We developed the BaSDAS (Barcode-Seq Data Analysis System), a GUI-based pooled knockout screening data analysis system, to facilitate the analysis of pooled knockout screen data easily and effectively by researchers with limited bioinformatics skills. The BaSDAS supports the analysis of various pooled screening libraries, including yeast, human, and mouse libraries, and provides many useful statistical and visualization functions with a user-friendly web interface for convenience. We expect that BaSDAS will be a useful tool for the analysis of genome-wide screening data and will support the development of novel drugs based on functional genomics information.

Clear cell ependymomas (CCEs) are rare variants of ependymomas. Tumors show anaplastic histological features and behave as an aggressive manner. CCEs have a predilection for extraneural metastases and early recurrence, and they demonstrate characteristic radiographic features. These tumors should be radiologically and pathologically differentiated from oligodendrogliomas. On microscopic examination, CCEs are composed of sheets of cells and resemble oligodendroglioma. However, upon closer examination, the nature of CCEs can be detected earlier, resulting in prompt treatment of the tumor. Although we report only one case, we emphasize the importance of early diagnosis and treatment. Future description of more cases of these rare cancers is necessary to aid in their diagnosis and treatment.

Current therapies for autoimmune diseases are not cures but merely palliatives, aimed at reducing symptoms. For the most part, these treatments provide nonspecific suppression of the immune system and thus do not distinguish between a pathogenic autoimmune response and a protective immune response. Recently emerging evidence not only has indicated the involvement of members of the TNF receptor/ligand superfamilies but also has revealed exciting innovative strategies for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and other chronic inflammatory diseases without depressing the immune response in general. In this review, we will discuss the regulatory mechanisms of TNF receptor/ligand family members, such as HVEM/ LIGHT, 4-1BB/4-1BBL, and GITR/GITRL that regulate T and B cell functions and participate in the process of inflammatory diseases. We will also discuss how intervening in the costimulatory pathways mediated by these molecules might have some potential as a therapeutic approach to immune disorders.

Korean Journal of Urology 1988;29(4):629-631
Recently, the use of immunoperoxidase technique for the location of prostatic acid phosphatase is well established. We experienced 67 year-old male patient who taken TUR due to mass on bladder neck. Previously he had received Rt. radical nephrectomy due to renal cell carcinoma 6 years ago and TUR due to metastatic urethral adenocarcinoma from renal cell carcinoma origin 3 years ago. The Pathologic report represented that the mass was malignant adenocarcinoma. To confirm the origin of adenocarcinoma, we performed immunoperoxidase technique and the adenocarcinoma was originated from the prostate.

Echinococcal cyst is a rare disease in Korea. A 33 year old man who had lower abdominal discomfort for 4 months, and multiple cysts in intraperitoneal and retroperitoneal cavity on abdominal CT. scan. On abdominal exploration, the multiple were diagnosed for Echinococcal cyst. Thin case is the first documented case of multiple Echinococcal cysts among Koreans reported in the literature.
