In the present study the nutritional status in 1723 inpatients were evaluated. The over nutrition in male, in the cadre, and in patients with cerebrooardiovascular diseases or with diabetes was significantly higher than that in female, in the staff members, and the patient changing the valve in heart with rheumatism, respectively. The over nutrition in patients with breast and colonrectal cancer was obviously higher than that in stomach carcinoma patients. The sum total of lymphocytes was reduced in middle malnutrition patients. The nutritional status was well compared with the abnormal ratio of hemoglobin and serum protein, and A/G reverse was increased in some middle malnutrition patients. The MAC, MAMC and TSF in all of the malnutrition patients were than that of 80% standarized value, and were all the same in the evaluation of body weight.

Objective · To conduct a survey on the current status of professionalism and personal protection in Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) practitioners in Shanghai, analyze the existing problems and provide suggestions, in order to improve work quality and management level of CCSD. Methods · Cluster sampling was used to extract 23 different level hospitals with CSSDs among 4 districts in Shanghai including Jing'an, Jinshan,Qingpu and Jiading. A total of 147 participants consisted of 104 employees and 43 heads of CSSDs. Field investigation and questionnaire survey were applied into CSSD practitioners for investigating their essential information, professionalism and personal protection status. Results · Practitioners in different hospitals showed different professional knowledge, especially practitioners in private hospital performed worse than those in secondary and tertiary-level hospitals in this survey of professionalism. Daily protection measures were defective due to lacking of consciousness of personal protection.Conclusion · There was problem of personal professionalism and protection consciousness in CSSD practitioners. It is important to optimize the allocation of CSSD human resource, reinforce skill training and improve quality management.

Objective: To investigate the actualities of service in Outpatient Pharmacy and Emergency Pharmacy. Methods: With queuing theory of operational research and data statistics, the specialities and varities of service in both Pharmacies were investigated before and after the application of computer network. Results: (1)The distribution of the patients number arriving the Pharmacies was unequal.(2) The time of service was extended after using network.(3)The average individual time of service in Emergency Pharmacy was 74 s, and 48 s in Outpatient Pharmacy. The reasons for the average individual time of service in Emergency Pharmacy more than that in Outpatient Pharmacy was related to the formulation of drugs in 2 pharmacies and the number of drugs on prescriptions. (4)The number of windows for service should be increased in Emergency Pharmacy after using network. Conclusion: Operational research and data statistics will provide the data assisting the manager in making decisions. [

Alternations of lymphocyte in biophysical properties (e.g., morphology and viscoelasticity) are related to the human health, disease diagnosis and treatment. Here, we used atomic force microscopy (AFM) to characterize the morphology and mechanical properties of normal lymphocyte and Jurkat. The AFM images revealed that their cell shapes appeared similar. The mechanical properties of the two groups were tracked with AFM-based force spectroscopy. The normal lymphocyte cells had a high adhesion force distribution in (796.7 +/- 248.5) pN, whereas the Jurkat cells had a low force distribution in (158.5 +/- 37.5) pN. The adhesion force revealed that the Young's modulus of normal lymphocyte cells (0.471 kPa +/- 0.081 kPa) was nearly four times higher than that of Jurkat cells (0.0964 kPa +/- 0.0229 kPa) at the same loading rate. The stiffness of normal lymphocyte cells was (2.278 +/- 0.488) mN/m and that of Jurkat cells was (4.322 +/- 0.382) mN/m. The differences in mechanical properties of normal and cancerous cells were obvious that healthy and diseased states could be clearly distinguished. These results may be applied to the clinic disease diagnosis for distinguishing the normal cells from the cancer ones even when they show similar shapes.

Objective:To introduce the application and practice of information technology in the pharmacy management of our hos-pital in order to provide reference for fine hospital management. Methods: The difficulties and application experience of information technology in the practice of hospital storeroom, pharmacy and medication management were summarized and analyzed. Results: The introduction of information and automation technology was beneficial to the improvement of work efficiency, prevention of medication er-rors, reduction of the incidence of clinical irrational drug use and improvement of patient treatment service quality. Conclusion:Imple-menting information-based pharmacy management is not only a new idea and method in hospital pharmacy development, but also the in-evitable tendency of the times.

Objective To evaluate systematically whether administration of hypertonic saline transfusion affects clinical outcomes with compared to standard fluid in the early stage of resuscitation for traumatic shock patients.Methods Seven English and Chinese routine biology and medicine databases were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published from January 2002 to August 2012,and established inclusion and exclusion criteria to evaluate these RCTs.The quality assessment was based on the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions Version 5.0.1 and Jadad' s score scale.RevMan 5.0 statistical software was used for meta-analysis.Results After evaluated 211 related literatures,five RCTs met all the inclusion criteria and were enrolled for meta-analysis.The meta-a nalysis demonstrated that early hypertonic transfusion did not decrease short-term (first 48 hours after admission) mortality (RR =1.04,P =0.74); nor did it decrease later-term (7day to 3month after injury) mortality (RR =0.97,P =0.72).It also did not decrease the total volume of fluid and blood transfusion required during the first day (P =0.38).Similarly,it did not affect the incidents of infections (RR =1.04,P =0.70),the length of stay in ICU (P =0.2) and total length of stay in the hospital.Conclusions Compared to standard fluid,there was no advantage on mortality and hospital infection by using hypertonic supplement transfusion in the early stage of resuscitation for traumatic shock patients.Hypertonic transfusion did not have any significant effect on the volume of total fluid and blood transfusion required the first day,and no trend of reduction for the length of ICU and hospital stay.Further well-designed randomized controlled trials are needed to demonstrate the cost effectiveness of hypertonic transfusion to traumatic shock patients while in ICU.

Objective To investigate the proliferation and identification of dendritic cells(DC)de- rived from peripheral blood of patients with bladder cancer in vitro.Methods The mononuclear cells were prepared from peripheral blood of patients with bladder cancer by Ficoll-Hypaque centrifugation method,and were induced by the recombinant cytokines hGM-CSF(50 ng/ml),hlL-4(10 ng/ml)and hTNF-?(50 ng/ ml)for 2 weeks.The growth and morphology of DC were observed through the phase contrast or electron mi- croscope,and their pheuotypes were determined by flow cytometry.The capacity of DC to activate T cell-de- pendent anti-tumor immune responses was tested by MTT method.Results The DC cultured in vitro turned into suspensive growth from adhesive situation on the 6th day,then the number of DC increased con- tinuously and the cells showed the irregular morphologic appearance of DC with veiled edges on the 8th day. Flow cytometry showed that the mature DC expressed high levels of specific markers such as CD_(1a),CD_(83), CD_(86)and HLA-DR.T cells activated by DC showed strong cytotoxicity to bladder cancer cell line BIU87 with a killing rate of(48.8?3.7)%,while the killing rate of T cells which were not activated by DC was(25.7?1.5)%;the difference of the rate between them was significant(P＜0.01). Conclusions The DC can be cultured from peripheral blood of patients with bladder cancer by induction of rhGM-CSF,rhIL-4 and hT- NF-?in vitro.This may lay an experimental foundation for further research on DC vaccine.

Objective: To investigate the inhibitory effect of adenovirus-mediated VEGF-siRNA on transplanted osteo- sarcoma in nude mice.Methods: VEGF-siRNA gene was cloned into the genome of replication-deficient adenovirus to construct Ad-VEGF-siRNA;the latter was then used to infect osteosarcoma MG63 cell line in vitro;and the expression of VEGF gene was detected by RT-PCR.Osteosarcoma transplantation model was established in nude mice;VEGF expression in tumor tissue was analyzed and the inhibitory effect on tumor growth and lung metastasis were also observed.Results: The recombinant adenovirus vector Ad-VEGF-siRNA was successfully constructed.In vivo and in vitro experiment both showed that Ad-VEGF-siRNA significantly downregulated VEGF expression in MG63 cells and transplanted tumor tissue. Three new compounds, including a naphthoquinone, a reduced naphthoquinone derivative naphthalenone, and a tricarboxylic acid, along with five known naphthalenone derivatives were isolated from ethyl acetate extract of rice fermentation products of the fungus Pleosporales sp. by multiple column chromatographic methods, including Sephadex LH-20 gel column chromatography, silica gel column chromatography, reversed-phase HPLC, and chiral chromatography. Their structures were elucidated by MS, NMR, and specific rotation spectroscopic analyses as well as ECD calculations. Three novel compounds were named as pleospathone A (1), pleospathone B (2), and pleosporalic acid A (3). Five known compounds were separately identified as (3S,4R)-3,4,8-trihydroxy-6-methyl-3,4-dihydronaphthalen-1(2H)-one (4), (4R)-3,4-dihydro-4,6,8-trihydroxy-1(2H)-naphthalenone (5), (-)-scytalone (6), (3S,4S)-3,4-dihydro-3,4,6,8-tetrahydroxy-1(2H)-naphthalenone (7), and cis-4-hydroxyscytalone (8). Compounds 4-8 were isolated from the Pleosporales fungi for the first time. Compound 1 shows inhibitory activities against human cervical carcinoma cell line HeLa and murine leukemia cell line P388 with the IC₅₀ values of 78.93 and 98.80 μmol·L^-1, respectively.
