OBJECTIVETo establish a method for the determination of gypsum and magnesium in decoction by capillary zone electrophoresis and study the influence of different compatibility on the contents of calcium and magnesium dissolution.
METHODNine decoctions with gypsum were prepared and analysed by L9 (3(4)) orthogonal design and the contents of calcium and magnesium ions were determined by the set method. The conditions of the experiment were a running buffer of 6.4 mmol x L(-1) imidazole solution (glacial acetic acid ajusted pH to 3.50) and an applied voltage of 10 kV (room temperature). Samples were introduced by hydrodynamic injection (8 cm x 7 s) and determined with on-column UV monitoring at 214 nm. Copper sulphate was chosen as the internal standard.
RESULTSThe linear responses covered the range from 0.009 68 mg x L(-1) to 9.68 mg x L(-1) (r = 0.998 1) for calcium, the detection limits (S/N = 3) and the quantitation limits (S/N = 10) of calcium were shown to be 0.002 1 mg x L(-1) and 0.007 1 mg x L(-1), respectively. The average recovery for calcium was 100.4%. The linear response covered the range from 0.01 mg x L(-1) to 10 mg x L(-1) (r = 0.995 9) for magnesium. The detection limits (S/N = 3) and the quantitation limits (S/N = 10) of magnesium showed to be 0.002 8 mg x L(-1) and 0.008 9 mg x L(-1), respectively. The average recovery for magnesium was 96.4%.
CONCLUSIONThe method is simple, rapid, cost-effective and precise with satisfactory results. The influence of Ephedra and Semen Armeniacae Amarum on the contents of gypsum dissolution are significant, while that of Radix Glycyrrhizae on the contents of gypsum dissolution is insignificant. The influence of Ephedra on the contents of magnesium dissolution are significant, while that of Semen Armeniacae Amarum and Radix Glycyrrhizae on the contents of magnesium dissolution are insignificant.

The laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) was applied to perform a qualitative elementary analysis on four precious Tibetan medicines, i. e. Renqing Mangjue, Renqing Changjue, 25-herb coral pills and 25-herb pearl pills. The specific spectra of the four Tibetan medicines were established. In the experiment, Nd: YAG and 1 064 nm-baseband pulse laser were adopted to collect the spectra. A laser beam focused on the surface of the samples to generate plasma. Its spectral signal was detected by using spectrograph. Based on the National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) database, LIBS spectral lines were indentified. The four Tibetan medicines mainly included Ca, Na, K, Mg and other elements and C-N molecular band. Specifically, Fe was detected in Renqing Changjue and 25-herb pearl pills; heavy mental elements Hg and Cu were shown in Renqing Mangjue and Renqing Changjue; Ag was found in Renqing Changjue. The results demonstrated that LIBS is a reliable and rapid multi-element analysis on the four Tibetan medicines. With Real-time, rapid and nondestructive advantages, LIBS has a wide application prospect in the element analysis on ethnic medicines.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2008;32(1):50-53
The atom absorption spectrometer is introduced to determine the cation concentrations such as potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium in the dialysis fluid. They are accurately determined by proper preparation and correct dilution ratio under the optimized measuring conditions. Compared with the current arbitrate methods (EDTA titration determination of calcium and magnesium), it supplements the methods of international and industrial standards for determination of cations.

Journal of Lipid and Atherosclerosis 2016;5(1):61-77
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to analyze cost-effectiveness of two most-commonly used statins from the perspective of the Korean national health system. METHODS: The scope of the analysis included rosuvastatin (5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg) and atorvastatin (10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg, and 80 mg). Effectiveness was defined as percentage (%) and absolute (mg/dL) reductions of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) from the baseline. They were derived from published randomized controlled studies for rosuvastatin and atorvastatin. Effectiveness was defined as reductions in LDL-C levels per mg dose of the drugs. The annual direct medical costs including drug acquisition costs and monitoring costs over the one-year time horizon were calculated for each alternative. The average cost-effectiveness ratios (ACERs) and incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) for each statin dose were calculated. RESULTS: The ACERs for all doses of rosuvastatin (5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg) were lower than those for all doses of atorvastatin (10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg, and 80 mg). Rosuvastatin 10 mg was the most cost-effective statin for LDL-C reduction. In cost-effectiveness analyses for corresponding doses of rosuvastatin and atorvastatin, rosuvastatin was the superior strategy which suggests both higher effectiveness and lower costs than atorvastatin. However, we have to consider this analysis is highly influenced by current price of statins in each market. CONCLUSIONS: For reduction of LDL-C levels in Korean patients with dyslipidemia, rosuvastatin 10mg is the most cost-effective statin in the current Korean market.

Korean Journal of Urology 1982;23(7):921-925
to elucidate growth rate of urinary calculi, a statistical analysis of 39 urinary calculi were undertaken and analysis with infrared spectroscopy was also performed in possible 31 cases. The men growth rate in length and width were obtained by measuring difference between size on the initial X-ray film and late film. The results were as followings. 1. Renal stones grew more rapidly than ureteral stones (p<0.01). On the growth rate of the ureteral stones, length showed more rapid growth rate than width (p<0.01). 2. Infected stones grew more rapidly than non-infected cases (p<0.01). 3. On the growth rate and compositions of stones, calcium phosphate stones showed most rapid growth rate and then calcium oxalate calcium phosphate stones and calcium oxalate stones were delayed in growth among 3 groups (p<0.05).

Chinese Journal of Preventive Medicine 2022;56(4):533-540
Calcium plays an important role in various physiological activities of the human body, and long-term insufficient or excessive intake of calcium will have a negative impact on the body's health. Existing data show that insufficient dietary calcium intake is closely related to bone health, but the non-bone effects are not clear. Increasing dietary calcium and supplementing calcium (with or without vitamin D) have a certain beneficial effect on the bone mineral density and its peak of adolescents and can delay the bone loss of the elderly, but it can't improve the height and bone mineral density of adults and fracture in the elderly. This article introduces the physiological functions of calcium, dietary sources, human intake, and methods for formulating recommended amounts, and summarizes the relationship between calcium and health effects. It also recommends that when formulating the reference intake of dietary calcium for Chinese residents, more consideration should be given to the data and information of the Chinese population, combined with the characteristics of Chinese residents' genetics, absorption and metabolism.

OBJECTIVETo establish a simple but effective method of laser scanning confocal microscopic imaging for Ca2+ oscillations of pancreatic acinar cells in adult mice.
METHODSPancreatic acinar cells from adult Kunming mice were isolated acutely with collagenase, and then loaded with fluo-4-AM, a Ca2+ indicator. A laser scanning confocal microscope armed with 488 nm laser was employed to record the dynamic fluorescent signals in-time and synchronously while acetylcholine (ACh) was added in the pancreatic acinar cells.
RESULTS(1) The classic pancreatic acinar cell Ca2+ oscillations were induced by a certain concentration of ACh (100 nmol/L) successfully and steadily, which could be blocked by atropine completely. (2) Plasmic Ca2+ oscillations from different parts of one acinar cell were usually with different amplitudes and almost the same frequencies. But both of amplitudes and frequencies were different among different cells. (3) The acinar cell Ca2+ oscillations were induced by ACh in a concentration-dependent manner.
CONCLUSIONThe laser scanning confocal microscopic imaging for adult mouse pancreatic acinar cell Ca2+ oscillations was established successfully. The features of being easy to use, direct to see lively, high efficiency and good flexibility make it a popular tool for researchers to choose.
