusters without any acinic structures or naked nuclei of the tumor cells. Foamy proteinaceous material was seen in the background. The tumor cells had a large amount of granular cytoplasm and eccentric nuclei. Many vacuolated or clear cells were also noted.

Acinic cell tumor, a rare tumor of the salivary gland origin, consists of cells similar to the serous cells of the salivary gland. The tumor is almost exclusively paroti4 gland origin, accounting for 2. 7 to 4. 0% of all parotid tumors. The tumor is not,benign but has at least a low-grade malignant potential. We described herein a case of acinic cell tumor which had occurred on an unusual site, right inner epicanthal area of a 9-year-old girl Microscopically, a hematoxylin-eosin stained biopsy specimen showed rnany lobules com of round or polyhedral tumor cells. Most acinic cell carcinomas arise within the parotid gland: extraparotid origin is rare. We encountered three cases of extraparotid acinic cell carcinoma arising in the buccal or palatal region, or the submandibular gland. All three tumors presented as a painless, slow-growing mass. CT imaging indicated that they were well defined, homogeneously enhanced, round masses. In one case, sonography demonstrated relatively homogeneous low echogenicity.

Acinar cell carcinoma(ACC) of the pancreas is rare and usually presents as a metastasizing tumor with poorprognosis in elderly patients with non-specific symptoms. We describe a case of pancreatic acinar cell carcinomawith peritoneal spread and multiple liver metastases. Abdominal sonography showed a well-marginated echogenic masswith a large central anechoic necrotic portion; CT scanning showed a large mildly enhanced lobulated mass with alow attenuation center and thin rim-like capsular enhancement. Irregular peritumoral peritoneal extension withmultiple small low attenuation necrotic areas was also noted. Multiple small well-defined metastatic nodulesshowing low attenuation were scattered in the liver.

cell carcinoma combined with hypervascularity arising on the hard palate in a 28-year-old woman is reported. We mistook it for vascular lesion because of hypervascularity. The clinical and histologic feature are described. Literatures about neovascularization of tumor & acinic cell carcinoma are reviewd, too. And we attempt to solve the problem of hypervascularity.]]>
