BACKGROUND: The aim of this study is to define the cardioprotective effects (functional and metabolic) of newly developed DelNido cardioplegic solution (containing plasma solution, mannitol, magnesium and lidocaine). MATERIAL AND METHOD: This study assessed the function of rat hearts after itermittent infusion of DelNido cardioplegia with different preserving methods(Air or Icebox) for 2hours and perfusing the hearts on a Langendorff apparatus. Heart rate, left ventricular developed pressure (LVDP) and coronary flow, were measured at pre-ischemic, post-reperfusion 15min, 30min and 45min. Coronary flow was standardized to dry heart weight. Each weight was weighted to calculate water content. Creatine kinase-MB isoenzyme release was measured and ultrastructural assessment was done with electron microscopes. DelNido group was better than St, Thomas group and Icebox group was better than Room-air group. CONCLUSION: DelNido cardioplegia have better myocardial protective effects than St. Thomas cardioplegia when they were preserved in the Room-air. But we can not tell the difference between Delnido cardiplegia with Air preserving method and St. Thomas cardioplegia with Icebox.

Korean Circulation Journal 1989;19(4):726-733
The effect of amiodarone on reperfusion arrhthmias after release of left anterior descending coronary artery(LAD) occlusion was studied in 22 anesthetized cats. All cats underwent 20 minutes LAD occlusion followed by reperfusion and amiodarone(20mg/Kg) or normal saline was given on cats which had reperfusion arrhythmias through the left ventricular catheter to observe the antiarrhythmic effect of amiodarone. And also the incidence and type of arrhymias during occlusion and reperfusion were analyzed. During the 20 minute LAD occlusion, 10 of 22 cats(45%) had no arrhythmias, and 12 cats(55%) had nonsustatined ventricular tachycardia. After release of occlusion, 5 of 22 cats(23%) had no arrthmias, and 17 cats(77%) developed sustained ventricular arrhythmias(ventricular tachycardia (n=5), ventricular fibrillation(n=12)). The 17 cats which had reperfusion arrhythmias were randomly divided and given normal saline(control(n=8)) or amiodarone(amiodarone group(n=9)). There was no difference on 2 groups. The reperfusion arrhythmias disappeared in 6 out of 9 cats(66.7%) vs none of 8 controls(P<0.01). We conclude that amiodarone seems to be the effective antiarrhythmic drug on reperfusion arrhythmias after release of LAD occlusion in anesthetized cats, and might be useful for the treatment of reperfusion arrhythmias in human.

Korean Journal of Physical Anthropology 1989;2(1):11-17
We examined the anatomical position of the mental foramina in mandibles foramen normal adult Koreans. 1. The percentages obtained from the study of the relationships between the mental foramen and the lower teeth showed that the most common location was type lv in which the mental foramen lay at the apex of the second promolar. The foramen between thr apices of ice two premolars (type lll) and the foramen between the second premolar and the first molar (type v) occured often and less often rspectively and find no foramen mesial to the first premolar or at the apex of the first premolar and posterior of the first molar (type l, ll, vl). 2. The study of relationship of the mental foramen to the bo of the mandible revealed that mental foramen was situated closer to the lowed border of the mandibular body. The distance ratio between the mental foramen and the alveolar crest to that between the mental foramen and the lower border was approximately 1.2 : 1. The height of the mandibular body was 31.09±2.80mm on the left side and 30.97±2.48mm on the right. 3. The distance from the mandibular symphysis to the anterior border of the mental foramen measured 29.52±2.01mm on the left, 30.82±2.04mm on the right side, and from the mandibular symphysis to the posterior border of the mandibular ramus was 104.20±4.74mm on the left, 105.44±4.49mm on the right side. It indicates that the mental foramen lies approximately at one-fourth of the distance from the mandibular symphysis to 2017-04-19 the posterior border of the ramus. 4. The distance from the superior border of the mental foramen to the bottom of the lower second premolar socket was found to be positive. It was 5.46±3.09mm on the left, 5.73±3.03mm on the right side. This indicates that the bottom of the lower second premolar socket is slightly higher than the superior border of the mental foramen.

Korean Journal of Urology 2003;44(1):77-81
PURPOSE: We investigated the effects of transurethral needle ablation (TUNA) in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) using a pressure-flow study. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 25 patients with symptomatic BPH, and an obstructive pattern on urodynamics, were treated with TUNA. We evaluated the patients before TUNA treatment using the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), quality of life scores (QOL), uroflowmetry, postvoid residual volume (PVR) and pressure-flow studies, for a mean of 6 months following treatment. RESULTS: At 6 months after TUNA, the IPSS decreased from a mean of 22.69 to 7.65 (p<0.01). The QOL scores improved from a mean of 4.65 to 2.13 (p<0.01). The peak flow rate and PVR improved from a mean of 8.13ml/sec to 13.79ml/sec and 98.52ml to 39.52ml (p<0.01), respectively. A reduction in the mean detrusor pressure at maximum flow rate (67.21cmH2O to 47.43cmH2O, p<0.01) and the Abrams-Griffiths number (51.39 to 20.65, p<0.01) indicated that TUNA can significantly lower bladder pressure. With the exception of one patient, no patient complained of any severe side effects. CONCLUSIONS: In patients with BPH, TUNA resulted significant clinical improvements, with no major complications, and slightly decreased the bladder outlet obstruction. We suggest that TUNA is a safe and effective method for treating bladder outlet obstructions due to BPH, especially, in patients at high risk of operative morbidity and mortality, and for aged patients afraid of sexual dysfunction and retrograde ejaculation.
