Background The identification of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) have provided exciting prospects for cell-based regeneration after myocardic infraction.However cell therapy have inherent limitations such as low survival rate of transplanted cells and insufficient cell number.It is known that cell-matrix adhesion plays a key role in cell proliferation,differentiation and survival,and chemokine CXCL12 may involved in these prcesses.Transfected mesenchymalstem cells with CXCL12 for local secretion of CXCL12 and then explored CXCL12 triggered adhesion of mesenchymal stem cells to extracellular matrix proteins.Mesenchymal stem cells was transfected with CXCL12.?V and ?3 integrins content was evaluated by Western blot analysis.Cell adhesion to extracellular matrix was examined in vitro and cell prolife-ration after transplantation in vivo.Transfection of CXCL12 resulted increased CXCL12 in situ.Increased CXCL12 induced elevated adhesion to fibronectin in vitro and higher survival in vivo.CXCL12 mediated adhesion and proliferation was established by ?V and ?3 integrin subunits.Chemoattractive mechanisms are involved in adhesion processes of mesenchymal stem cells.Increased CXCL12 leads to enhanced expression of ?V and ?3 integrins,which may augment cell survival,proliferation and differrentiation.

Objective To verify the feasibility of a rat model of acute hypertension, and to observe the imaging findings at 7.0T MR scanner of the model.Methods In experimental group, the rats were scanned at 7.0T Bruker MR scanner when phenylephrine was injected continuously to evoke an acute hypertension state.The real time blood pressure was monitored through a femoral arterial catheter connected to a pressure transducer.The control group was infused with saline.T2WI, DWI and T1 mapping were performed in the two rat groups.ADC maps and T1 maps were acquired after image post-processing, and a voxel wise analysis and a ROI analysis were applied.The brain morphology change was evaluated by HE staining.The blood-brain barrier permeability was evaluated by Evans blue staining.Results The T2 images and DWI images of the experiment group showed no abnormal signal intensity changes observed by naked eyes.But ROI analysis of the ADC maps showed that the brain ADC values of the experiment group was higher than the control group (t=3.291,P<0.01, the cortex;t=2.186,P<0.05, the subcortex).Voxel wise analysis of the ADC maps showed vasogenic edema mainly distributed in the parietal and occipital regions,subcortical nuclei (caudate nucleus),thalamus,brainstem and cerebellum,which mainly located in the posterior portions of cerebral hemispheres.T1 image analysis did not show any significant difference between two groups (P>0.05).The blue dye region was only performed in the experimental group,the results of HE staining corresponded with vasogenic brain edema.Conclusion Continuous infusing of phenylephrine hydrochloride can induce a rat model of acute hypertension.Vasogenic edema and blood-brain barrier permeability change can be observed in the rat model, and the imaging distribution of vasogenic edema can be detected by MRI.

To elucidate the early sequential morphogenetic progress of exencephaly and myeloschisis, rat embryos whose mothers had been treated with hypervitaminosis A were studied at 1-day interval from gestation day 10.5 to 15.5. In exposed animals sequential change was found in both exencephaly and myeloschisis as the embryos grew up. The 10.5-day old exencephalic embryos had still widely open cephalic neural tubes. Exencephalic embryos older than 13.5 days of gestation showed strikingly severe eversion and overgrowth of the cephalic neuroepithelium, thus failed in forming normal primitive brain. The convex dorsal surface of the exencephaly was covered with ependyma, which was connected directly with surrounding surface eqithelium at the periphery. The earliest morphologically recognized myeloschisis was in the 13.5-day old embryos. In myeloschisis, divergence at the roof plate and eversion of the spinal neural tube, disorganized overgrowth of the neuroepithelium, malformed and misplaced spinal ganglia and nerve roots, and absence of the neural arch and dermal covering were characteristic. It is suggested that exencephaly results from failure of the cephalic neural tube closure which is followed by eversion and overgrowth of the neuroepithelium. And failure in closure of the posterior neuropore and disturbance in the development of the tail bud probably play major role in the morphogenesis of myeloschisis.

While the microbiology of cellulitis in the pediatric population and systemic diseases(DM, Cirrhosis, etc) is well known,the causative bacteria and clinical aspect of cellulitis in young adults are less descrihed. this study was undertaken to identify the causative organisms and clinical aspect of adult cellulits. We analysed 121 medical records of 115 young adult patients with cellulitis who had been admitted at the department of orthopaedic surgery, National Police hospital from Jan. 1994. to Dec. 1996. The results were as follows. 1. The age of patient was between 21 yrs and 25 yrs, and the sex of all patients was male. 2. The lower leg and foot were the most frequently involved site of cellulitis as 92 cases(74.2%). 3. The potals were suspected in 65 cases(56.5%),of them, traumas were detected in 43 cases(66.1%), non-traumatic skin lesions in 23 cases(33.9%). 4. In most cases, initial systemic symptoms (fever, chill, headache, etc.) and local symptoms (local heating, tenderness, etc.) were found. 5. The laboratory findings revealed leukocytosis in 19%, elevated ESR in 94%, positive CRP in 80%. 6. Microorganism were detected in 16 of 38 pus cultures. Gram positive microorganisms were detected in 15 of 16 cases culture positive. 7. 6.7% of patients with cellulitis experienced recurrence in same lesions. In conclusion, the retrospective analysis of 115 young adult patients with cellulitis showed that primary cause of young adult cellulit was circulatory disturbance and lymphatic obstruction of the lower extremities most often involved by trauma. therefore, supportive treatments such as rest,elevation,ice packs are considered prior to antibiotic treatment.antibiotic treatment aimed at gram-positive cocci appears to be sufficient.

Tumor and tumor-like lesion of the patella are extremely rare. The following have been reported: giant cell tumor; osteoblastoma; osteoid osteoma; chondroblastoma; solitary osteochon droma; chondroma; ganglion; simple bone cyst; aneurysmal bone cyst; hyperparathyrodism (brown tumor); malignant lymphoma; haemangioendothelioma; haemangima; primary osteosarcoma; plasmocytoma and metastases. Chodroblastoma in patella were very rare and first repoted by Jerone Cohren in 1963. On review of our literatures, we could not find reported case in Korea. The purpose of this paper is to present an unusual case of chondroblastoma of the patella.
