The study included 64 patients with chronic cardiopulmonary disease caused by chronic bronchitis and bronchial asthma at early stage in Viet Tiep Hai Phong Hospital between 2002 and 2003. Results: Patients who are over 50 years of age accounted for 89.1%; male 87.5%; female 12.5%. Patients had disease duration more than 10 years were 84.2%. Commonest clinical symptoms were breath shortness in excise (100%), tachycardia (87.5%). Major laboratory findings: hyperleukocytosis (34.4%), increased sedimentation rate (37.5%), ECG right axis (40.6%), pulmonary P wave (100%), absence of right ventricular hypertrophy (100%). On Doppler ultrasonography: flat a wave (65.6%), pulmonary hypertension (65.6%)

Clinical examination on 87 patients with chronic bronchitis at Vinh Tien - Vinh Bao - Hai Phong in 2003. Results showed that common clinical symptoms are cough and expectorate (100%), breath shortness (88.51%), normal thoracic cavity (63.21%), rales (100%). VC and FVC reduced dramatically (65.52%), FEV1 reduced significantly (71.27%), PEF reduced remarkly (74.72%)

Study on 148 patients (92 males, 56 females) with chronic brochitis. Two showing PEF and V75 are ones that be seem changing soonest in chronic bronchitis because event at group that be seem a normal ventilating function, but PEF and V75 have reduced lower than 80%, especially in female, if reduced lower than 70% compared with theory number. Males in chronic bronchitis have complex ventilating disorder, all showings of ventilating function are under severe category (reduced to < 40% of theory number). Similar with female, some showings are only about 20% from the theory number

OBJECTIVES: Air pollution contributes to mortality and morbidity. We estimated the impact of outdoor air pollution on public health in Seoul metropolitan area, Korea. Attributable cases of morbidity and mortality were estimated. METHODS: Epidemiology-based exposure-response functions for a 10 microg/m3 increase in particulate matter (PM(2.5) and PM(10)) were used to quantify the effects of air pollution. Cases attributable to air pollution were estimated for mortality (adults > or = 30 years), respiratory and cardiovascular hospital admissions (all ages), chronic bronchitis (all ages), and acute bronchitis episodes (< or =18 years). Environmental exposure (PM(2.5) and PM(10)) was modeled for each 3 km x 3 km. RESULTS: In 2010, air pollution caused 15.9% of total mortality or approximately 15,346 attributable cases per year. Particulate air pollution also accounted for: 12,511 hospitalized cases of respiratory disease; 20,490 new cases of chronic bronchitis (adults); 278,346 episodes of acute bronchitis (children). After performing the 2nd Seoul metropolitan air pollution management plan, the reducible death number associated with air pollution is 14,915 cases per year in 2024. We can reduce 57.9% of death associated with air pollution. CONCLUSION: This assessment estimates the public-health impacts of current patterns of air pollution. Although individual health risks of air pollution are relatively small, the public-health consequences are remarkable. Particulate air pollution remains a key target for public-health action in the Seoul metropolitan area. Our results, which have also been used for economic valuation, should guide decisions on the assessment of environmental health-policy options.

BACKGROUND: Tracheal hamartoma is a very rare cause of upper airway obstruction. Its clinical features can mimic medical conditions, such as bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, and so on. CASE: This report presents the case of a 65 year old man whose major symptom was dyspnea. We found a tumor in his distal tracheal lumen, and the tumor was removed with success using rigid bronchoscope. The tumor was histologically proven to be a hamartoma, and his symptoms were much improved. CONCLUSION: It is important to distinguish it from other conditions because medical management is often not helpful. surgical correction-with or without thoracotomy-is inevitable.
