Objective To investigate the characteristics of fetal growth in uterus. Methods A total of 695 term singleton infant were studied. Various ultrasound measurements (including Biparietal diameter BPD, Transverse abdomen-diameter AD, femur length FL) obtained from 26 weeks' gestation to term. 147 cases were macrosomia. 48 cases were intra-uterine growth retardation (IUGR). 500 cases were normal weight. We assessed the tendency of BPD/AD and AD/FL of fetal. Results BPD/AD ratio of macrosomia was lowest, and BPD/AD ratio of IUGR was highest of them. The tendency of BPD/AD ratio were declined in gestation. AD/FL ratio of macrosomia were highest, and AD/FL ratio of IUGR was lowest of them. The tendency of AD/FL ratios were smooth in gestation. Conclusion The tendency of fetal growth in uterus showed that the add of abdominal diameter contributed to gain in weight.

Chinese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2001;36(2):69-71
Objective To assess fetal cardiac hypertrophy and ventricular function in fetuses of diabetic mothers. Methods Study group was consist of 23 fetuses of diabetic pregnancies. Control group was consist of 108 fetuses of normal pregnancies. Cardiac size was measured by ultrasound as inter-ventricular septal (IVS) thickness and ventricular diastolic and systolic (VD and VS) dimensions and perimeter. Cardiac function was expressed as ventricular shortening fraction 1 (VSF1) (ventricular diastolic perimeter -ventricular systolic perimeter/ventricular diastolic perimeter)and ventricular shortening fraction 2 (VSF2) (ventricular diastolic dimension-Ventricular systolic dimension/ventricular diastolic dimension).Fetal birth weight was recorded. Results IVS of study group (6.1±0.7) mm, which was significantly thicker than IVS of control group (4.4±0.7) mm. Left ventricular diastolic dimension (LVDD) and Left ventricular systolic dimension (LVSD) of study group were (3.3±0.8)cm2 and (2.2±0.6) cm2, which were greater than those of control group (2.6±0.6) cm2 and (2.0±0.5) cm2. Right ventricular diastolic dimension (RVDD) and Right ventricular systolic dimension (RVSD) of study group were (3.9±0.7) cm2 and (2.6±0.7) cm2, which were also greater than those of control group (3.5±0.5) cm2 and (2.4±0.7) cm2. Left ventricular shortening fraction 1 of left ventricular (LVSF1) of study group was 0.20±0.07, which was greater than that of control group (0.12±0.04). LVSF2 of study group was 0.35±0.11,which was greater than that of control group too (0.23±0.10). Right ventricular shortening fraction 1 of left ventricular (RVSF1) of study group was 0.19±0.05,which was greater than that of control group (0.13±0.11). RVSF2 of study group was 0.33±0.09,which was greater than that of control group (0.23±0.14). Estimated fetal birth weight of study group was (4 076±608) g, which was greater than that of control group (3 440±377) g. Conclusion These findings showed that fetal hyperinsulinemia result in fetal weight increasing, global cardiac enlarger inter-ventricular septal thickness larger and revealed hypercontractillty of ventricle in fetuses of diabetas mothers.

Objective To explore extracellular signal-regulated kinase ( ERK1/2 ) expression in the role of curcumin inhibited staurosporine (STS)-mediated neurons toxic injury through added PD098059, and to clarify ERK1/2 mediated inhibitory role of curcumin on STS-induced neurons toxic injury. Methods The neurons toxic injury model of primary cultured hippocampal neurons was established by STS.The experiment was divided into six groups:normal control group, STS model group, PD098059 +STS model group, curcumin +STS pretreatment group, curcumin+PD098059+STS treatment group and curcumin treatment group. The cell viability were determined by MTT method, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release rate, cell toxicity were detected, nuclear shape were observed by DAPI staining, and ERK1/2 expression were detected by Western blot method. Results The cell viability of curcumin +STS pretreatment group was significantly higher than STS model group ( P <0.001 ); the cell viability had no significant difference between PD098059 +STS model group and curcumin +PD098059 +STS treatment group;compared with curcumin +STS model group , the cell viability of curcumin +PD098059 +STS treatment group was significantly decreased ( P<0.001 ).LDH results showed that the nerve cell toxicity of curcumin +STS pretreatment group was obviously less than STS model group (P<0.001).The cell nuclear shape showed typical apoptosis morphological characteristics in STS model group, and curcumin inhibited the effect of STS mediated-neuronal apoptosis.ERK1/2 protein expression in curcumin +STS pretreatment group significantly increased compared with STS model group ( P <0.001 ) .Conclusion Curcumin inhibited STS-mediated neurons toxicity injury by up-regulating ERK1/2 expression. After PD098059 blocking the nerve cells ERK1/2 synthesis, the inhibitory action of curcumin failed to implemented, which illustrated that ERK1/2 mediated curcumin to inhibit STS-induced neuronal toxic injury.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the therapeutic effect of Longjintonglin Capsules on type IIIA prostatitis accompanied by abnormal semen liquefaction.
METHODSWe selected 140 patients with type IIIA prostatitis accompanied by abnormal semen liquefaction according to the diagnostic standards of the American Institutes of Health (NIH) and treated them with Longjintonglin Capsules orally 3 capsules once tid for 12 weeks. We obtained the NIH Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Indexes (NIH-CPSI), traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, leukocyte count in the expressed prostatic secretion (EPS), semen liquefaction time, and the results of semen analysis and compared these indicators before and after the treatment.
RESULTSOf the 140 cases, 132 were included in this study, excluding 8 due to their incomplete case histories. Before and after 4, 8 and 12 weeks of medication, the total NIH-CPSI scores were 24.52 ± 5.43, 21.28 ± 4.85, 18.01 ± 4.28, and 14.49 ± 3.65 (P < 0.01), the TCM syndrome scores were 35.63 ± 6.07, 26.66 ± 5.03, 17.37 ± 4.18, and 11.11 ± 3.96 (P < 0.01), and the leukocyte counts (/HP) were 27.50 ± 7.01, 22.38 ± 5.22, 16:76 ± 4.10, and 11.40 ± 4.74 (P < 0.01), respectively. After 12 weeks of treatment, 31 of the patients with type IIIA prostatitis were cured and another 72 well responded, with an overall response rate of 78.0%. Of those with abnormal semen liquefaction, 61 were cured, 39 well responded, and 32 failed to respond, with an overall effectiveness rate of 75.8%. Semen analysis showed significantly increased percentage of progressively motile sperm after 4, 8 and 12 weeks of medication as compared with the baseline (P < 0.01). No abnormal liver or renal function or other adverse reactions were observed during the treatment.
CONCLUSIONLongjintonglin Capsules, with its advantages of safety, effectiveness and no obvious adverse effects, deserve to be recommended for the treatment of type IIIA prostatitis accompanied by abnormal semen liquefaction.

Objective To screen the optimized Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BYHWD);To verify it. Methods H2O2 was used to induce PC12 cell oxidative stress models. MTT method was used to determine the prevention effects of BYHWD at different concentrations (0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.5 mg/mL) on in vitro oxidative stress cell models to define the optimized concentration. Orthogonal design was used to divide BYHWD single medicine into decomposed BYHWD groups, control group (only with DMEM), normal group (without H2O2 and medicine processing), and model group, to investigate the protective effects on PC12 cells. Optimized BYHWD was screened to decide the compatibility ratio of each medicine. MTT was used to detect the cell survival rate in each group. Middle cerebral artery occlusion was used to replicate MACO rat models. SD rats were randomly divided into sham-operation group, model group, BYHWD group and optimized BYHWD high-, medium-and low-dose groups. Each medication group was given relevant medicine for gavage. The screened results were verified. Results Compared with other decomposed BYHWD groups, the protective effects of the compatibility of Astragali Radix+Chuanxiong Rhizoma+Pheretima on PC12 cells was the best (P<0.05), which was nearly equaled to BYHWD. Compared with the model group, BYHWD and the optimized one could evidently reduce cerebral cortex infarction area and improve the impaired brain edema (P<0.05), and the medium-dose group was the best. Conclusion The optimized BYHWD ratio is:Astragali Radix:Chuanxiong Rhizoma:Pheretima=10:3:1.
