Ultrasono-guided percutaneous catheter drainage of 28 abscesses and fluid collections was performed. In 24cases, operation was avoided and the patients were cured(24/28). Of these, 4 cases were recurred and repeatedcatheter drainage was performed. There were two failures and partial success was achieved in 2 cases; in thesepatients, operation was necessary, although the patients benefited from the percutaneous drainage. Cures andpartial successes totaled 26/28. We describe significance of the diagnostic needle aspiration, especially inpredicting the drainability of cavity contents. We review aspects of postprocedurecatheter management includingirrigation and timining of withdrawal.

This mycological and cultural investigation was made in 86 cases of onychomycosis diagnosed on positive KOH wet mount at Chosun University Hospital from October, 1989 to February, 1990. The results were as follows : l. The ratio of male to female was 1.2:1. According to Zaiass classificat.ion, distal subungual onychomycosis (DSO) was the most predominant type(79 cases) and others, in decreasing frequency, were superficial white onychomycosis (SWO) (Fcases), total dyst, rophic onychomycosis (TDO) (1 cases, and proximal subungual onychomycosis (PSO) was not. found. 2. In DSO, isolat,ed fungi were T. mentagrophyte(31 cases), "i'. rubrum(23 c

The human hand is a highly sophisticated tool of sensibility and prehension, and the reconstruction of injured hands are essential to not only reconstruct of hand function but also reconstruct of body. Seven cases of tendocutaneous flap, a case of osteocutaneous flap, nine cases of thumb reconstruction with a free neurovascular wrap-around flap from the big toe, two cases of second toe-to-index trander, and a case of left ring finger to right index finger transfer were performed at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery of Hanyang University Hospital, and satisfactory results were obtained both comsmetically and functionally.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 2004;42(5):631-633
Lichen myxedematosus (synonym, papular mucinosis) is a disorder characterized by lichenoid papules, nodules and plaques due to dermal mucin deposition, and a variable degree of fibrosis without thyroid dysfunction. Discrete lichen myxedematosus is a subtype of the localized lichen myxedematosus. Clinically, firm, smooth, waxy or flesh-colored papules measuring 2 to 5 mm in diameter, numbering just a few to hundreds, and involving limbs and trunk. The lesions progress slowly without systemic symptoms and rarely resolve spontaneously. Histologically, the upper and mid dermis shows edema and diffuse or focal mucinous deposit under normal epidermis. Fibroblast proliferation is variable, but there is neither collagen deposition nor sclerosis. On experiencing a case of discrete grouped papules on the arm and thigh of a sixty three year-old women, we present it as discrete lichen myxedematosus.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1990;28(1):94-98
Malignant fibrous histiocytoma is the most common soft tissue sarcoma in adult life and shows a mixed proliferation of both fibroblsstic & histiocytic cells. We report a case of myxoid malignant fibrous histiocytoma involving right lower leg in a 68-year-old male patient, who presented with a childs palm-sized nodular mass of 3 years duration. Histoapthologically, the tumor had varying proportion of myxoid cellular components. The myxoid areas showed spindle and pleomorphic cells arranged in a vague storiform pattern, abrupt transition between a solidly cellular area and a myxoid area, and lipoblast-like cells. The cellular areas showed spindle cells arranged in a storiform pattern characteritic of the typical pleomorphic malignant fibrous histiocytorna.
