1.Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis in children
International Journal of Pediatrics 2013;(2):179-182
Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis is an autoimmune syndrome of central nervous system. The main clinical manifestations include psychiatric symptoms, movement disorders and seizures. It is often misdiagnosed as viral encephalitis.Tumors, especially the ovarian teratoma, play an important role in the disease. The prevalence in children is beyond imagination.Anti-NMDAR antibodies are specific diagnostic tests.Immune suppression is the main treatment. The first-line treatments include corticosteroids, intravenous immunoglobulin, and plasmapheresis. The second-line treatments include biological agents and cytotoxic drugs.Early diagnosis and treatment are essential for neurologic recovery.Overall prognosis is good.

Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2004;10(12):731-732
ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between carotid atherosclerosis and progressing stroke.Methods103 patients with acute cerebral infarction within the first 24 hours from onset were tested with carotid color doppler ultrasonography during the first week from admission. Univariate and multiple logistic regression analyses were performed to examine the relationship between carotid intima media thickness (IMT), plaque structure, the degree of artery stenosis and the early deterioration of cerebral infarction.ResultsPrevalence of carotid plaque and thickness of IMT in patients with progressing stroke were higher than that in non progressing patients. In logistic regression, presence of carotid plaque was independent predictors of progressing stroke. Plaque size, extent of artery stenosis and IMT were not included in the regression model.ConclusionPlaque structure and its chemical feature may be the cause of progressing stroke.
5.The value of flow cytometry in diagnosis of non-Hodgkin′s lymphoma
International Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2014;(10):1318-1319
Objective To evaluate the clinical performance of flow cytometry (FCM ) in diagnosis of non-hodgkin′s lymphoma (NHL) .Methods Pathological examination ,immunohistochemical staining and FCM were adopted to detect the 32 patients with NHL and 30 patients with non-NHL .Results In 32 patients with NHL ,the diagnostic sensitivities of pathological examination ,im-munohistochemistry and FCM were 78 .1% ,46 .9% and 84 .4% ,respectively .In 30 patients with non-NHL ,the diagnostic specifici-ties of pathological examination ,immunohistochemical staining and FCM were 100 .0% ,80 .0% and 83 .3% ,respectively .Conclusion FCM improves diagnostic accuracy of lymphoma in lymph node biopsy samples .
6.Effects of Yanghe Decoction on vascular endothelial growth factor in cartilage cells of osteoarthritis rabbits
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2008;6(4):372-5
OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of Yanghe Decoction on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in cartilage cells of osteoarthritis rabbits. METHODS: Fifteen New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into normal group, untreated group and Yanghe Decoction-treated group. The rabbit model of osteoarthritis was established according to Hulth's method. The rabbits were sacrificed at the 8th week after administration of Yanghe Decoction for 14 days, and then rabbit tibia articular cartilage was removed. Sections of the cartilage were stained with Safranin O for histological examination. The cartilage histological characteristics were observed according to the method of Mankin. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to investigate the expression of VEGF. Articular cartilages were observed with microscopy and image analysis method was used to measure the expression intensity of VEGF. RESULTS: There were significant differences in Mankin score between normal group and untreated group (P<0.01), and between untreated group and Yanghe Decoction-treated group (P<0.01). Immunohistochemical staining indicated that the expression intensity of VEGF in untreated group was significantly increased as compared with that in normal group (P<0.01), and also obviously higher than Yanghe Decotion-treated group. CONCLUSION: VEGF plays an important role during early stage of OA. Yanghe Decoction can protect the articular cartilage through suppressing the VEGF expression in chondrocytes and then suppress angiogenesis.
8.A preliminary report on solid-state fermentation of Ganoderma lucidum with Radix Astragali containing medium
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2004;2(3):216-8
OBJECTIVE: To test the practicability of the solid-state fermentation for medicinal fungi by fermenting Ganoderma lucidum with Radix Astragali containing medium. METHODS: Ganoderma lucidum was fermented in ordinary medium, drug-containing medium (containing Radix Astragali) and selenium-rich drug-containing medium respectively. The polysaccharide contents of fermentation products from the three kinds of culture media were tested at different time, and the changes were compared. RESULTS: The polysaccharide contents of fermentation products from the three kinds of culture media were 4.65%, 3.76% and 4.50% respectively and their relative standard deviation were 1.61%, 1.99% and 1.86% respectively. By observing the changes of the contents of polysaccharide, protein and total saponin in fermentation products from the drug-containing medium at different time, it was found that the 28th fermentation day was the time when secondary metabolism was most active, and it should be the fermented terminal point. CONCLUSION: The fermentative combination of Ganoderma lucidum and Radix Astragali is practicable.
9.Advances of combined treatment for chronic hepatitis B with lamivudine
Journal of Integrative Medicine 2003;1(2):146-50
This paper summarized the effects of the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) by lamivudine combined with traditional Chinese medicine or western medicine in the past few years. Combined treatment of lamivudine and the other medicine had higher efficiency than lamvudine alone in the treatment of CHB. The Combined treatment should be a tendency of the treatment for chronic hepatitis B. The focal point is that the traditional Chinese recipe produces a multitarget effect in the treatment of CHB. The combined treatment of lamivudine and traditional Chinese recipe can reduce the treatment course and the recurrence rate. Combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine has notable superiority and broad developing prospect in the treatment of CHB.
