The culture of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells is extremely important for studies on umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells. Optimization of cellculture technology is crucial for clinical application of mesenchymal stem cells and even celltherapy. Meanwhile, the labeling and tracer technique of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells is a hotspot in stem celltransplantation. OBJECTIVE:To review the research and development of the cellmarkers and tracer methods of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells. METHODS:A computer-based search of VIP, CNKI, Medline, Highwire and Foreign Journals Integration System databases was performed for articles concerning culture and labeling of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells published from January 2001 to October 2013. The keywords were“stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells, umbilical cord-derived mesenchymalstem cells, cellculture, labeling methods”in Chinese and English, respectively. Final y, 35 articles were included in result analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells have not yet been widely used, mainly because of the immature isolation, culture and staining techniques of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells. These techniques are worthy of further optimization studies. Although in recent years, cellmarkers and tracer technology of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cell s have made great progress, there are stil many problems need to be solved.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effects of Shengli capsules on the sexual ability of normal and castrated male rats.

METHODSShengli capsules were given by intragastric administration to 100 experimental male rats at different doses of 0.35, 0.70 and 1.40 g / kg. Data were collected and analyzed, including capture latency period, times of capture, sexual endurance and times of ejaculation, to assess the effects of Shengli capsules on the sexual ability of the rats. The Castrated Animal Impotence Model was employed to determine the erectile latency period and the function parameters of the preputial gland, seminal vesicle and prostate, so as to test the effects of Shengli on the development of the rats'sexual organs.

RESULTSShengli was proved to be effective in shortening copulation latency in the dose groups of 0.35, 0.70 and 1.40 g / kg (P < 0.01), increasing significantly the frequency of capture in the high- and low-dose groups of 0.35 and 1.40 g / kg (P < 0.05), reducing the latency period to erection in the low-dose group of 0.35 g / kg, and blocking the shrink of the seminal vesicle and prostate in the medium-dose group of 0.70 g / kg.

CONCLUSIONShengli is significantly effective in enhancing the sexual ability of male rats: it can boost libido, increase erection frequency and improve sexual performance. However, further studies have yet to be done on its action mechanisms.

OBJECTIVETo study the severity of periodontitis and risk factors in Chengdu.

METHODS202 periodontitis patients (65 male, 137 female), aged from 25 to 60, were requested to fill a questionnaire. Probing depth (PD), clinical attachment level (CAL), gingival recession and bleeding on probing (BOP) on 6 sites of each tooth were measured and recorded.

RESULTSThe mean PD, AL, gingival recession and BOP% of 202 subjects was (3.2 +/- 0.31) mm, (3.5 +/- 0.37) mm, (0.3 +/- 0.02) mm and 21.16%. 59% of subjects missed at least one tooth. 129 subjects suffered with initial to moderate periodontitis. 73 subject suffered with advanced periodontitis. 40, 86, 55 and 21 subjects had received college education, high school education, middle school education and primary school education. 18% of subjects had smoking history, 67% subjects had tea/coffee history, 66% of subjects had psychosocial problem, and only 8% of subjects had received regular periodontal treatment. There is no relationship between the severity of periodontitis and education.

CONCLUSIONIt is very important to develop an education program on oral healthy for people in Chengdu.

OBJECTIVETo observe effects of combination of different points on glucose metabolism in the patient of cerebral infarction.

METHODSNeiguan (PC 6), Shuigou (GV 26), Fengchi (GB 20), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Yinlingquan (SP 9), Taichong (LR 3) were selected for the Xingnao Kaiqiao group (n =7), and Hegu (LI 4), Quchi (LI 11), Zusanli (ST 36), Yanglingquan (GB 34) and Xuanzhong (GB 39) for the routine acupuncture group (n = 5). PET-CT was used to observe the local cerebral glucose metabolism.

RESULTSThe cerebral regions activated in the the Xingnao Kaiqiao group included infarction center, gyrus temporalis superior, thalamus, gyrus temporalis inferior, gyrus rectus, insula, lateral occipital lobe, parietal lobe and cerebellum, and in the routine acupuncture group included gyrus frontalis inferior, caudate nucleus, cingulated gyrus, hippocampus, precuneus and parietal lobe.

CONCLUSIONPET is very suitable for exploring acupuncture mechanisms in treatment of cerebral infarction, and further shows the specificity of acupoints-brain functional region.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the adverse events occurred during tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-αblocker treatment in Chinese Han population patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS).MethodsThis study had enrolled 369 Chinese Han population patients with ankylosing spondylitis.They all received TNF-αblocker treatment in the hospital.All 1011 administration were recorded in total.All of them were evaluated for adverse events 2 hours after injection,126 of them had received long-term TNF-α blocker injection,and they were followed-up at week 8,12,52,104.Mild immediate adverse events and long-term adverse events were all counted.SPSS 10.0 software package was used for Fisher's exact test.ResultsThree hundred and sixty-nine patients had 1011 administrations in total,652 had received rhTNFR:Fc,316 had infliximab,21had etanercept,22 had adalimumab injections.Adverse events 2 hours after injection were:17 (2.6％) for rhTNFR:Fc,12 (3.8％) for infliximab,0 for etanercept,1 (4.5％) for adalimumab.Twenty adverse events were mild(12 for rhTNFR:Fc,9 for infliximab),5 events were moderate(3 for rhTNFR:Fc,1 for infliximab,1 for adalimumab),4 events were severe(2 for rhTNFR:Fc,2 for infliximab).The frequency of adverse events were comparable between rhTNFR:Fc and Infliximab injection in immediate adverse reactions (P=0.31).One hundred and twenty-six (69 rhTNFR:Fc,57 infliximab) patients had long-term usage,and were followed-up at week 8,12,52,104,39 patients had adverse reactions:20 (51.3％) for rhTNFR:Fc,19(48.7％) for infliximab.Thirty-seven patients had infectious events(94.9％ ),1 neurological event(2.6％),and 1 patient had tuberculosis relapse (2.6％).Outcomes were comparable with rhTNFR:Fc and infliximab in long-term usage(P=0.69).ConclusionAttention should be paid to the above events in Chinese Han patients with ankylosing spondylitis who were treated with TNF-α blocker treatment.Special attention should be paid to those patients who are in their third or fourth injection.The occurrence of immediate reaction or long-term adverse events between rhTNFR:Fc and infliximab are comparable.

To investigate the changes of endocrine, cyclic nucleotide and immune systems in subjects of yang deficiency constitution, and to explore the relationship among characteristics and causes of yang deficiency constitution, the physiological and biochemical parameters.

Objective To learn the current status of health literacy of residents in Wenling City, and to explore the relationship between health literacy and socioeconomic status. Methods A total of 3200 residents aged 15-69 years old from 6 townships were selected by stratified multi-stage random sampling method and probability proportionate to size sampling (PPS) method, and a questionnaire surveyed was conducted. Results Totally 3189 questionnaires were effective and the overall level of health literacy of residents was 19.79％ (631/3189) . The percentages of residents who had the basic health knowledge and concept, healthy lifestyle and behavior, health related skills were 23.27％、 24.21％ and 23.83％, respectively. About 55.47％ of residents had the literacy of safety and first-aid, which was the highest, followed by 38.66％ with scientific health belief, 32.77％ with literacy for disease prevention, 26.12％ with health information, 14.14％ with primary medical care and 7.49％ with the literacy for chronic disease prevention. Logistic regression model showed that the health literacy level with institutions class was 2.25 times of manual workers class, and the health literacy level of people have bachelor degree or above was 6.93 times less literate or illiterate, and the health literacy level of family income of 200 thousand Yuan and above was 7.70 times of 0～50 thousand Yuan. The health literacy were different among different socioeconomic status residents (P<0.01) . Conclusion There are obvious gaps in health literacy among different socioeconomic status groups. Health education should be strengthened among residents, especially among the manual workers class, low education class and low income class.

Objective To describe the current status of social support of ovarian cancer patients received the chemotherapy,and to analysis how the social support affects the patients. Methods A descriptive study method was used. A total of 61 ovarian cancer patients received the chemotherapy were investigated with questionnaires on their social support, so as to learn the current status of patients' social support and analyze the effect of general information on social support. Results Social support of ovarian cancer patients received the chemotherapy was in a high level(74.63±6.66) , the support from home(26.67±2.29) was better that from others. Age (P<0.05), cultural degree (P<0.05) and medical expenses (P<0.05) of chemotherapy were of a statistical significance to the influence of social support of the ovarian cancer patients. Conclusions Nurses should pay attention to the effect of the social support system to improve the life quality and carry out health education to family members on importance of support on patients from home. At the same time, nurses should show enthusiastic about patients and mobilize social support system to promote the confidence of ovarian cancer patients on chemotherapy and promote their rehabilitation.

OBJECTIVETo study the difference and similarity between Hans and Uighurs in regard to Rhesus box and its significance.

METHODSThe sequence specific primers of upstream, downstream and hybrid Rhesus boxes were designed on the basis of RHD gene sequence. The upstream, downstream and hybrid Rhesus boxes were determined by polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific primer(PCP-SSP) and mismatched PCR.

RESULTSThe percentage of RHD-/RHD-, RHD+/RHD- and RHD+/RHD+ genotypes ascertained in the unrelated Hans with RhD(-) were 61.40%, 34.21% and 4.39% respectively, while those in the unrelated Chinese Uighurs with RhD(-) were 94.44%, 2.78% and 2.78% respectively. Furthermore, all 6 cases of some other minorities were RHD-/RHD- types. The percentage of RHD-/RHD- and RHD+/RHD- genotypes ascertained in the unrelated Chinese Uighurs were significantly higher than those in Chinese Hans (P < 0.01), whereas no statistically significant difference in the percentage of RHD+/RDH+ genotype between the two groups was observed (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe Rh blood group of Uighurs in Xingjiang possesses both Oriental and Caucasian characteristics, which embodies a special ethnical aspect of the Chinese nation and is in accord with the anthropologic research results.

OBJECTIVE: To seek and ascertain indicators that can be used in the civil competence assessment of the mental disorders involved in compensation of personal injury. METHODS: A retrospective study was made on the data related to the interviewee's mental status assessed by forensic experts during the period from 2003 to 2005 in Institute of Forensic Science, Ministry of Justice, P.R.China. The 6 indicators, including awareness of situation, factual understanding of issues, appreciation of likely consequences, rational manipulation of information, functioning in one's own environment, and communication of choice, were graded and statistically analyzed using SPSS 11.5 software. RESULTS: The 6 indicators correlated well with the assessment of forensic experts ,with the related coefficient between 0.632 and 0.876, and the inter-related coefficient among the 6 indicators between 0.575 and 0.911. CONCLUSION The 6 indicators could be used for the civil competence assessment and may also be taken as the basis for further standardization and quantification of civil competence.
