Objective To analyze the allergens detection in asthmatic infants and young children. Methods The specific IgE test and allergens screening test were conducted in 243 infants and young children with whooping diseases including asthmatic bronchitis, asthmatic pneumonia and asthma by skin prick test and Pharmacia UniCAP test. Results 1. Food allergen was the allergen detection most frequently in infants(P = 0.03). The proportion of aeroallergens increased significantly with age (positive rate:67. 2%). Milk and egg white was the main food allergen detection in infants and young children, and the main aeroallergen detection was house dust mite. 2. The allergen - specific IgE test using UniCAP test system was more accurate than skin prick test. Conclusions The infants are more susceptible to food hypersensitivity; the increasing opportunity of aeroallergen exposure may lead to a higher prevalence of aeroallergens in young children. UniCAP system is more accurate than other methods.

Objective To evaluate the efectiveness of using mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)derived from HUCB(human umbilical cord blood)to a tissue engineered bioartificial nerve on bridging a 1 0 mm sciatic nerve gap. Methods The cord blood mononuclear cells were isolated by lymphocyte separation medium, purified and expanded with MesencultTM medium and acidic environment to produce adherent layer(MSCs).Thirty SD female rats were randomly divided into three groups.Group A:Human amnion tubes were seeded by HUCBMSCs together with fibrin sealant.Group B:Human amnion tubes were seeded only with fibrin sealant.group C:autografts.9 weeks later,a series of examinations were performed which included morphological, sciatic nerve function index, weight of gastrocnemius, histological staining and immunostaining of S100.Results The HUCB-derived mononuclear cells, when seeded in specific medium, gave rise to adherent cells (MSCs).At 9 weeks after the operations, all the examinations of group A was better than group B(P<0.05).Conclusion HUCBMSCs can be isolated, purified, cultivated and expanded Mesencult~(TM) medium.HUCBMSCs can promote the nerve to regenerate in reparing the sciatic nerve gap.

The present study is to investigate the quality changes of ginseng stems and leaves before and after frost. The contents changes of ginsenoside, free amino acid, and total phenolic compounds, as well as DPPH radical scavenging effect before and after frost were measured. The content of 9 ginsenoside monomer in ginseng stems was decreased except for Rg, and Re after frost, but in ginseng leaves was all decreased. The total content of amino acids was decreased in ginseng stems after frost, while increased in ginseng leaves. The content of phenolic compounds in ginseng stems and leaves were both decreased after frost while the ability of DPPH radical scavenging was improved. The factor of frost has great impact on the quality of ginseng stems and leaves.

Objective To explore the role of NF-kB activation on spontaneous formation of germinal centers in spleen in BXSB mice and it's mechanisms. Methods Eighteen BXSB mice were divided to control group and pyrrolidine dithiocarbonate(PDTC)group randomly.PDTC group was given PDTC 120 mg/kg?BW ip every other day and control group was given the same dose of dissolving solution.NF-kB activity was deter- mined by electrophoretic mobility shift assay. Two color flow cytometry were used to detect CD154 expression on splenic B cells and germinal center B cells apoptosis.Germinal centers were stained for histochemical analysis. Results PDTC could inhibit the NF-kB activity in spleen tissue in BXSB mice.It decreased the NF-kB activity by 62.82%.Spontaneous germinal center formation was detected in spleen in BXSB mice.In- hibiting NF-KB activation could down-regulate CD154 expression on splenic B cell, retard spontaneous germi- nal center formation and increase germinal center B cell apoptosis. Conclusion NF-kB activation may induce spontaneous germinal center formation in spleen in BXSB mice by upregulating CD154 expression on splenic B cell and decreasing germinal center B cell apoptosis. The autoreactive B cells generated during spontaneous germinal center formation may escape apoptosis and then differentiate to autoantibody-producing plasm cells. It suggests that NF-kB can be a therapeutic target.

OBJECTIVETo compare the clinical effects of different fixing methods for intertrochanteric fractures and make theoretical analysis.
METHODSFrom June 2003 to June 2007, 321 patients with intertrochanteric fractures, male 132 and female 189, ranging in age from 20 to 93 years with an average of 56.8 years, were treated with different fixation including Richard nail (142 cases), proximal femora nail (PFN, 94 cases) and external fixator (85 cases). The clinical data of all the patients were retrospectively analyzed, including the incidence of complications, joint function of hip (according Kudema modified Merli D'Aubigne criteria).
RESULTSAll patients were followed up from 10 months to 4 years with an average of 14 months. About the incidence of complications, there was significant difference between the external fixator group and the others two groups (P < 0.05); there was no significant difference between the Richard nail group and the PFN group (P > 0.05). There was significant difference in joint function of hip among three methods. PEN group was best than others two groups.
CONCLUSIONThere is the best clinical effects and lowest incidence of complications with PFN method, which is the better choice in treating intertrochanteric fractures.
