A 7-year-old girl had a 7 × 6cm sized dark red colored tumor on the left elbow and several erythematous macules on the face, right upper arm, and both thighs. Her general health was good and all laboratory findings were within normal limit. Histopathologic examination revealed an infiltration of atypical mononuclear cells in the dermis and subcutis. L26 and leukocyte common antigen were positively stained in an immunohistochemical study. According to clinical, histological and immunohistochemical findings, we diagnosed the disease as primary cutaneous B cell lymphoma. The patient's skin lesions markedly improved after a surgical excision and chemotherapy.

Sleep Medicine and Psychophysiology 2004;11(2):84-88
OBJECTIVES: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) syndrome is diagnosed through history, physical examination, imaging studies and polysomnography. Clinical examination of this condition may point to hypertrophic tonsils and crowded oropharynx. The objective of this study is to investigate the usefulness of modified Mallampati grade (MMG) and tonsil grade (TG) in predicting the severity of obstructive sleep apnea. METHODS: MMG and TG were divided into 4 and 5 groups, respectively, according to their severity. Medical records were collected from 94 patients who had received polysomnography and otorhinolaryngologic examination for snoring and sleep apnea at Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center from March 2002 through April 2004. Patients were divided into two groups according to the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) : control (n=24), and patients with sleep apnea (n=70). RESULTS: Patients with higher MMG and TG had higher AHI, and MMG and TG proved to have a statistically significant correlation with AHI (p< 0.05) CONCLUSION: MMG and TG were reliable predictors of OSA and helpful parameters in deciding treatment method.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1995;36(4):713-718
The familial exudative vitreoretinopathy is an autosomal dominantly inherited disease and shows abnormalities of the retina and vitreous. It affects both eyes in most cases, but the involvement is often asymmetric. Thus it is important to screen familial members carefully, since they may have only mild, nonprogressive changes in the retinal periphery. It is important to know family history of the disorder and history of prematurity or oxygen supplementation, since the clinical features are most similar to retinopathy of prematurity. The authors experienced three cases of familial exudative vitreoretinopathy in a 2-year-old girl with cryotherapy and her father and her brother with asymptomatic familial exudative vitreoretinopathy that has retinal vascular avascular zone of peripheral retina.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1995;33(6):911-916
PURPOSE: To evaluate the radiologic findings of granulomatous colitis on double contrast barium enema and changes on follow-up studies. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Serial double contrast barium enemas of six patients with granulomatous colitis confirmed by endoscopic biopsy were reviewed. We analyzed the radiologic findings and their follow-up changes, including aphthous ulcers, lymphoid hyperplasia, deep ulcers, cobble stone appearance, geographic ulcers, asymmetric involvement of ulcers, skip lesions, sinus tract, fistula formation, pseudosacculation, focal stricture, and small bowel involvement. RESULTS: Pretreatment double contrast baruim enema findings were aphthous ulcers in five patients, deep ulcer in six, cobble stone appearance in five, longitudinal geographic ulcers in two, fistulas in one, pseudo-sacculations in two, focal stricture in one, and pseudopolyps in six. Also, anal ulcers were observed in two patients, asymmetric involvement of ulcers in three, skip lesions in four, and small bowel involvement in five in five patients proved to have inactive disease after treatment, aphthous ulcers and deep ulcers disappeared. Geographic ulcers of two patients and anal ulcer of one patients decreased in size or depth. Pseudosacculation in one patient disappeared. Pseudopolyps decreased in two patients, increased in one, and decreased after increase in two. One patient whose disease remained active after treatment showed maintenance or increase of ulcers or fistula. And their pseudosacculation or focal stricture unchanged and pseudopolyps decreased. CONCLUSION: The major radiologic findings of chronic granulomatous colitis on double contrst barium enema are aphthous ulcer, deep ulcer, cobble stone appearance, discontinuity of the lesion, and coexistence of ulcers and pseudopolyps. And, double contrast barium enema is good follow-up modality because its findings correlate with clinical course of the granulomatous colitis after treatment.
