2.One case report on orbital and hepatic metastases from primary pancreatic carcinoma
Practical Oncology Journal 2016;30(2):140-141
Orbital metastases rarely occur in the patients with cancer, especially from a primary pancreat-ic carcinoma. In patients presenting ophthalmologic symptoms such as local pain and periorbital edema,it is im-portant to consider orbital metastatic disease. And it is also crucial to determine the site of the primary tumor for better treatments. The mechanism underlying the orbital metastasis from pancreatic carcinoma remains to be clari-fied.In this report,we describe the clinical characteristics of a case with orbital and hepatic metastases from pri-mary pancreatic carcinoma, providing a reference for clinical diagnosis.Computed tomography of the abdomen and left orbit,in combination with intraorbital biopsy, suggesting a primary pancreatic malignancy with metastatic dis-ease.Surgical pathology and histopathological examination results confirmed the diagnosis. After single agent gem-citabine chemotherapy, the patient′s symptoms relieved.

4.Clinical study of chronic renal failure with syndrome of dampness-heat due to spleen deficiency treated with Jianpi Qinghua Recipe
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2005;3(4):270-3
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of Jianpi Qinghua Recipe (JPQHR) on chronic renal failure with syndrome of dampness-heat due to spleen deficiency and its mechanism. METHODS: One hundred and six patients were randomly divided into two groups: control group (53 patients treated with routine therapy) and JPQHR-treated group (53 patients treated with routine therapy and JPQHR). RESULTS: Routine therapy combined with JPQHR could improve symptoms. The serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, triglyceride and low density lipoprotein decreased significantly in the JPQHR-treated group as compared with those in the control group (P<0.05), while the number of erythrocyte rosette-forming cells increased significantly in the JPQHR-treated group as compared with those in the control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Routine therapy combined with JPQHR can significantly decrease blood lipid level and strengthen cellular immune system, so it can lower the urine protein in the early and middle stages of chronic renal failure and improve renal function.
5.Effects of GATA6 silencing mediated by lentivirus on apoptosis of human liver cancer Huh-7 cells
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2015;(5):938-942
AIM:To explore the effect of GATA6 gene silencing on apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma Huh-7 cells.METHODS:RNA interference vectors of the target gene GATA6 mediated by lentivirus were constructed in vitro to transfect the hepatocellular carcinoma cell line Huh-7.The apoptotic rate of transfected cells was measured by flow cytome-try.The protein expression of GATA6, NF-κB and Bcl-2 in transfected cells was determined by Western blotting.RE-SULTS:The transfection efficiency was 57.4%.The mRNA and protein expression of GATA6 reduced significantly after the carcinoma cell line Huh-7 being transfected by RNA interference vectors mediated by lentivirus. The apoptotic rate of the carcinoma cells with silent GATA6 gene was significantly increased (P<0.05).The protein expression levels of NF-κB and Bcl-2 were also significantly decreased.CONCLUSION: Lentiviral vector-mediated RNA interference of GATA6 has an inhibitory effect on the expression of the gene itself, and promotes the apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells.Regu-lation of the apoptosis-related protein expression by the NF-κB signaling to influence the proliferation and apoptosis of hepa-tocellular carcinoma cells might be one of the possible mechanisms.

Journal of Environment and Health 1992;0(05):-
Objective In order to approach the application of TOXTRACER in testing acute toxicity of water quality. Methods The luminescent inhibition rates of luminescent bacteria(Vibrio fisheri) in different conditions were detected by TOXTRACER made in Holland using HgCl2 as a toxicant and luminescent inhibition rates or EC50 values using all kinds of water samples were detected. Results Little difference was seen among luminescent inhibition rates of the bacteria in 10, 15, and 30 min reaction time groups using 0.2 mg/L HgCl2 solution. The variation coefficients of luminescent inhibition rates of the bacteria using 0.10, 0.20 and 0.40 mg/L HgCl2 solution at 15 min reaction time point were 12.3%, 2.6%, and 0.9% respectively. In 10-30 min reaction time a good linear relationship was found between concentrations of HgCl2 and luminescent inhibition rates, EC50 value was not variable. With TOXTRACER the Vibrio fisheri could be used for 5 consecutive hours and they were much more sensitive to HgCl2 than Photobacterium phosphoreum T3(a luminescent bacteria produced in China). The relationship between the luminescent inhibition rates of Vibrio fisheri and concentrations of given toxicants, As2+ (0.2-40.0 mg/L), Cr3+ (0.5-5.0 mg/L), Hg2+ (0.05-0.40 mg/L), was found to be linear. Conclusion TOXTRACER can be used for direct quantitative analysis of the acute toxicity of water samples.
9.The change of regulatory T cells of PBMC and the effects of CpG ODN in patients with lung cancer
Chinese Journal of Immunology 2010;26(4):365-367,374
Objective:To study the change of regulatory T cells in PBMC and the effects of CpG ODN in patients with lung cancer. Methods: Lymphocytes isolated from blood of 30 patients with lung canaer and 30 healthy volunteers were analyzed for the proportion of CD4 ~+CD25~+ T cells by flow cytometry. The mRNA expression of Foxp3 was detected by real-time PCR and the levels of TGF-β and IFN-γ were tested by ELLSA.The PBMC of 30 patients with lung cancer were randomly divided into treated group(CpG ODN 2006)and placebo group(CpG ODN 1612).The proportion of CD4 ~+ CD25~+ T cells, the mRNA expression of Foxp3 and the levels of TGF-β and IFN-γ were compared before and after treatment. Results:Tbe proportion of CD4~+ CD25~+ T cells, the mRNA expression of Foxp3 and the levels of TGF-β in patients with lung cancer were higher than those in healthy volunteers, but there was no significant difference in such parameters among subgroups of pathologic classification and clinical stage patients. The proportion of CD4 ~+ CD25~+ T cells, the mRNA expression of Foxp3 and the levels of TGF-β were dropped in CpG ODN 2006 group after treatment. There was no significant difference in these parameters before and after treatment in CpG ODN 1612 group. Conclusion: The proportion of CD4~+ CD25 ~+ T cells, the mRNA expression of Foxp3 and the levels of TGF-β of PBMC in lung cancer patients are higher than those in healthy volunteers.Treating by CpG ODN 2006 could down-regulate the proportion of CD4~+ CD25~+ Foxp3~+ regulatory T cells and the levels of TGF-β of PBMC from the patients with lung cancer.
