1.The Effects of Modifded DaHuang ZheChong Pill on T Lymphocyte Subpopulation in Tumor-bearing Mice

Objective To investigate the effects of Modifded DaHuang ZheChong Pill on T lymphocyte subpopulation of S180 tumor-bearing mice.Methods The mice were built to the S180 sarcoma model.The experimental animals were divided into 5 groups:High-dose Modifded DaHuang ZheChong Pill group.middle-dose Modifded DaHuang ZheChong Pill group,low-dose Modifded DaHuang ZheChong Pill group,model group,and normal group.The proportion of the T lymphocyte subpopulation was detected by Flow Cytometer in the different experimental groups.Results Modifded DaHuang ZheChong pill could control radio of CD4/CD8,especially,in the high dosage group.Conclusion Modifded DaHuang ZheChong Pill could remit and improve the immune function in tumor-bearing mice,showing the best results in High-dose Modifded DaHuang ZheChong Pill group.
2.THE DETECTION OF THE EVIDENCE OF ENGRAFTMENT AFTER NONMYELOABLATIVE ALLOGENEIC PERIPHERAL BLOOD STEM CELL TRANSPLANTATION

This paper investigate the methods to detect engraftment rate of the four patients with hematological disorders who accepted nonmyeloablative allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation(NAPBSCT). To find out the best method, their engraftment rates were detected serially at different time after NAPBSCT by means of either FISH, or conventional chromosome analysis combined with R-banding analysis concurrently.The results were carefully compared with one another. All these four sex-mismatched cases were engrafted partially,and two of them changed to full engrafment. The results show no statistically significant difference in 3 groups (conventional method, FISH for hypermetaphase, FISH for interphase nuclei). But the results strongly indicate that FISH is a rapid, precise, objective,and reliable menthod for detection of the engraftment rate,and it is suitable for sex-mismatched NAPBSCT.

4.The changes of S100β in serum and brain of rats with sepsis-associated encephalopathy

Objective To study the changes of S100βin serum and brain tissue of rats with sepsisassociated encephalopathy (SAE).Methods After placement of pole plates of electroencephalogram (EEG) on the brain cortex,thirty SD rats were randomly (random number) divided into three groups post hoc:sepsis group in which rats were made to be sepsis models by cecal ligation and puncture (n =18),normal group (n =6) and sham operation group (n =6).The sepsis-associated encephalopathy was diagnosed with electroencephalogram taken by RM6240 physiological signal recorder.Meanwhile,heart rate and blood pressure were recorded.Eight hours later,serum and brain tissue of sacrificed rats were taken for measuring S100β.The results ware analyzed with one-way ANOVA.Results Of 18 sepsis rats,3 were dead,8 without SAE and 7 with SAE.The levels of S100βin serum and brain tissue of rats with SAE group were significantly higher than those in normal group and sham operation proup (P < 0.05).The Ratio of brain/serum S100βin rats with SAE group was higher than that in rats without SAE (1.74 vs 1.51,P < 0.05).Conclusions Significantly high level of serum S100βwas a reliable bio-marker for diagnosis of SAE in rats.
5.A case-control study on postoperative cognitive dysfunction induced by patient-controlled intravenous analgesia in elderly patients

Objective To investigate the risk factors for postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD)induced by patient-controlled intravenous analgesia(PCIA)in elderly patients. Methods 95 patients with POCD and 97 cognitive normal controls were included in the study. The cases and controls were matched for gender, type of operation and PCIA volume dose. Cognitive function was assessed by Mini-Mental-State test and the relationship between POCD and various factors was analyzed by univariate and multivariate analysis. Results Univariate analysis revealed that the education level and visual analog scale (VAS) score had significant differences between the two groups. Multivariate analysis showed that the VAS score and education level were significantly related to POCD induced by PCIA, with the odds ratios of 2. 379 (95%CI:1.205~4.698) and 0. 292 (95%CI:0.157~0.543), respectively. Conclusions Lower VAS score is an independent risk factor and higher education level seems to be a protective factor for POCD induced by PCIA.
6.Topical cell growth factors for wound healing after fractional CO2 laser therapy: an experimental study

ObjectiveTo compare the accelerating effect of topical recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) and recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor (rb-bFGF) on wound healing after fractional CO2 laser therapy.MethodsTwenty male guinea pigs were included in this study.After hair removal and irradiation with fractional CO2 laser,the back of each guinea pig was divided into 4 regions to be topically treated with rhEGF of 10 μg/cm2 (rhEGF group),rb-bFGF of 262.51 IU/cm2 (rb-bFGF group),the combination of rhEGF and rb-bFGF (combination group),or normal saline (control group),twice daily until the healing of wound.Skin physiology parameters including elasticity index and melanin index were detected before the irradiation,7,14 and 28 days after the irradiation,and compared between the 4 groups by analysis of variance.Tissue specimens were obtained from 4 mice at the above time points and subjected to pathological examination for the observation of collagen fibers and quantification of fibroblasts.ResultsAfter fractional CO2 laser therapy,the crusts fall off completely in growth factor-treated regions,while partly in the control regions,within 3 to 7 days; the wounds healed completely in 14 to 28 days in all the groups,with the regenerating tissue being more tender and redder compared with the surrounding unirradiated tissue.The wound surface was smaller in area and redder in color in the 3 growth factor-treated groups than in the control group.At 28 days after the irradiation,the elasticity index was 262.29 ± 62.40 in the combination group,202.00 ± 65.62 in the rhEGF group,188.86 ± 35.02 in the rb-bFGF group,167.14 ± 42.49 in the control group.Statistical difference was observed in elasticity index,but not in skin melanin index among the 4 groups.Pathological examination showed a dense and organized arrangement of collagen fibers in the combination group but a sparse and disorganized arrangement of collagen fibers in the control group.ConclusionThe combined application of rhEGF and rbbFGF can accelerate the healing of wound and increase the elasticity of regenerating tissue after fractional CO2 laser therapy.

10.Serum sialic acid levels in diagnosis and monitoring of malignant tumor

Serum sialic acid (SA) levels were detected by neuraminidase method in 366 patients with malignant tumor, 40 patients with benign diseases and 40 healthy subjects.For 277 malignant tumor patients, serum SA levels were monitored before and after treatment.The serum SA levels in malignant tumor group were significantly higher than those in benign diseases and control groups (P <0.01 ), but there were no differences between normal and benign groups (P >0.05 ).Serum SA levels were decreased in malignant tumor patients with remission and stable disease after treatment.In remission or stable patients the decrease of serum SA levels occurred in the first three months and no changes were found from the fourth to sixth month; meanwhile SA levels were elevated in patients with instablc condition.
