Korean Journal of Dermatology 1982;20(1):15-21
From January 1971 to December 1980 the authors observed 165 cases of chronic ulcers of the extrernities in the Department of Dermatology, Chonnam University Hospital. The results obtained can be summarized as follows. 1) During this period, the mean average percent of ulcer patients seen was 0.41 of the yearly total patients. 2) The ages of onset was quite varied with the highest group in the 5th decade. The ratio of men to women was 2.93: 1. 3) The most common predilection site was right lower extremity. 4) Leprosy, especially T-type, was the most comrnon underlying disease.

In general, satisfactory results can be obtained by nonoperative means in the management of proximal femoral shaft fracture in children. Howerver, it is sometimes difficult to maintain the fracture alignment by the nonoperative means because of different muscle pulls in the thigh. The proximal fragment tend to be displaced and roentgenograms are difficult to be taken during traction. These problems have led some authors to advocate open reduction and internal fixation which facilitate overall care. We report our experiences on nonoperative and.operative treatment for proximal femoral fracture at the Chon-ju Presbyterian Medical Center from February 1987 to January 1991. The results are as follows ; 1. There were 20 cases in male, 7 cases in female. Average age at injury was 6.9 years (range, 6 months to 12 years and 8 months). Traffic accident was the most common cause (70.3%). 2. Average immobillization time was 9.2 weeks (range, 6.0 weeks to 12.1 weeks) in the nonoperative treatment group(17 cases), while 8.1 weeks(range, 6.1 weeks to 11.4 weeks) in the operative treatment group (10 cases). 3. Average bony union time was 9.6 weeks (range, 6.3 weeks to 12.5 weeks) in the nonoperative treatment group(17. cases) and 11.2 weeks (range, 9.0 weeks to 13.4 weeks) in the operative treatment group (P < 0.05). 4. Average overgrowth of femur was 3.3mm(range,

The Korean Journal of Sports Medicine 2012;30(2):130-136
Recently, rising curiosity on remnant preservation technique of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, there is much interested in being and distribution of the mechanoreceptor of ACL. So, we performed histologic analyzing and mapping of sensory nerve fiber of the human ACL in this study. Total of 20 anterior cruciate ligaments were obtained from total knee replacement. Each ACL samples was divided into seven specimens; tibial insertion site, mid transitional site, femoral insertion site, and in between the sites, and total of 140 tissue samples were stained with hematoxylin-eosin and immunohistochemical, and observed with light microscope. Five hundred thirty-four fine neuroparticle structures, Ruffini corpuscles, and free nerve endings were observed in 20 ACL samples. The mean of fibers observed were 1.88, 1.71, 1.15, 1.08, 1.15, 1.55, and 1.82, respectively from tibial insertional site to femoral insertional site. With immunohistochemical stain, S-100 protein was strong positive at nerve cells, but was weak positive or negative at neurofilament. Mapping of sensory nerve distribution were done based on the results. We identified the mechanoreceptor of the human ACL using optical and immunohistochemical methods and mapped the histologic distribution of that.

Mycobiology 2000;28(4):165-170
This study was carried out to obtain the basic data for artificial culture of veiled lady mushroom (Dictyophora spp). The optimal conditions for the mycelial growth were 25degrees C and pH 5.0 for all isolates except the optimal temperature of 30degrees C for D. echinovolvata ASI 32002 and Phallus rugulosus . The optimal medium for Dictyophora spp. was PBA (potato bamboo sawdust extract agar) medium. The strain ASI 32002, D. echinovolvata , grew faster than. D. indusiata ASI 32003 and Phallus rugulosus ASI 25007 on the medium. Carbon sources such as glucose, maltose and inuline were favorable for stimulating a mycelial growth of the two strains of ASI 32002 and ASI 32003. Asparagine and glutamine appeared to be favorable to the strain ASI 32002 and ASI 32003, where as alanine, one of nitrogen source also favorable to the strain ASI 32002. The optimum C/N ratio of the two isolates of ASI 32002 and ASI 32003 was about 25 : 1 when 2% glucose as carbon source was mixed with the basal medium. While, in the case of 4% as carbon source, the optimum C/N ratio was about 30 : 1.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1972;7(2):228-234
Myositis Ossificans progressiva is a very rare disease and not more than five cases have been reported in this country. The symptoms usually appear before the age of six and no case has ever been reported in medical literature in which patient is older than the age of twenty. This author reports here that a 52 years old male was diagnoed as a myositis ossificans progressiva. The patient developed his symptoms when he was lynched by a club during the Korean conflict at the Korean conflict at the age of thirty. Another interesting fact is that is that his daughter has also developed similar symptoms which appeared following an accident when she was run over by an angry cow at the age of six.

We describe herein a 3 family members with phytophotodermatitis. After fig (juice) was applied to skin for the purpose of treating psoriasis in a 30 year-old woman and applied incidentally in her mother and 3 year-old daughter, vesicobullous eruptions developed immediately after sun-exposure, predominantly in the sun-exposed area. ln histopathology, the epidermis shows intraepidermal separation with necrosis and reepithelization on basal layer and marked spongiosis. We treated with systemic steroid, wet dressing with burow solution etc, so she healed without sequela after 2 weeks.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1982;20(1):59-67
The statistics of 40,611 new cases of skin diseases seen in Dermatologic department of Chonnam University Hospital from 1971 to 1980 are analysed and significant changes in incidence of the 25 most common dermatoses are discussed in detail and the results are comared with other surveys. The results of this study are summed up in 4 tables. Table 1. Shows the annual frequency of the 25 most common dermatoses. Table 2. Shows the frequency of the 25 most common dermatoses by age group. Table 3. Shows the frequency of the 25 most common derrnatoses by season, sex and region. Table 4. Shows the comparison of frequency of the 20 most common dermatoses with other reports.
