Objective To study extended high frequency (EHF) audiometry for early detection of hearing loss in student pilots in civil aviation. Methods A total of 175 student pilots (all male,18~25 years old, mean 20.2±0.92 years) from a university flight academy were surveyed and underwent EHFA.All subjects had hearing thresholds ≤25 dB HL at conventional frequencies (0.25~8 kHz).The results were compared with the corresponding recommended standards in other countries.According to the use of personal listening devices, all the subjects were divided into the low risk group (non-use, 121 cases) and the high risk group (using>1 year, day>1 hour, 52 cases). The differences of hearing thresholds and detection rates at EHF between the two groups were compared. Results The hearing thresholds of 173 subjects (1 case of middle ear disease and 1 case with family history of hearing loss were excluded) at 9~20 kHz were slightly higher than the reference equivalent threshold sound pressure level (RETSPL) prescribed by American National Standardization Association and the age-matched thresholds recommended by a foreign literature (P<0.05 or P<0.01).The hearing thresholds in the high risk group elevated dramatically than that in the low risk group at 9,12.5,16 and 18 kHz(P<0.05 or P<0.01).As frequencies increased, the detection rate of hearing thresholds in the high risk group decreased gradually, and at 18 and 20 kHz it was significantly lower than that in the low risk group (P<0.01).Conclusion EHF audiometry is a helpful tool for early detection of noise-induced hearing loss in student pilots.Hearing health care should be emphasized in civilian student pilots. It is recommended to avoid the use of personal listening devices or reduce the use time of them.

Objective To explore the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound in the diagnosis and classification of traumatic spleen rupture , as compared with enhanced CT. Methods The manifestations of contrast-enhanced ultrasound on surgically or clinically confirmed spleen rupture in 40 patients were retrospectively analyzed. The performance of contrast-enhanced ultrasound on diagnosis and classification was compared with that of enhanced CT. Results For 40 patients with traumatic spleen rupture , the of accuracy of enhanced CT and contrast-enhanced imaging in the diagnosis of traumatic spleen rupture was 97.5%, with no significant statistical differences (chi-square = 0, P = 1). On contrast-enhanced ultrasound examination, 14 patients were diagnosed as true splenic rupture , 9 as subcapsular spleen rupture , and 16 as central splenicrupture, with a accuracy rate of 92.5% (37/40); and accuracy rate for enhanced CT was 90.0% (36/40), there was no significant statistical difference (chi-square = 1.97, P > 0.05). Conclusions Contrast-enhanced and enhanced CT have good consistency in the diagnosis and classification of traumatic spleen rupture. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound can accurately determine the scope and degree of spleen damage , resulting in more accurate classification; and it has values in the diagnosis of traumatic spleen rupture and choice of therapies.

Objective To analyze retrospectively the impact of different heart rates on image quality and radiation dose of coronary angiography using 640-slice dynamic volume CT.Methods A total of 461 patients with suspected coronary artery disease or referred to health check underwent coronary angiography with 640-slice dynamic volume CT.Two groups were created according to their heart rates:Group A had heart rate < 65 beats per minute (n=337)and Group B had heart rate between 65 to 122 beats per minute (n=124).Image quality was assessed by analyzing the 1 5 segments of the main coronary branches using 3-grade scale (grade I-good,grade Ⅱ-acceptable,grade Ⅲ-poor).Effective radiation dose was also evaluated. Results Patients in both A group and B group performed successful CT coronary angiography with a total of 6 91 5 coronary segments.Among them, coronary segments that could be evaluated reliably accounted for 94.5% (6 535/6 91 5)while 5.5% (380/6 91 5)were too small (≤1.5 mm)to be assessed. For the image quality,Group A and Group B had grade I in 90.5% (305/337)vs 74.2% (92 /124),grade Ⅱ in 9.5% (32/337)vs 21.0% (26 / 124)and grade Ⅲ in 0 % (0 / 337 )vs 4.8% (6 / 124),respectively.Image quality was significantly different be-tween Group A and Group B (P <0.001).In addition,32 patients (9.5%)in Group A had slight cardiac motion artifacts but with-out affecting image quality, whereas 26 patients (21.0%)in Group B had higher degree of cardiac motion artifacts thus graded as grade Ⅱ.Stair-step artifacts were not found in all patients. The effective radiation dose was higher in Group B than in Group A by 32.05%(7.91±0.34 mSv vs 5.99±0.17 mSv).Conclusion Coronary angiography using 640-slice dynamic volume CT can guarantee excellent image quality when heart rate < 65 beats per minute.Although the image quality would decrease in some extent it is still diagnostic when heart rate is between 65 to 122(include 65 and 122)beats per minute.

We designed the specific primers and TaqMan probes targeting cytochrome b genes of mitochondrial DNA from bovine, goat and sheep. We used different fluorescents to label the probes. After optimization of reaction conditions, we set up a multiplex fluorescent real-time PCR method to detect bovine, goat and sheep derived materials, simultaneously. We finished the detection tests of 17 kinds of animal DNA and 200 DNA samples from different sources with the developed method and the National Standard GB/T 20190Y-2006 routine PCR method. The coincidence rate of these two methods was 100%. Without electrophoresis or restriction digestion, the developed method could reduce the test time to one third as routine PCR and identify three kinds of animal derived materials including bovine, goat and sheep in one reaction. The developed method was approximately 10 times more sensitive than routine PCR, and was applicable to identifications of bovine, goat and sheep derived materials in feed stuff, meat, milk, pelt and grease, etc. The study showed that the developed real-time PCR method is a rapid, sensitive and efficacious detection assay for bovine, goat and sheep derived materials in animal products.

To conduct the association between vitamin B12 and mental health in children and adolescents. Five databases were searched for observational studies in any language reporting on mental health and vitamin B12 levels or intake in children and adolescents from inception to March 18, 2022. Two authors independently extracted data and assessed study quality. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of data were performed. The review was registered in the PROSPERO database (CRD42022345476). Fifty six studies containing 37,932 participants were identified in the review. Vitamin B12 levels were lower in participants with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) (standardized mean difference [SMD], −1.61;95% confidence interval [95% CI], −2.44 to −0.79; p < 0.001), attention deficit hyperactivity disorders (SMD, −0.39; 95% CI, −0.78 to −0.00; p = 0.049) compared with control group. Vitamin B12 intake were lower in participants with ASDs (SMD, −0.86; 95% CI, −1.48 to −0.24; p = 0.006) compared with control group, but showed no difference between depression group (SMD, −0.06; 95% CI, −0.15 to 0.03; p = 0.17) and the control group. Higher vitamin B12 intake were associated with lower risk of depression (odds ratio [OR], 0.79; 95% CI, 0.63−0.98; p = 0.034) and behavioral problems (OR, 0.83; 95% CI, 0.69−0.99; p = 0.04). The vast majority of included studies supported potential positive influence of vitamin B12 on mental health, and vitamin B12 deficiency may be a reversible cause for some mental health disorders in children and adolescents.
