1.Clinical and Mycological Studies on microsporum Gypseum Infection.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1980;18(5):369-381
Ringworm infections have been extensiveIy studied in Korea since 1943. However, only two cases of ringworrn caused by Microsporum gypseum were reported until 1975. The authors experienced an increase of M. gypseum infection in recent years, suggesting a further increase in incidence in the future. Therefore, the authors studied the cIinical and mycological findings of 14 cases of M. gypseum infection encountered from 1976 to l978, along with the distribution of various dermatophytoses observed in recert years. To investigate possible sources of infection, mycological characteristics of M. gypseum strains isolated from human and soil were compared. (countinued...)

2.Developmen of Educational Program for Early Detection of Breast Cancer.
Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1997;9(1):136-147
The purpose of this study was to develop an educational program for early detection of breast cancer. The educational program for early detection of breast cancer was developed by literature reviews and survey. Literatures about the early detection of breast cancer, the factors which are influenced on the effects of educational program, and the various techniques of educational program for the early detection of breast cancer were reviewed. The survey was tried to search for the current knowledge about breast cancer and early detection of breast cancer of Korean women using questionnaire developed by investigator. The educational program were as follows ; 1. Objectives of the educational program Upon completion of this educational program, participants will able to ; (1) identify, explain and practices the methods of the early detection breast cancer (2) practices breast self-examination by themselves (3) try to continued the practices for the early detection of breast cancer. 2. Assessment of subjects Assess the participant about the factors which are influenced on the effects of educational program. The factors are age, educational level, marital status, social status, level of knowledge of breast examination, perceived susceptibility, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived seriousness, motivation, discomfort, and desire for control of health status. 3. Education The exact knowledge about the early detection methods of breast cancer provided such as breast self examination, mammogram, and physical examination by health personnel should be included. For the highest effects of educational program whether group teaching or individual teaching, free discussion and practice are very useful. 4. Evaluation of the effects of education Participant should be evaluated by the objectives after finishing education program. 5. Follow-up care Reinforcement using small booklet which is consisted of checklist and basic information and early detection methods of breast cancer by health personnel should be included.

3.Clinical Observation on Pyodermas.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1974;12(1):1-8
Clinical observations were made on 251 cases of pyodermas at the Department of Dermatology, Kyungpook University Hospital from 1968 to 1972. Especially noteworthy is the application of josamycin to 41 cases of pyodermas to observe its therapeutic effects. Since 1968, the frequency of pyodermas has shown an annual increase. The ratio between male and female was 1. 4: 1, gradually changing from 2. 3: 1 in 1968 to an almost balanced incidence in 1972. The age of onset. differed with types of disease, but 76. 2% of all cases occurred before the age of 15. The outbreaks of impetigo bullosa and impetigo vulgaris were found to be affected by season, the highest prevalence being in summer. Seasonal occurrence of all cases was found to be 45.5% in summer and 24. 3% in fall with no noticeable change ohserved in spring and winter. Predilection sites of the disease differed according to the type of the disease but all types showed a marked predilection for the exposed areas as against the covered areas (4 times). Sensitivity of causative organisms to antibiotics was found to be fairly high to cloxacillin, novobiocin and ampicillin, and relative to kanamycin, streptomycin and doxycycline but all tested cases showed resistance to tetracycline, chlortetracycline and oxytetracycline. Josamycin was effective in all types of pyodermas, and was dramtical]y so in impetigo bullosa of which pustules disappeared within 3 or 5 days of treatment. Two out of 41 cases complained of abdominal pain and weakness. The sensitivity of the causative organisms of all types of pyodermas to josamycin was 83. 3%.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1983;21(5):557-561
A total of 135 strains of M canis, composed of 1R4 from the patients and 1 from an infected pet cat, were crossed with the 2 tester strains of eVannizzia otae VUT 77054 "/" and VUT 77055 "-" supplied by Dr. A. Hasegawa. These 134 human strains were originated from 77 casea of tinea capitis, 20 of tinea faciei and 37 of tinea corporis from Taegu city, Kyungpook and neighboring provinces during the period from December 1975 to August 1982. Out of 134 hurnan isolates, 112 (83. 6%) were of "-" mating type of N. otae and 22 (16.4%) were nonreactive. None were compatible with the + mating type. One strain from a pet cat proved also to be of type. The majority of the tested strains were revealed to be sexually degenerated.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1982;20(5):703-712
The number of patients with tinea corporis diagnosed on the clinical findings and KOH examination was 1,709 during the five yea.rs between January 1976 and December 1980, representing l.5% of the total dermatologic out-patients of 105,267 examined at Chilgok Catholic Dermatological Clinic, Daegu, Korea. The annual number of patients with tinea corporis was 84 (0.47% of the total outpatients) in 1976,115 (0.6%) in 1977, and 263 (1.30%) in 1980, but the figure increased markedly in 1976 reaching 616 (2.51%) and 631 (2.89%) in 1980. Of the 1,709 patients, males numbered 793 and females 916. Although the age of peak incidence was in the third decade in both sexes, males outnumbered females slightly before age 19 and, as age advanced, female predominance became marked. The seasonal distribution of patients was interesting: in summer between June and September when the climate is very humid and hot, the incidence was markedly high. From the 1, 709 patients, 1,293 organisms composms of 6 species were isolated and identified. The species isolated were, in order of decreasing frequency, Trichophyton rubrum (622 organisms, 48. 1% of total organisms isolated), T. mentagrophytes (486 organisms, 36. 2%), Microsporum canis (147 organisms, 11. 4%), Epidermophyton floccosurn (29 organisms, 2.2%), M. gypseum (23 organisrns, l.8%) and T. ferrugineum (4 organisms, 0. 3%).

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1987;25(1):98-102
Generalized granuloma annulare is manifested by numerous, symrnetrical, shiny, normal-skin colored, discrete or confluent, papular eruption on the sunexposed areas, mostly in females of past middle age. Up to date, a variety of therapeutic approaches have been tried with inconsistent results. Recently several agents have been reported to be inconsistent results. Recently several agents have reported to be effective in the treatment of genealizecl granuloma annulare. Of these, dapsone has been used with favorable respones. The fact dapsone can inhibit the lysosomal enzyme release and the mononuclear cell-rnediated rnyeloperoxidase cytotaxicity would account for its effect in granuloma annulare even in part. We observed a case of generalized granulare in a 49-year old man, who had had numerous normal-skin colored or faintly violaceous, flattopped papular eruption on the sun-exposed areas for 3 years. He was treated successfully with dapsone 100mg a day for about 22 months.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1988;26(1):106-109
Primary cutaneous leiomyosarcoma is a rare neoplasm. The tumor presents as a nondescript subcutaneous mass, and may be painful or tender. The diagnosis depends on the histopathologic findings. We report a case of primary cutaneous leiomyosarcoma developed in a 57-year-old male. Five and half years ago, the patient noticed a rice grain sized nodule on the right deltoid area. Five years ago, the lesion was excised at a local medical office. From 2 years ago, the tumor recurred on the excision site as a well defined painful erythematous hard tumor, measuring 3.5*3cm. Biopsy specimen showed densely packed, interlacing bundles of smooth muscle cells which have numerous anaplastic nuclei, atypical giant cells with bizarre nuclei and 10 mitotic figures per 10 high power fields.

Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1998;10(2):268-280
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to a quire the supplemental information needed by the general public. MATERIALS AND METHOD: Subjects of the study, totalling 1576, were from the three major cities of Taegu, Kwang-joo, Pusan and their surrounding districts. The subjects recruited were between the ages of study were developed by these researchers based on literature review and professional experience. The data were analysed by computing frequencies, percentages and testing ANCOVA in SAS program. RESULTS: It was noted that the knowledge level of cancer prevention and early detection for the most common cancers in Korea(stomach, lung, liver, cervical, and breast cancer) was low. Knowledge that the subjects had was correct or extremely limited. Subjects had a positive attitude about engaging in cancer prevention and early detection. They were motivated to earn more about it once they recognized cancer as being a fatal disease. Another finding is that is would be necessary to encourage an improvement in subject health habits. the percentage of subjects who had screening tests for cancer was very low. Regular screening test's rate for the five major cancers were very rare. The majority of subjects had not undergone any diagnostic tests. CONCLUSION: the results of this survey could be used as a framework for the developmental strategies of an educational program for the general population. The response of subjects was favorable, as they were willing to take preventative action independently.
