The purpose of present study was to observe the radiographic finding and histologic response by Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy(CLSM) on interface of the bone and titanium implant coated by chitosan. The tissue of rabbit tibiae to the surgical placement titanium implant coated by chitosan was examined at 3, 9 and 24 days postoperatively. The radiographic finding showed that surrounding bone density of implants was not significantly different compare with the bone on 3 and 9 days group. A large amount new bone was formed on 24 days group, the reason was osteconduction activity by chitosan. The CLSM analysis show that the surface coating by chitosan filled the gap between bone and implant on 3 days group and filled by mew born on 9 days group. On 24 days group, the bone and titanium surface was filled by lamella bone. This results indicated that this enhanced the initial stability of implant significantly and chitosan induced osseointegration around implant. CLSM allows the non-destrutive histo-tomography of bone biopsy as well as clinical practice. We conclude that CLSM allowed a good comprehension of the nature of bone-implant contact, avoiding artifacts due to the thickness of the specimen.

We report herein a case of smooth muscle hamartoma associated with Beckers nevus in a 5-year-old female. The child presented with a slight.ly brownish. 2 x 3 cm sized, pigmentecl patch with follicular accentuation on the right forearm, witch had been observecl since age of 2. Histopathologic findings showed the epidermal changes most consistent with Becker's nevus and the presence of irregularly arranged hyperplastic smooth muscle hundless in the dermis.

The importance of public healthcare system has been widely recognized since the current Middle East respiratory syndrome epidemic began. However, their capacities are not sufficient in both quantitative and qualitative perspective aspects. When a large-scale outbreak develops, public hospitals and community health centers should be primarily responsible for treatment of patients and isolation of individuals who are likely to infect other people, with the supplemented of private hospitals. Clearly, the central and municipal governments, and public healthcare system has failed to deal with the current Middle East respiratory syndrome epidemic, largely due to lack of expertise and professional staff. The governments at various levels and public hospitals should thoroughly and publicly review the work process and problems revealed in dealing with the current epidemic. Based on such evaluation, they should establish action plans for infectious disease control, and regular training and exercise should be done according to them. In addition, more public hospitals should be established under the regional health planning. It is important for public heathcare facilities to hire physicians on a stable and long-term employment contract, and to train them so that they could play a role in case of epidemic.

We performed an epidemiologic survey to investigate the dermatologic problems from cutting oils in metal workers. The personal questionnaires and dermatologic examinations were performed on 360 metal workers who were working at 50 metal industries. The pH meter (HANNA 8520) and the atomic absorption spectrometer(G.B.C. 902) were employed to measure the pH values of cutting oil and the concentration of heavy metals contained in cutting oil respeetively. The results were as follows : 1. The prevalence rates of the dermatologic disorders from cutting oil were 46.0% of eontact dermatitis, 10.9% of black comedone, and 7.1% of paronychia in orders. The dermatologic disorders that seemed to be not directly associsted with cutting oil were callosity(19.1%), burn by metal chips(9.8%), and mechanical injury(5.7%). 2. The localizations of the contact dermatitis and the black cemedone from cutting oil were 84% of hands, 6.6% of face, and 5% af forearms. More detailed localizations of the contact dermatitis and black comedone that developed in hand were 29.6% if finger tip, 27.6% of palm and palm finger, and 19.1% of palm finger only in orders. 3. The prevalence rates of the dermatologic disorders by the of cutting oil were 51.5% of soluble oil, 68.8% of insoluble oil, and 80.8% of mixed cutting oil which containing both soluble and insoluble oil. 4. The mean pH value of aoluble cutting oil was 8.0 and that of insoluble cutting oil was 7.0. 5. The concentrations of heavy metals contained in soluble oil were 32.2 mg/m3 of chrome, 6.42 mg/m3 of nickel, and 4.85 mg/m3 of cobalt. The concentrations of heavy metals contained in inspluble oil were 24.11 mg/m of chrome, 4.63 mg/m3 of nickel, and 2.30 mg/m3 of cobalt.

A 10-year-old boy had a recurrence of cutaneous lesions 1 week after only one exposure to jellyfish on the lower extremity. The recurring lesion was charaeterized by pruritic several linear or whiplash-like erythematous and some edematous papuloplaques. The histopathologic findings showed focal hyperkeratosis, acanthosis in epidermis and mild perivascular infiltration of inflammatory cells, capillary proliferations in dermis.

We report a case of malignant histiocytosis which began with intermittent fever and scaly skin lesions. A 3-year-old girl presented with erythematous scaly papules on the face and the trunk, and high fever for 3 months. The cutaneous lesions consisted of widespread coin-sized erythematous scaly papules with marginal brownish pigmentation. She was anemic and thrombocytopenic and had impairment of the liver function. Histopathologic study of the skin lesions showed non-specfic findings except for hyperkeratosis. However, bone marrow examination revealed an increased number of histiocytes, mostly immature with active phagocytosis of erythroid cells, myeloid cells, and platelets. She was diagnosed as having malignant histiocytosis and treated with cyclophosphamide and vincristine. She died the next day after the treatment had begun.

As the result of the study concerning "bone inducibility of chitosan", 1. "BMP-2"was observed mainly through the test when the "osteoblast"is exposed to the "chitosan". The expression of BMP-2 was 542.63 times compared to control after 2 hours exposure and it was maintained 16.60 times till 24 hours. 2. The expression of BMP-4 was decreased compared to control during exposure. 3. The expression of BMP-7 revealed two peaks during exposure. 4. The expression of osteocalcin was increased in early phase, and then decreased. Although it is not clear whether the "chitosan"is clinically effective material as a "bone induction material", we could say that it has a function for bone induction. Further detailed study will be required.
