Objective To evaluate the efficacy of MRCP in the determination of common bile duct (CBD) exploration in gallstone pancreatitis(GP). Methods The clinical data of the patients who underwent CBD exploration due to gallstone pancreatitis during two different periods were retrospectively reviewed. Between 1995 and 1999,46 patients with gallstone pancreatitis underwent CBD explorations based on the preoperative ultrasonographic examination of stones and dilatation of CBD . Between 2000 to 2002,the explorations were carried out in 30 patients based on MRCP findings. Results Negative exploration occurred in 28 patients (60.8%) during the first period and 7 patients (23.3%) during the second period. 【Objective】To observe the influence of hot-needle therapy and herbal medicine fuming-washing combined with western medicine for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis(RA).【Methods】One hundred and twenty-eight RA patients were equally randomized into two groups: group A received hot-needle therapy and herbal medicine fuming-washing combined with western medicine of meloxicam,salazosulfamide,and methotrexate,and group B was treated with western medicine only.The treatment lasted one month.Symptoms and signs of early morning stiffness time,grip strength,joints with tenderness count,tenderness index,auricular rest pain,swollen joints count,swelling index as well as the evaluation by the patients themselves and the doctors were observed before and after treatment.Meanwhile,the changes of rheumatoid factor(RF),C-reactive protein(CRP),erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),the white blood cell(WBC) count and platelet(PLT) count were evaluated before and after treatment.【Results】The total effective rate in group A was 78.1%,which was superior to 53.1% in group B(P

Objective The clinical effects of acupuncture and massaging abdomen with salt the treatment of simple obesity was observed. Methods: Eighty cases were randomized into two groups: treatment group in which 40 cases were treated by acupuncture and massaging abdomen with salt and control group in which another 40 cases were treated by conventional acupuncture. Their effects were observed and compared. Results: The clinical cure rate and marked effective rate in treatment group were significantly higher than in control group (P＜0.01). Conclusion: The clinical effects in the treatment group are much better than those in the control group.

Objective To explore the effects of curcumin on the expression of C-erbB-2, Survivin and Bax in prost cancer cell. Methods The effects of curcumin on the expression of C-erbB-2, Suevivin and Bax were observed by SP immnohistocherminstry and cell cultivate methods. Results The expression of Survivin and C-erbB-2 in contrast group were strong, but the expression of Bax was very weak. After the curcumin were incubated with culture medium for 6h, 12h, 24h, 48h, the expression of C-erbB-2 and Survivin were gradually decreased in DU145 cells, while the expression of Bax was increased and reached highest at the time point of 12 ～24h. Conclusion The curcumin can reduce the expression of C-erbB-2 and surviving, and increase expression of Bax. The curcumin may exert antitumor activity by interacting with DU145 cells.

Polycomb group proteins Bmi-1 is the core subunits of the PRC1 complex,and also plays important roles in the regulation of neural development. This review introduces the construction of Bmi-1 and the recent study for Bmi-1 in the nervous system development and tumor generation. The important roles of Bmi-1 for sustain of the neural stem cell proliferation,regulation mechanism of neural development and tumor generation are discussed.

Pulmonary valve stenosis (PS) is a relatively common congenital heart disease,and there are 2 treatment methods of surgical operation and intervention.Percutaneous balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty (PBPV) was applied successfully in children with PS for the first time by Kan.For more than 30 years,with the update of intervention equipment,improvement of operation method and accumulation of clinical experience,the application of PBPV continuously has made new progress.Most of the previous reports of the PBPV were for the immediate and short-term efficacy,while long-term follow-up data and some special types of PS review research were less.Now,combined with PBPV clinical data and long-term follow-up study in recent years,an overview of the application progress of PBPV including indications,methods,curative effect and follow-up,prevention and cure of complications and some special type of PS are provided.

OBJECTIVETo explore the clinical effect of Shugan Jieyu Capsules (SJC) on type III B prostatitis complicated by sexual dysfunction.

METHODSA total of 98 patients with type III B prostatitis complicated by sexual dysfunction were equally randomized to a control and a trial group, the former treated with the combination of biofeedback/electrical stimulation and the α-blocker Tamsulosin Hydrochloride, and the latter with oral SJC in addition, both for 8 weeks. Before and after treatment, the severity of the symptoms was determined with NIH-CPSI, the patients'sexual function evaluated with CIPE-5 and IIEF-5, and their anxiety, depression and other psychological problems assessed with Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale ( HAMD). The results were subjected to statistical analysis and compared between the two groups.

RESULTSStatistically significant differences were found between the control and trial groups in the NIH-CPSI score (26.31 ± 7.91 vs 18.84 ± 6.63, P < 0.01), CIPE-5 premature ejaculation score (10. 41 ± 3.03 vs 14.37 ± 2.35, P < 0.05), IIEF-5 score (10.29 ± 3.97 vs 14.69 ± 4.19, P < 0.05), HAMA score (24.31 ± 1.78 vs 13.41 ± 4.21, P < 0.01), and HAMD score (25.24 ± 2.83 vs 14.49 ± 4.44, P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONSJC can effectively relieve anxiety, depression and other psychological problems in type III B prostatitis patients with sexual dysfunction and improve their clinical symptoms as well.

AlM: To investigate the effect of exogenous peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptor-γcoactivator-1α ( PGC-1α) on vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF) expression in human retinal vascular endothelial cells ( HRVEC) .METHODS:Recombinant PGC-1α protein was added to HRVEC, and no recombinant PGC-1α protein was added to HRVEC as control group. After 24h of incubation, two groups of cells were then placed into a normoxic ( 20%O2 ) or hypoxic ( 1% O2 ) environment for another 16h. The expression of VEGF mRNA and protein were detected by real - time PCR, ELlSA and immunofluorescence cytochemistry.RESULTS: VEGF mRNA and protein levels in the cells were significantly increased by recombinant PGC - 1αprotein both under normoxia and hypoxia conditions as compared with control groups (P<0. 01).CONCLUSlON: PGC-1α can upregulate the expression of VEGF in HRVEC under normoxia and hypoxia conditions.

The immunoregulatory effect of TLSF_(JM) on the levels of IP3,Ca~(2+) in activated T cells andthe expression of Fos protein was investigated by ABC immunohistochemistry technique and Fu-ra-2/AM labelled T cells and anion-exchange chromatography techniques in this paper.The re-sults showed that TLSF_(JM) can the same time,it can strongly inhibit the levels of IP3、Ca~(2+) in ac-tivated T cells.
