OBJECTIVETo study the effect of polysaccharides in processed Sibiraea on the immunologic function of immunosuppression mice.
METHODThe immunosuppressed mice were induced by cyclophosphamide. After the treatment, the organ weight index and the delayed type hypersensitivity of the mice were investigated. The humoral immune function was determined by serum hemolysin assay. Non-specific immune function was determined by carbon clearance method. Cellular immune function was determined by spleen lymphocyte proliferation test. Two hundred kunming mice were randomly divided into five groups: normal controls, model group, low-dose group (110 mg x kg(-1)), middle-dose group (220 mg x kg(-1)), high-dose group (440 mg x kg(-1)). Drugs were given to the mice by oral gavage every day.
RESULTThe immunosuppressed mice treated with Sibiraea polysibcharide at intragastrica dose of 110-440 mg x kg(-1) have increased weight of the immune organs, increased content of DTH and content in serum hemolysin lgG and lgM. Mean while the rate of carbon clearance was enhanced and the proliferation of spleen lymphocyte was increased.
CONCLUSIONPolysaccharides in processed Sibiraea can increase the weight of the immune organs. At the same time, non-specific immune, DTH, humoral immune and cellular immune function were enhanced significantly.

Objective:To explore and analyze the online Q&A texts for hyperglycemia in pregnancy (HIP) users in online health communities, and to provide references for health information services for HIP patients. Methods:A total of 108 590 Q&A texts were collected from "Diabetes Forum" and "Mom Forum". Social network analysis was used to construct the co-occurrence network of feature words in text content and carry out visual analysis and display. On the basis of identifying content themes, the relationship between themes and the nodes within themes were further analyzed, and the attributes of content themes were differentiated with Wilson's information behavior model. Results:In this study, a question and answer text feature word network for pregnant hyperglycemia users with 321 nodes was constructed, among which the largest sub-net included 177 nodes. A total of 12 content themes were identified to seek motivation around two major categories of information, including blood sugar control and coping with disease stress. Among them, the themes with physiological, cognitive, and emotional attributes were 4, 7 and 6, respectively. The number of feature words contained in drug treatment, diet and nutrition was the most prominent, and there were feature words with high degree of centrality in each theme. Conclusions:The content that hyperglycemia in pregnancy (HIP) users pay attention to has multiple attributes and dimensions. Clinical and community healthcare workers and other health information providers can continuously improve the information service content for HIP patients to meet their health information needs.

Objective This study aims to evaluate the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) changes in patients with class Ⅱ division 1 subdivision malocclusions before and after Twin-block treatment using a cone-beam CT (CBCT). Methods Twenty subjects with class Ⅱ division 1 subdivision malocclusions were included in this study. Hand-wrist radiographs were conducted in the FG-G stage. CBCT was performed to determine the changes in the TMJ before and after the Twin-block treatment. The InVivoDental software was used to calculate the relevant parameters from the three-dimensional CBCT images. The acquired data were then analyzed. Results After treatment, the sagittal condylar anterior spaces were reduced, whereas the sagittal condylar superior and posterior spaces as well as the coronal condylar superior space increased (P<0.01). The condylar height, sagittal condylar angles, and condylar anteroposterior diameters also increased (P<0.01). Conclusion After the Twin-block treatment, new bone deposition was observed on the condyle. The condyle height also increased and resulted in adjustments in the condyle position within the glenoid fossa to more downward and forward positions. CBCT can quantify TMJ changes and provide an objective assessment to orthodontic treatment.

Objective:To report the results of a study of 7 patients with osteoarthritis who underwent arthroscopic sternoclavicular arthroplasty in response to conservative treatment. Methods:Arthroscopic sternoclavicular arthroplasty was performed in 7 patients with sternoclavicular osteoarthritis. There were 3 males and 4 females. The age ranges from 34 to 62, with an average age of 43. Patients were evaluated before surgery and at follow-up using the Constant score and Rockwood sternoclavicular joint score system. The postoperative follow-up lasted from 1 to 10 months, with an average of 3.7 months. The surgery was performed under general anesthesia without shoulder joint fixation. Results:All patients recovered preoperative function or full activity within 2 weeks after operation. At the last follow-up, 6 patients had no pain and 1 had mild tension after activity. The median Constant score increased from 69.6 (62-80) to 94.3 (88-96); The median Rockwood score increased from 5.7 (on a scale of 3 to 8) to 14.3 (on a scale of 12 to 15)(maximum 15). Clinical efficacy: All 7 cases were excellent (13-15 points). There were no complications, especially no problems with joint stability. Conclusion:Arthroscopic sternoclavicular arthroplasty is a new method for the treatment of sternoclavicular osteoarthritis which failed to respond to conservative treatment.

Objective:To understand the epidemiological characteristics and spatiotemporal distribution of viral encephalitis in children and adolescents in Henan Province from 2012 to 2023.Methods:The information about viral encephalitis cases from October 1, 2012 to July 26, 2023 were collected from Zhengzhou Children's Hospital (National Children's Regional Medical Center),Henan Provincial Children's Hospital for the analyses on temporal distribution the cases, the severe illness rate, age distribution, pathogen type and imaging findings of the cases. Results:A total of 6 276 cases of viral encephalitis were included in this study after excluding cases with incomplete information. The cases mainly originated from Zhengzhou (38.96%), followed by Zhoukou (9.93%), Xuchang (8.68%), Zhumadian (7.90%) and Pingdingshan (7.39%). The cases in boys accounted for 62.13% and the cases in girls accounted for 37.87%. Most cases (72.45%) occurred in age group 7-13 years. The overall rate of severe illness cases was 4.51% from 2012 to 2023. There were significant differences in severe illness cases among different areas and years ( χ2=5.33, P=0.021; χ2=48.14, P<0.001). Enteroviruses were mainly detected (31.57%), in which Coxsackie virus was predominant (58.37%). Imaging findings showed that cerebral hemisphere damage was most common in children and adolescents with viral encephalitis (54.93%). Conclusions:From 2012 to 2023, more cases of viral encephalitis occurred in boys in Henan. Children and adolescents aged 7-13 years were the main affected group. The prevention of enteroviruses infection, especially Coxsackie virus, needs to be strengthened. Special attention should be paid to the prevention of cerebral hemisphere damage after viral encephalitis diagnosis.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common birth defect worldwide. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been implicated in many diseases. However, their involvement in CHD is not well understood. This study aimed to investigate the role of dysregulated lncRNAs in CHD. We used Gene Expression Omnibus data mining, bioinformatics analysis, and analysis of clinical tissue samples and observed that the novel lncRNA SAP30-2:1 with unknown function was significantly downregulated in damaged cardiac tissues from patients with CHD. Knockdown of lncRNA SAP30-2:1 inhibited the proliferation of human embryonic kidney and AC16 cells and decreased the expression of heart and neural crest derivatives expressed 2 (HAND2). Moreover, lncRNA SAP30-2:1 was associated with HAND2 by RNA immunoprecipitation. Overall, these results suggest that lncRNA SAP30-2:1 may be involved in heart development through affecting cell proliferation via targeting HAND2 and may thus represent a novel therapeutic target for CHD.
