The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics 2010;2(1):1-3
BACKGROUND: Even though excellent impression materials are now available for making accurate replication for hard and soft tissue, the numerous dentists have faced lots of obstacles in making simultaneous impressions of multiple abutments. CASE DESCRIPTION: This article describes a modified method of tray fabrication using auto-polymerizing acrylic resin and impression technique for multiple prepared teeth in cases with limitations and difficulties in taking dental impressions. CLINICAL IMPLICATION: This segmental tray technique has several advantages, including higher impression quality, fewer impressions, and being more comfortable for the patient and less stressful for the clinician.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1978;16(5):409-413
The term "fixed drug eruption" was coined by Louis Brocq in 1894 to describe a special type of reaction to antipyrine. It is now known that many drugs can cause a fixed drug eruption. Notorious offenders have included phenolphthalein, quinine and barbiturates. We present a case of multiple fixed drug eruption appearing in a 20 year-old male patient who has generalized slate-blue colored pigmentation on neck, trunk and extremities. The area of total pigmented skin lesions are over 50% of body surface. We could confirm the fixed drug eruption by positive phenobarbital provocation test.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1975;13(1):41-43
Incontinentia pigmenti achromians (Ito) begins during childhood and is characterized by progressive appearance of bizarre patchy or whorl-like hypopigmentation without any preceeding or associated inflammatory changes in a fashion that resembles a negative piture of pigmentation in patients with incontinentia pigmenti. Mental, bony and ocular symptoms are not infrequently found in association with incontinentia pigmenti achromians. The incidence is high in the female sex, and there is no hereditary background. A 24-year-old Korean soldier was first seen in May 1974 in dermatologic clinic of Capital Armed Forces General Hospital. Bizarre, reticulated, linear and whorllike hypopigmented macular lesions were noted. On the skin of the trunk and both extremities. The lesions started at the age of 4 year and developed without any inflarnmatory signs Family history did not disclose any type of pigmentation The disorder, and mental, bony and occular manifestations were not found. Biopsy specimen demonstrated that the amount of melanin in the basal layer was decreased in the hypopigmented area, and reveals neither inflammatory changes nor dropping off of melanin granules into the dermis.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1985;23(6):759-763
A retrospective study was made of the previous medical records of 47 infants with congenital syphilis born from mothers with untreated syphilis at Severance Hospital, Yonsei University College of Medicine during the years 1972 through 1983 The VDRL titer of these infants was higher than 1: 8 with reactive FT.A-ABS test. They were subjectd to hematologic examinations and the results were as follow s, 1. Of 46 infants with congenital syphilis, anemia was observed in thirty-one (68%) Reticulocytosis occurred in seventeen(89%) of nineteen infants with congenital syphilis having the mean value of 6. 0%. 3, Of 4.7 infants with congenital syphilis, leucocytosis was noted in seveenteen 4, Thrombocytopenia was observed in twenty (64%) of thirty-one infants with congenital syphilis.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1980;18(4):361-365
Eosinophilic fasciitis is a syndrome which is characterized by scleroderma-like skin involvement, eosinophilia and hypergammaglobulinemia without significant systemic changes. The primary pathological alterations are thickening and inflammation of the deep fascia. The majority of the cases that have been reportecd respond to systemic corticosteroids. We describe a 19-year-old male patient with eosinophilic fasciitis. On physical examination, he showed tender, edematous, indurated and tight skin in the back and both lower legs, and the laboratory findings showed eosinophilia and mild hypergammaglobulinemia. He also had Raynaud phenomenon, mild dyspnea, abdominal pain, pulmonary function abnormalities and roentgenographic evidence of pulmonary fibrosis. Result of a biopsy showed sclerosis of dermia and intense infiltrations of eosinophils, lymphocytes and histiocytes and fibroais of panniculus and fascia. Treatment with systemic corticosteroids showed complete resolution of the skin lesions, but after withdrawal new scleroderma-like skin lesions developed in the dorsum of feet.

8.OCCLUSAL FORCE AND ORAL TACTILE SENSIBILITY MEASURED IN PARTIALLY EDENTULOUS PATIENTS WITH BR NEMARK IMPLANTS AND NATURAL TEETH: A CLINICAL STUDY.
Bock Young JUNG ; Young Sik JEON ; Dong Hoo HAN
The Journal of Korean Academy of Prosthodontics 1999;37(1):23-41
During the previous several decades the osseointegrated implants have been considered as the most ideal therapy for the fully edentulous or partially edentulous patients. Although the research on the biocompatibility of osseointegration, the oral tactile function, and the histo-neurologic study had been performed, the change of the oral tactile sensibility and maximal occlusal force according to the postinsertion time of implant prostheses has not been studied. The purpose of this study was to compare the oral tactile sensibility and maximal occlusal force of implant prostheses to natural teeth according to the specific postinsertion time intervals. The fifty seven patients treated with Br adegreenemark implants during the recent seven years were involved in this study. The oral tactile sensibility and maximal occlusal force were measured according to the postinsertion time (o6 months, o12 months, o18 months o24 months, and o25 months) 1.The passive tactile threshold of implants was higher than 6-7 times when comparing to natural teeth(P<0.05). 2.The absolute pressure threshold in horizontal and vertical direction for the passive tactile sensibility had decreased significantly in the post insertion time 13-18 months group and had increased significantly in the post insetion time over 25 months group (P<0.05). 3.50% limit thickness and 100% absolute thickness for the active tactile sensibility had decreased significantly in the postinsertion time 7-12 months group (AT50 : P<0.005, AT100: P<0.05) 4.The maximal occlusal force of the implants prostheses had decreased when comparing with natural teeth in the postinsertion time 1-6 months group(P<0.05) and after that there was no significant difference between the implant prostheses and natural teeth(P<0.05). 5.Maximal occlusal force according to the postinsertion time had increased significantly in the 13-18 months group (P<0.05),after that there was no significant difference. 6.There was positive correlation between age and oral tactile sensibility tested in horizontal and vertical direction (PH:r=0.39, PV:r=0.41) and there was no correlation between age and maximal occlusal force, age and active tactile sensibility 7.According to the results or the questionnaire, 76.6% of the patients were satisfied with the function and 96.7% of the patients were satisfied with the sensibility. In conclusion oral tactile sensibility and maximal occlusal force of implants have changed with the postinsertion time. Oral tactile function of implants was lower than that of the natural teeth, but for the maximal occlusal force there was no difference between implants and natural teeth.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1980;18(4):307-311
Multicentric pigmented Bowen's diseas. (MPBD) is a bowenoid atypia in the genitalia of young adults which was first described by Lloyd in 1970. Clinically the lesions appear to be benign warts, but histologically they show bowenoid atypia., Although the pathogenesis and cours of MPBD is as yet unknown, many authors have suggested viral etiology. We recentiy encountered two cases of MPBD, one a 25 year-old male and the other a 38 year-old female, confirmed clinicallr and histopathologically. Case 1 showed spontaneous regression without any treatment, but case 2 showed recurrence of the lesions inspite of three times of surgical excision. The recurrent MPBD which has proven to be resistant to surgical therapy is unusual according to the previous reported cases.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1974;12(3):191-193
Xeroderma pigmentosum is characterized by sunlight sensitivity, autosomal recessive inheritance, and multiple cutaneous malignant melanoma, angiosarcoma and fibrosarcoma. Some patient also demonstrate neurological manifestations, ie, mental deficiency, microcephaly, ataxia, choreoathetosis, and deafness. A 22 year old Korean soldier was seen at the Capital Armed Forces General Hospital in May of 1974 because of pigmentation and ulceration on the exposed area. Since the age of 3, the patient has suffered from freckles on exposed area and the lesions were gradually increased in number. About 3 years ago, he observed nodule on the left side of face, which underwent ulceration eventually. There were no history of unconsciousness, convulsion or other neurological symptoms. The histopathological picture in the margin of ulcerated lesion revealed hyperkeratosis and acanthosis in epidermis, and masses of various shaped and sized composed of basalioma cells in dermis. The peripheral cell layer of the tumor masses showed pallisade arrangement of the nuclei.
