It is still controversial whether total splenectomy on adult animals would affect their immune function. In this study, total splenectomy and different kinds of splenic preservation operations including splenorrhaphy, partial splenectomy and spleen autotransplantation were performed on adult rats after the porta of the spleen of the rats was artificially ruptured and the splenic artery ligated. In the 4th month after the operations, the hemolysin antibody and the de-layed-type hypersensitivity reaction were determined in the rats. It was found that no significant difference occurred in the hemolysin antibody and the delayed type hypersensitivity reaction among the rats of the control group, the group with total splenectomy, and the groups with different kinds of splenic preservation operations.

At present, the training pattern in the higher-education institutions of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is still characterized as a trilogy of basic medical theory courses, clinical medical courses and graduation clinic practice, which results in the slow-cultivation of the TCM talent, and brings into the severe problems of theory being divorced from practice and bad social adaptability in the graduates. Under this situation, it is imperative to reform the traditional training patterns and to advocate innovation in the education. It is suggested that creative teachers, students' creative study and a democratic, harmonious, relaxing and easy study atmosphere are helpful to the cultivation of TCM talents. Therefore, a student-orientating training pattern of classroom-teaching synchronized with the clinic practice, emphasizing clinic practice, and aiming to improve the scientific research ability is advocated in higher-education of TCM. This is expected to provide some thoughts for the development of TCM higher education in the new era.

An iceberg model for better understanding the patients was developed. In this model the seeking for consultation is visible part of illness behavior, but the thoughts, concerns and expectations toward his or her illness are the hidden parts.Through detailed history taking, using appropriate language skill (Leichester Assessment Package) and nonverbal communication skill (space distance, eye contact, listening, pronunciation, appropriate silence),physicians can acquaint comprehensive knowledge about the hidden thoughts, concern and expectation of patients about their illness. This model would help general practitioners to raise communication and consultation ability and skills in their practice.

Objective To investigate whether calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP) can influence the proliferation and phenotypic modulation of vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs),and what is the relationship between them. Methods Vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs) were cultured respectively with rat aorta cultivated for 8 days in vitro and with normal aorta(not culture) through the explant-attached method, and CGRP was added into the culture medium of the experimental groups. The proliferation of cells was labeled by 5-bromodeoxyuridine(5-BrdU) with immunocytochemical method, and the mRNA expression of hypertension-related gene-1(HRG-1) and smooth muscle 22 alpha(SM22?) were determined by RT-PCR. Results The proliferating cells labeled by BrDU from the aorta cultured for 8 days in vitro were increased notablly and the mRNA expression of HRG-1 and SM22? were decreased. While the VSMCs were cultured in the culture medium containing CGRP,the proliferous cells labeled by BrdU were obviously decreased and the mRNA expression of HRG-1 and SM22? were significantly increased. Conclusion It is showed that CGRP could inhibit the proliferation of VSMCs and change the phenotype of VSMCs from synthesize to contractile type.It might be a good cellular model which provides a good experimental platform to research the proliferating vascular disease as well as its prevention and treatment.

To study the mechanism of proliferous vascular disease as well as its prevention and treatment, an organic model was established with cultured aortas of rats, and the mechanism there-in invloved was probed. Immunostaining histology showed that smooth muscle cell (SMC) proliferation was observed in the aorta segments of rats, after their endothelia being injured and cultured in vitro with 20% fetal bovine serum. After being cultured for 5 days, various degrees of proliferation of SMC on cultured artery segments were observed by HE staining, and conspicuous plaques were developed after being cultured for 13 days. The proliferous SMC was also observed by Brdu labeling. RT-PCR examination showed that the mRNA expression of hypertension-related gene-1 (Hrg-1) and smooth muscle 22 alpha (SM22a) in the aortas decreased with the prolongation of culture time, and completely disappeared after being cultured for 13 days . But when cultured in vitro for ten days, the ET-1 content of supernatant and the proliferous SMC labeled by Brdu increased obviously and the expressions of Hrg-1 and SM22a decreased after the endothelium was destroyed. Compared with the injured endothelium groups, the proliferous SMC of injured endothelium plus BQ123 groups decreased visibly. The same significant differences between serum groups and serum-free groups were also observed. These results suggest that the culturing of rat aorta segments in vitro can induce the proliferation of SMC and the transform of phenotype from contractile type to synthetic type. The ET-1 and serum are the main factors in the proliferation of SMC and in the transform of phenotype. This organic model could serve as a good experimental platform for the researches into the mechanism of proliferous vascular disease as well as its prevention and treatment.

Objective To observe the clinical effects of traditional Chinese medicine and foam dressing in the treatment of stageⅢ pressure sores. Methods A total of 94 patients with stageⅢ pressure sores in neurology department of Hangzhou Red Cross Hospital from January 2015 to December 2016 were recruited and randomly divided into control group (n=44) and observation group (n=50) by random number table method. Besides routine treatment and care of pressure sores, control group was given traditional Chinese medicine, while patients of observation group received traditional Chinese medicine combined with foam dressing treatment. The treatment effects of the two groups were observed and compared. Results The total effective rate of pressure sore in was 90.00% in the observation group and 86.36% in the control group, and there was no statistical difference (P>0.05). The average healing time of the observation group was (13.56±4.35) days, which was significantly shorter than that of the control group (21.45±3.47) days, and the difference was statistically significant (P< 0.01). Conclusions The effects of traditional Chinese medicine combined with foam dressing in the treatment of stageⅢ pressure ulcer is better than that of traditional Chinese medicine, which can improve the cure rate of pressure ulcer, shorten the healing time of pressure ulcer, and is worthy of clinical promotion.
