2.Clinical Analysis of Pathological Fracture of Long Bones
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1970;5(3):143-147
The authors attempted a clinical study on 45 patients of the Pathologic fracture treated at Orthopedic Department, the National Medical Center in the period of 1959 through 1969. Sixty eight established pathologic fractures in 45 patients were analsyed and classified, namey 21 Osteomyelitis, 15 Bone tumors, 3 Osteogenesis Imperfecta and etc. Treatment was variably selected according to the underlying diseases and type of fractures. Special consideration and review of literatures for the different circumstances of pathologic fractures were empirically depicted.

3.Volkmann's Ischemic Contracture in the Lower Extremity: A Report of Three Cases
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1971;6(1):51-56
Three cases of Volkmann's ischemic contracture in the lower extremity, which is relatively rare manifestation, are reported, One case has occurred as a complication of snake-bite, another was followed by CO intoxication and the third was caused by a direct trauma, which gave a rupture of the main artery in the thigh. The common clinical manifestation were deformity of the foot as equinus, equinovarus and cavus deformities. One case had an additional flexion contracture of the knee. One case was opearted by Achilles tendon lengthening, posterior capsulotomy of the ankle, and plantar fasciotomy, another case was operated by supracondylar osteotomy of the femur in order to correct flexion deformity of the knee followed by B-K amputation, the third was operated by triple arthrodesis of the foot with dorsal wedging.

4.Experiences on the Surgical Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis: Analysis of the Results
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1970;5(4):173-179
Surgical treatment, especially the early synovectomy is now closed-up in the field of orthopedic fields for last several years. Authors had experienced in 30 operations for advanced rheumatoid arthritis. A suruey is carried out with analysis of operation result (Excellent 4 cases, Good 13 cases, Fair 7 cases and Poor 6 cases) in regard to pre-operative contracture of joint. X-ray findings and findings on operating table. Operative finding namely the extent of tissue involvement of the joint is found to be closely related with the final results Some details and important points of treatment are emphasized with reference reviews.

5.A Clinical Analysis of Bone and Joint Tuberculosis Complicated with Mixed Infection
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1971;6(1):27-35
200 cases of bone and joint tuberculosis complicated with mixed infection treated at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, National Medical Center through the year of 1958 to 1971 were analyzed and reported in this paper. 1. All the mixed infections complicated in bone and joint tuberculosis occurred secondarily as a complication of the formation of fistula in this series. 2. The incidence of the fistula formation as a complication of bone and joint tuberculosis was considerably higher as 117 out of 200 cases in the age group of 10–30 years compared with other age groups. Accordingly the incidence of mixed infection was higher in this age group than other groups in same proportion in this seiies. 3. Mixed infection occurred relatively earlier after the fistuIar was formed. 46 out of 200cases (23%) had mixed infection one month after the fistula was formed. 4. Majority of the fistula developed spontaneously as 129 out of 200 cases (64.5%) 5. 135 cases of fistula developed during the treatment with PAS. and INH, and 11 cases developed fistula during triple antituberculosis therapy with PAS. INH. and Streptomycin. 6. Majority of the causative microorganism was Staphylococcus aureus as 210 out 360 cultures. (58.3%). 7. The result of the treatment was evaluated, and the result of radical operation gave remarkably higher incidence of healing, 110 out of 130 cases, than that of medical treatment, 33 healing out of 64 cases.

78 cases of ankle fracture are experienced and especially 25 cases of supination-outward rotation injuries treated during the period from January 1959 to October 1970 were analyed. 1) 17 cases of male and 8 cases of female, and 11 caces in right side and remaider in left side. 2) According to the Lauge-Hansens classification, 5 cases in type II, and 20 cases in type IV. 3) Conservative treatment was given in 8 cases and open reduction in 17 cases. 4) A comparison has been made between functional results treated by conservative treatment and open reduction; satisfactory results were obtained in 3 cases of type II and I case of type IV by conservative treatment. I case of type II and 14 cases of type IV by open reduction. 5) Time of complete healing by bony union were 7. 8 weeks in conservative treatment and 9. 3 weeks in open reduction. 6) Wound infection, necrosis of wound edge and pseudoarthrosis were noted as post-operative complications.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1972;7(1):117-124
6 cases of idopathic asceptic necrosis of femoral head were experienced at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Age distribution ranged from 19 to 58 years and the ratio of sex was 3:3. Two of them had bilateral involvement of necrosis of femoral head. Two of them were primarily treated by means of arthrotomy, joint debridement and drilling of the necrotic area. Symptoms only temporarily relieved and required further surgical procedure. As a whole, arthrodesis in 2, cup arthroplasty in 1, Austin-Moor hip prosthesis in 2 and total hip prosthesis, McKee-Farrar type, in 1 case were performed. Four of the mobile operation of the hip restored satisfactory range of hip motions despite the types of surgery.

A case of progressive hypertrophic interstitial neuropathy developed in the median nerve of the right hand is reported. The patient was a 27-year old housewife who had complained of numbness and shooting pain on the median nerve distribution of the right hand for last 13 years, with recent aggrevation. And clinically palpated thickened sausage like mass in right distal forearm and palm mainly at the thenar eminence. Most part of redundant tumor tissus was excised, and complete excision of the transverse carpal ligament for release of compression and adhesiolysis was performed with relief of the symptoms.
