Sclerosing stromal tumor of the avary(SST) is a rare benign tumor first described as a distinct neoplasm by Chalvardjian and Scully(1973) and confirmed as such by Scully(1977) and Gee and Russell(1979). This tumor was separated from the thecoma fibroma group on the basis of characteristic histolog ic features. We present two caaes of postmenopausal women in seuentieth decades with SST, other reported cases of SSTs are discused.

Journal of the Korean Society for Vascular Surgery 2004;20(2):186-191
PURPOSE: Thrombus formation enhances both neointima formation and clinical restenosis after vascular injury or angioplasty. Thrombotic occlusions and intimal hyperplasia limit the success of vascular reconstructive procedures. Thrombolysis is expected to improve the outcome for both restenosis and acute arterial occlusion after injury. Tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) is commonly used clinically, and it is thought to play a critical role in vascular remodeling by mediating intravascular clot lysis and modulating cell migration within the vessel wall. However, there is controversy about the late effects of tPA on the vascular lumen either for preventing or enhancing intima hyperplasia in vivo. Thus, this study was done to evaluate the impact of a clinical infusion of tPA on the neointima formation after a balloon injury. METHOD: Forty male Sprague- Dawley rats weighting of 250~300 gm each were underwent aortic intimal denuation with a 2F balloon catheter. The rats were divided into two groups: the control group (n=20: normal saline infusion), and the*ean IMAR on the 21st day was 1.14+/-0.16 in the control group and 1.10+/-0.11 in the experiment group. The mean IMAR was lower in the experiment group, but the result was not statistically significant. In comparison to the gelatinolytic activity of MMP-9 and, activated MMP-2, there was no significant difference between the two groups. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that the effect of tPA on intimal hyperplasia after balloon injury to rat aorta showed minimal significance.

Korean Journal of Community Nutrition 1997;2(2):206-217
This study was designed to analyze and compare production management practices and labor productivity between conventional and commissary school foodservices and 46 dietitians of commissary school foodservices in Kyunggi-do. The response rates were 89.7% and 91.3%, respectively. The number of meals served was ranged from less than 100 to over 1,900 in conventional school foodservices and from 200 to 1,600 in commissary foodservices. Thirty three conventional foodservices(42.3%) produced less than 300 meals per day. Numbers of satellite school per central kitchen were ranged from 1 to 5 schools ; fifty percent of commissary foodservices have contained 3 satellite schools. Meals for satellite schools were transported between 11:00 a.m.and 12:00 a.m ; transportation time was from 10 to 90 minutes. Waiting time before service in satellite schools was between 10 minutes and 80 minutes. Part time employees supported by parents were hired in 37.3% of conventional and 50% of commissary school foodservices. Voluntary workers were supplied for 64.9% of conventional and 52.4% of commissary school foodservices. Labor productivity was calculated from work schedule. Labor productivity(labor minutes per meal)was lowest in foodservices with 101-4-- meals(8.48 min)was lower than that of foodservices with above 401 meals ; no significant differences were found among 401-700(6.02 min), 701-1,100(4.01 min), 1,101-1,500(3.41 min), and 1,501-1,900(3.15 min)meals in conventional foodservices. Labor minutes per meal of foodservices which served less than 400 meals(6.90 min) per day was significantly lower than those of foodservices which served 401-1,900 meal(3.41-4.92 min) in commissary foodservices(p<0.05)

Journal of Korean Medical Science 1988;3(2):73-77
For the purpose of prenatal diagnosis of CAH, genetic linkage analysis by HLA genotyping with lymphocytes and cultured amniotic cells were performed in a family at risk in which two consecutive children had been affected with SW CAH. In addition, the response of serum 17-OHP to intravenous ACTH was determined in obligate carrier parents, and 17-OHP concentration of amniotic fluid was also measured at 16 weeks of gestation. As might be expected, the baseline levels of 17-OHP in obligate parents were significantly higher than that of normal control. Although the post stimulation response of 17-OHP to ACTH in the mother (I-2) was significantly higher than that of normal control, the post stimulation levels of 17-OHP were in normal range in the father (I-1). The 17-OHP level (5.7 ng/ml) in the amniotic fluid showed intermediate value compared to Pang's report (normal less than 30 ng/ml, CAH greater than 12.0 ng/ml) suggesting heterozygote of the fetus. Genetic linkage analysis by HLA genotyping with cultured amniotic cells revealed heterozygote in their fetus (II-3) who has received one chromosome No,6 containing HLA haplotype A24, B40, Cw3 (normal allele for 21-OH) from the father and the other chromosome No,6 containing HLA haplotype A2, Bw62, Cw4 (mutant allele for 21-OH D) from the mother. In conclusion, attempts to detect heterozygote for 21-OH deficiency by ACTH stimulation test were partially successful and prenatal diagnosis of CAH by the hormone studies in ammiotic fluid requires reliable values in normal, heterozygotes and patients group, respectively.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2012;42(4):517-524
PURPOSE: To compare and confirm the impact of prepregnancy body mass index on pregnancy outcome in women with a singleton conceived by assisted reproductive technology and spontaneously conceived pregnancy. METHODS: A sample of 165 and 247 pregnant women with and without assisted reproductive technology were retrospectively recruited from electronic medical charts of C hospital. RESULTS: There were significant differences between the two groups for maternal age, paternal age, length of marriage, prepregnancy body mass index, parity, spontaneous abortion experience, and preterm delivery. A prepregnancy body mass index of > or =25 was associated with higher risk for maternal and neonatal complication in the assisted reproductive technology group. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that a higher prepregnancy body mass index is associated with increased risks for adverse pregnancy outcomes for women using assisted reproductive technology. So these women need appropriate care to compensate for the risk.

Journal of Nutrition and Health 2021;54(2):139-151
Purpose:
This study examines the correlation between fish consumption and the risk of mild cognitive impairment in the elderly living in rural areas.
Methods:
The Yangpyeong cohort data collected from Yangpyeong in July 2009 and August 2010 was used as the data set. Adults greater than or equal to 60 years who have completed the Korean version of the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE-KC) were selected for the study. After excluding participants with less than 500 kcal of energy intake (n = 2), a total of 806 adults were enrolled as the final subjects. Cognitive function was assessed using the MMSE-KC, and dietary intake was collected using the quantitative food frequency questionnaire comprising 106 foods or food groups.
Results:
The educational level, proportion of people who exercise, fruits and vegetable intake, and energy intake, tended to increase with fish intake among men, while increasing age resulted in decreased fish consumption. Among women, the educational level, proportion of subjects who exercise, proportion of subjects currently taking dietary supplements, fruits and vegetable intake, and energy intake, tended to increase with fish consumption, whereas increasing age showed decreasing fish consumption. Increased fish intake resulted in a higher MMSE-KC score after adjusting for the confounding variables in women (p for trend = 0.016), but no significant trend was observed between fish intake and MMSE-KC score in men. Fish intake was inversely related to the risk of mild cognitive impairment after adjusting for covariates in women (Q1 vs. Q4; odds ratio, 0.46 [0.23–0.90]; p for trend = 0.009).
Conclusion
This study determined that increased fish consumption is correlated with reduced risk of mild cognitive impairment in the female elderly. Further longitudinal studies with larger samples are required to determine a causal relationship between fish intake and cognitive function.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to compare the factors which influence the brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) in pre- and post-menopausal women. We also investigated the association of menopause with arterial stiffness measured by baPWV. METHODS: We performed a retrospective review of 241 postmenopausal women who attended the health promotion center for a routine checkup. Simple and multiple regression analyses were performed to determine the parameters influencing baPWV in pre- and postmenopausal women. Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the independent parameters related to increased of arterial stiffness. RESULTS: Multiple regression analysis showed that diastolic blood pressure (DBP; beta = 0.402, P = 0.009) was identified as an independent determinant for baPWV in premenopausal women, and DBP (beta = 0.329, P = 0.021) and the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR; beta = 0.210, P = 0.016) were identified as independent determinants for baPWV in postmenopausal women. The odds ratio (95% CI) of menopause for a high baPWV was 2.666 (1.025~6.937). CONCLUSION: The NLR is associated with arterial stiffness in postmenopausal women. Consequently, inflammation is thought to play a crucial role in increased arterial stiffness in postmenopausal women. Menopause is associated with a high baPWV, suggesting that changes in the concentrations of sex hormones during the menopausal transition may influence arterial stiffness in clinically healthy women.

Korean Journal of Pediatrics 2005;48(1):21-26
PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to find the prevalence of obesity, the serum lipid levels and the age at menarche in adolescent female athletes and to examine the effects of exercise in adolescent stage. METHODS: With a questionnaire regarding their age at menarche, physical measurement, body fat, and blood samples of the serum lipid levels to evaluate the hyperlipidemia were obtained from adolescent female athletes(n=107) and general adolescent students(n=650) who didn't exercise at regular intervals, aged 12 to 18 years. RESULTS: The mean weight in the athletes' group was 53.3+/-7.3 kg, which was similar with 54.3+/-8.0 kg in the control group. The mean height in the athletes' group was 161.4+/-5.4 cm, which was taller than 158.9+/-5.3 cm in the control group. The prevalence of obesity by obesity index, body fat, and BMI in the athletes' group were significantly lower than in control group. There was no significant difference in age at menarche between two groups(12.6+/-1.3, 12.9+/-1.2). The levels of cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol in the athletes' group were higher than in the control group. The levels of triglyceride in the athletes' group was lower than in control group. CONCLUSION: These data suggest the importance of exercise in adolescents for the prevention of obesity since it may reduce body fat and increase the height. There was no negative effect of exercise on the age at menarche. We think that more controlled assessment of nutrition, diet habit, hormonal effect and height are warranted to find the correlation with hyperlipidemia and exercise at the adolescent stage.
