Journal of International Oncology 2011;38(10):777-780
The radiosensitivity of esophageal carcinoma is one of the bases for making dividualized treatment program.Predition of radiosensitivity before radiotherapy has become a hot spot of the current study. It has been demonstrated that radiosensitivity of esophageal carcinoma is correlated to p53 portein,bcl-2portein,human epidermal growth factor receptors (hEGFR),vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF),hypoxia-inducible-factor-1 (HIF-1),cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) and so on.Detection of these markers may be helpful for predicting the radiosensitivity of esophageal carcinonla and making optimal treatment program. In addition, radiosensitivity of tumor can be predicted according to radiation-induced esophagitis grade and endiscopic uhrasonography(EUS).

OBJECTIVETo systematically review the clinical efficacy of acupuncture on the patients with low back pain (LBP).
METHODSRandomized controlled trials (RCTs) about pure acupuncture therapy versus other treatments in treating LBP were electronically searched in PubMed, CBM, EMbase, The Cochrane Library, CNKI, VIP and Wanfang Data from January 2004 to May 2014. The observed index on the results were the changed scores of VAS, ODI, JOA and RMDQ. Two reviewers independently screened the literatures according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, as well as the extracted data, and assessed the methodological quality. The results of Meta-analysis was conducted by RevMan 5.2 software.
RESULTSTen RCTs involved 751 patients were finally included. The results of Meta-analysis indicated that the role of pure acupuncture group in improving the VAS score was better than that of the control group, and the combined effect size was RR = -.32, 95% CI (-1.41, -1.22); Z=27.28, P<0.00001; the role of pure acupuncture group in improving the ODI score was better than that of the control group, and the combined effect size was RR = -5.07, 95% CI (-7.50, -2.65); Z=4.10, P<0.0001; the role of pure acupuncture group on improved JOA score was better than that of the control group and the combined effect size was RR=2.83, 95% CI (2.02, 3.63), Z=6.90, P<0.00001. The role of pure acupuncture group in improving the RMDQ score was better than that of the control group, and the combined effect size was RR = -2.80, 95% CI (-3.49, -2.11), Z=7.95, P<0.00001.
CONCLUSIONThe result of meta-analysis demonstrates that pure acupuncture may have a favorable effect on self-reported pain and functional limitations in LBP patients.

A chiral LC-MS/MS method for the simultaneous analysis of desvenlafaxine (DVS) enantiomers in human plasma was developed and applied to a pharmacokinetic study on 12 Chinese healthy volunteers. d6-Desvenlafaxine was used as internal standard (IS). Chromatographic separation was performed on the Astec Chirobiotic V chiral column (150 mm x 4.6 mm, 5 μm). The assay was linear over the concentration range of 0.500-150 ng x mL(-1) for both enantiomers (r2 > 0.99). The method was successfully applied to a stereoselective pharmacokinetic study of 100 mg desvenlafaxine sustained release tablets on 12 Chinese healthy volunteers under fasting conditions. The results showed that the pharmacokinetic parameters were similar to both enantiomers in Chinese healthy volunteers. The AUC(0-t), and C(max) of the two enantiomers were about 1.5 times higher than those of blacks and whites reported in the literature.

Platinum-based anticancer drugs have been becoming one of the most effective drugs for clinical treatment of malignant tumors for its unique mechanism of action and broad range of anticancer spectrum. But, there are still several problems such as side effects, drug resistance/cross resistance and no-specific targeting, becoming obstacles to restrict its expanding of clinical application. In recent years, supramolecular chemistry drug delivery systems have been gradually concerned for their favorable safety and low toxicity. Supramolecular macrocycles-platinum complexes increased the water solubility, stability and safety of traditional platinum drugs, and have become hot focus of developing novel platinum-based anticancer drugs because of its potential targeting of tumor tissues/organs. This article concentrates in the research progress of the new drug delivery system between platinum-based anticancer drugs with three generations of macrocycles: crown ether, cyclodextrin, cucurbituril and calixarene.

Objective:To explore the correlation between ascending aortic elasticity and coronary blood flow reserve (CFR)in patients with hypertension. Methods:A total of 60 patients with essential hypertension were regarded as hypertension group, another 50 normotensive subjects were enrolled as normal control group during the same period. Ascending aortic dilation (D),stiffness (β)and CFR were measured and calculated by tissue Doppler ultrasound, then compared between two groups.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation amongβ,D and CFR.Results:Compared with normal control group, there were significant reductions in D [(3.59±0.30)10-6 cm2/d vs.(2.88±0.77)10-6 cm2/d]and CFR [(3.23±1.16)vs.(2.02±0.63)],and significant rise inβ[(3.54 ±1.52)vs.(5.46±1.98)]in hypertension group,P<0.05 or<0.01. Pearson correlation analysis indicated thatβwas significant inversely correlated with CFR (r=-0.413,P=0.005),while D was significant positively correla- ted with CFR (r=0.384,P=0.003 ).Conclusion:Reduced ascending aortic elasticity is significantly correlated with coronary blood flow reserve.
