Objective To determine the allele and genotype frequencies of two single nucleotide polymor-phisms (SNPs) 677C/T,1298A/C in the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR) gene in Chinese Southern Han individuals, and to assess whether there are differences in alleles frequencies among rheumatoid arthritis(RA) patients and normal controls. Methods 187 subjects(101 normal controls and 86 RA patients) were analyzed. The slide frequencies were carried out with polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment langth polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The two MTHFR SNPs Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, linkage disequilibrium were analyzed with population genetics methods. Results The allele distribution of SNPs was in good unity with Hardy-Weinberg eqilibrium. The genotype frequencies of 677CC, CT, TT were 36.0%, 51.2%, 12.8%, respectively, in RA group, and 42.6%, 44.6% ,12.9%, respectively, in controls. The genotype frequencies of 1298AA,AC、CC were 60.5%、32.6%、 7.0%, respectively, in RA group, and 49.5% ,46.5% ,4.0% ,respectively, in controls. The frequencies of rarely allele 677T were 38. 4% and 35.1% in RA and controls. The 1298C were 23.3% and 27.2% in RA and controls. Allele frequencies were similar between RA group and controls, and there is no linkage between two SNPs and RA. The relationship between 677C/T and 1298A/C was strong linkage disequilibrium. Conclusions The research pro-vided Chinese southern Han population genetics data on MTHFR gene. The relationship between 677C/T and 1298A/C was strong linkage disequilibrium.

Because of their ability to inhibit osteoclast-mediated bone destruction,bisphosphonates are widely used in the treatment of malignant bone diseases.Recent preclinical evidence shows that bisphosphonates not only exert direct anti-tumor effects but also have anti-angiogenic properties.And furthermore,they may act synergistically with other chemotherapeutics or T cells on tumors.These new findings are ushering in the possible application of bisphosphonates as anti-tumor therapeutics in clinical practice.

Background Fungal keratitis has a high incidence in China and its clinical treatment is very difficult,and its etiology diagnosis and appraisal is the premise to improve the prognosis of disease.With the changes of regional environment and climate in recent years,whether the spectrum of fungal keratitis change in South China is remarkable.Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate recent pathogenic distribution of fungal keratitis in South China area.Methods The consecutive fungal culture resuhs of 3 350 purulent keratitis at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center from January 2009 to December 2014 were retrospectively reviewed.The positive rate of fungal culture,genus or species distribution,seasonal distribution and different term distribution were analyzed.Results The culture-positive rate was 31.34％ in this study (1 050/3 350),and the average culture-positive number was 175 strains per year.In the positive fungus,the highest positive rate was Fusarium SP (32.10％,337/1 050),and followed by Aspergillus SP (25.71％,270/1 050),Heminthosporium SP (14.29 ％,150/1 050) and Mucor SP (9.14％,96/1 050).The fungal culture-positive rate was 36.05％ (367/1 018) in 2009 to 2010,32.45％ (324/1 014) in 2011 to 2012,and 26.86％ (354/1 318) in 2013 to 2014,respectively,with a significant difference among the three periods (x2 =22.37,P＜0.01),showing a decreasing tendency of incidence.Two hundreds and sixtyone strains were isolated from January to March (31.15 ％,261/838),182 strains from April to June (25.53 ％,182/713),237 strains from July to September (30.00％,237/790),370 strains from October to December (36.67％,370/1 009),showing a statistically significant difference among them (x2 =25.19,P ＜ 0.01).The number of infectious strains was most during October to December and fewest during April to June.Conclusions The leading pathogenic fungi of fungal keratitis is Fusarium SP and followed by Aspergillus SP,Helminthosporium SP,Mucor SP in turn.Fungal keratitis is usually prevalent from October to December,and its incidence is still rising in Chinese mainland recently.However,the increasing tendency in South China has been prevented in recent six years.

Objective To investigate the efficacy of low-dose retention enema for treating ulcerative colitis.Methods Eighty patients diagnosed with chronic recurrent ulcerative colitis were randomly divided into control group and observation group with equal number.The retention enema was used in the control group and the improved retention enema was used in the observation group. Enema was done once every night,10 days as a course of treatment in both groups.The two groups were compared in terms of liquid retention time,curative effect after two courses and patients’satisfaction degree with enema.Results The liquid retention time in the intestinal lumen in the observation group was significantly longer than that of the control group.The efficacy was significantly better than the control group.Patients satisfaction with enema in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusions The improved low-dose liquid enema is effective in the treatment of ulcerative colitis for its liquid retention time in the intestines.It is effective,comfortable,convenient,and likely to be accepted by patients.

[Objective] To explore the possible interest of therapeutic approaches including nitrogen-containing biphosphonate zoledronic acid using osteosarcoma cell lines MG63,and to investigate whether there is a synergism between zoledronic acid and methotrexate.[Method]Zoledronic acid alone or combined with methotrexate was used to treat human ostoesarcoma cells line MG63.The cell growth inhibition was assessed by MTT.[Result]There was a dose-dependent and time-dependent(1-100?mol/L)inhibition of cell proliferation by zoledronic acid.IC50 value of zoledronic acid for therapy of MG63 after 72h was 9.39 ?mol/L.The cell growth inhibition rates of MG63 at 72 h was 48.95% in zoledronic acid(10 ?mol/L)group,and 37.68%,45.93% and 52.42% in methotrexate groups MTX(1,10 and 100 mg/L).When combined treatment of zoledronic acid(10?mol/L)and methotrexate(1,10 and 100 mg/L)was used,the cell growth inhibition rates were 51.96%,66.77% and 69.23%,respectively.The combination of zoledronic acid and methotrexate demonstrated a synergistic effect.The differences were significant(P

Environmental pollution could affect human health.The valuation on economic health loss due to environmental pollution could assist environment management to set more efficient environment policy.Contingent valuation method(CVM)is the worldwide used method to value loss caused by environmental pollution.CVM is a state preference non-market valuation method,which can flexibly assess the full economic value of public goods.CVM has been rarely used in environmental health loss valuation in China.Economic theory,application technique of CVM and it's potential bias was reviewed and discussed in this paper.Compared with the other methods,it could be concluded that CVM is a promising tool to value health loss by environment pollution in China.

Objective To present a modified technique of total cystectomy and ileal neobladder. Methods Radical cystectomy and ileal neobladder were performed for 25 male patients. The dome, the upper part or the lateral walls and the base of the bladder were dissected antegradly. After cutting the ureters, the mobilization was then made retrogradly.For the construction of the reservior, the isolated 40 cm ileal segment was opened along its antimesenteric border and then arranged into a W shape. The wall of ileal pouch was created by side-to-side blanket suture of the incised ileum. The ureters were implanted at the two corners of W shape with antireflux nipple. Results 24 of 25 cases of ileal neobladder have been followed up for 2 to 84 months with a mean of 24 months.The operation took 150 to 310 minutes with a mean of 240 minutes. The intraoperative blood transfusion was 0 to 1200 ml.1 patient died of cancer metastasis. 23 patients have achieved excellent daytime continence,whereas only 14 had nighttime continence. The mean bladder capacity for the entire group was 310 ml. Renal functions of 2 patients were mildly abnormal.Hypokalemia occurred in 2.There was no metabolic acidosis.There were 3 cases of hydroureter or hydronephrosis on one side. 1 calculus of neobladder was discovered on BUS. On voiding cystography, no reflux has been noted in all.And no patient suffered from urethral recurrence. Conclusions The modified total cystectomy and ileal neobladder takes less time and is more feasible.

Objective　To compare the effects of early and long-term treatment with captopril on clinical outcome between elder patients (65-75 years old) and younger patients (＜ 64 years old) suffering from acute myocardial infarction (AMI). 　Methods　In a randomized trial, 822 patients with a first AMI were treated with captopril at initial dosage of 6.25 mg and adjusted to 25 mg t.i.d according to blood pressure (209 younger patients, 269 elder patients) and conventional treatment (131 younger patients, 213 elder patients). Survival rate of the four groups was calculated with Kaplan-Meier method. 　Results　The survival of treatment group was correlated significantly with age during hospitalization (P=0.0002). Eight patients in younger treatment group and 10 patients in younger control group (3.83% vs 7.63%, P＞0.05), 25 patients in elder treatment group and 52 patients in elder control group (9.29% vs 24.41%, relative risk = 0.37, 95% CI 0.29-0.48, P＜0.0001) were died. During follow-up period, the survival was however not related to the age (P＞0.05), and both the elder and younger patients had better survival (all P＜0.01 ) and lower cardiac events (all P＜0.01) during captopril treatment. 　Conclusions　 Captopril exerts less effect on the younger patients but more effect on the elder patients during hospitalization after AMI. Long-term captopril had no difference between the youngers and the elders in prognosis.
