1.Ultrasonic measurement of fetal liver length and its clinical significance
Chinese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2001;36(3):140-142
Objective To establish the normal growth velocity of fetal liver length and compare them with those of intrauterine growth retardation, pregnant diabetes and maternal-fetal blood types imcopatible. Method Three hundred and five normal pregnant women and 24, 10, 16 pathological pregnant women of intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR), gestational diabetes and maternal-fetal blood types incompatible respectively had ultrasonographic measurement of fetal liver length at 18 to 42 weeks′ gestation. Results Normal fetal liver length has a linear relation to gestational age, and showed a significantly rapid increase after 28th week with a growth rate of 1.76 mm per week, and 1.00 mm per week before 28th week (P<0.05). The growth rate of IUGR group before and after therapy were 1.19 mm and 1.23 mm per week, significantly lower than those of normal group (P<0.05). The growth rate of pregnant diabetes group before and after therapy were 1.63 mm and 1.63 mm per week, no statistical significance with normal group (P>0.05). The growth rate of maternal-fetal blood types incompatible group before therapy was 1.98 mm, showed no difference with normal group (P>0.05), but after therapy, the growth rate of fetal liver was 1.38 mm per week, significantly lower than normal group (P<0.05). Conclusion Dynamic measurement of fetal liver length can help us to understand whether the fetus grow well in uterus and whether the treatments are effective.
2.Content of somatostatin and cholecystokinin-8 in hypothalamus and colons in a rat model of spleen-deficiency syndrome
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2007;5(5):555-8
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the changes of neuropeptides content in a rat model of spleen-deficiency syndrome. METHODS: Rats were randomly divided into three groups: normal group, untreated group and treatment group. There were ten rats in each group. Spleen-deficiency syndrome was induced by intragastrically administration of rhubarb concentrate in rats of the untreated and treatment group. The rats in the treatment group were intragastrically administered with Sijunzi decoction, a traditional Chinese compound herbal medicine for strengthening spleen and supporting qi. Normal saline was intragastrically administered to the rats in the normal and untreated groups. The somatostatin (SS) and cholecystokinin-8 (CCK-8) content in hypothalamus and colons was detected by the method of radioimmunoassay and the D-xylose content in urine was also detected. RESULTS: The CCK-8 content in hypothalamus of the untreated group was higher than that of the normal group (P<0.05). SS and CCK-8 content in colons of the untreated group was higher than that of the normal group (P<0.05). The CCK-8 content in colons of the untreated group was lower than that of the treatment group (P<0.05). The excretion rate of D-xylose in the untreated group was lower than that of the normal group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The disorder of neuroendocrine regulation in rats with spleen-deficiency syndrome may be chiefly responsible for "spleen-deficency and dysfunction of spleen" in traditional Chinese medicine.

4.Tissue-engineered tendon construction using bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells induced by bone morphogenetic protein 12
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2013;(27):4941-4950
BACKGROUND: The previous methods for the repair of tendon defect include end-to-end method, autologous tendon graft, tendon al ograft or artificial tendon transplantation, but each method has its advantages and disadvantages. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the feasibility of constructing tissue-engineered tendon by rabbit bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells as seed cells which were induced by bone morphogenetic protein 12 and with col agen-polyglycolic acid composite as frameworks in the repair of rabbit tendon defects. METHODS: Bone marrow was separated from rabbit proximal femur to harvest cells, and the cells were passaged to the second generation and induced with 10 μg/L bone morphogenetic protein 12. Then the passage 2 cells were implanted into the prefabricated tissue-engineered tendon on the polyglycolic acid stitch with certain percentage together with col agenⅠsolution. The rabbits were used to establish the Achil es tendon defect models, and different methods were used to repair Achil es tendon defect: tissue-engineered tendon, col agenⅠ-polyglycolic acid stitch and end-to-end suturing in silk. Morphology, mechanics and shistopathology of the tissue-engineered tendon were observed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Pathomorphological observation of histological section after 12 weeks showed that multiple fusiform fibroblasts were homogeneously distributed in col agen in the direction of stress mechanics.Fibrocytes increased obviously, new smal vessels could be seen and col agen was found aligned compactedly. In col agen Ⅰ-polyglycolic acid stitch group, a part of fibroplasia hyperplasia accompanied by granulation tissue formation could be seen, the col age fibers were in loose filamentous network and the cells were distributed disorderly and unevenly. Granulation tissue formed around the fibrous tissue in the silk group. Biomechanics strength in bone morphogenetic protein 12+polyglycolic acid group was better than that in the col agen Ⅰ-polyglycolic acid group, and there was significant difference when compared with suture silk group. The biomechanics strength of the bone morphogenetic protein 12+polyglycolic acid group was lower than that of normal tendon. It is possible to construct a tissue-engineered tendon with autologous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells as seed cells induced by bone morphogenetic protein 12 and with the col agen-polyglycolic acid as the framework. Constructed tissue-engineered tendon has biomechanics characteristics and can be used to repair Achil es tendon defect.
5.Design and practice of group PK teaching
Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2012;(12):1238-1242
The author designed and practiced group PK teaching model in Pharmaceutical Botany combined with the ideas of educational skill training program in Peking university aiming at promoting students' learning initiative and enthusiasm as well as collective and teamwork sense. The paper discussed the concept of group PK teaching, requirements for teaching design and problems which should be noted in practice from the aspects of introduction, design and practice of the method as well as teaching effect evaluation and teaching method reflection.Survey questionnaire was used to evaluate the preliminary teaching effect of the new teaching method and to explore its teaching thought and educational idea.In practice, group PK teaching model improved students' self-learning awareness and ability, communication skills, collective and teamwork sense.
