Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2015;33(5):474-477
Herpes simplex keratitis (HSK) is the first inflammatory cause for uniocular blindness. The clinical inspection methods commonly used are limited to general observation, while in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) can provide details of cellular changes in an intravital HSK.IVCM not only gives more clinical evidence for pathology studying of HSK,but also serves as a new technology for the whole progress of HSK epidemiology. This article reviewed current researches of applying IVCM for HSK clinical observation and summarized these latest results.Morphological changes of each layer of the cornea, the specificity of these changes and clinical application of IVCM had been discussed in this article.
2.Induction of mice spleen suppressor cell activity by Trypterygium Wilfordii Hook f
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(02):-
We have studied the induction of mice spleen suppressor cell activity by Trypterygium Wilfordii Hook f. both in vivo and in vitro. We detected the suppressor cell activity in mice which were administrated with the drug for different days & found that after giving the drug for 5 or 9 days, the suppressor cell activity elevated remarkly, but for 12 & 15 days, the suppressor cell activity varied indefinitely, some were higher & some were lower. The drug inhibited the response of spleen cell to Con A too. But the release of inhibition on Con A responsibility was earlier than the recovery of elevated suppressor cell activity. Cocultured with the drug, slight promotion on cell proliferation was observed. The normal spleen cells cocultured with the drug for two days suppressed the normal spleen cell proliferation stimulated by Con A, the suppressive rate was comparable to that of Con A induced suppressor celll.

4.Expression of adiponectin in the periodontal tissue of Kunming mice with diabetic periodontitis
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2015;(5):721-726
BACKGROUND:Adiponectin and periodontal disease are closely related with type 2 diabetes. OBJECTIVE:To detect the expression of adiponectin in periodontal tissue of Kunming mice of diabetes periodontitis, and explore the effects on periodontal tissue pathology and prognosis. METHODS:Sixty 3-week-old Kunming mice were divided into three groups according to the different modeling methods:control group (normal feeding), diabetes group (diabetic model was established by injection of al oxan), diabetes and periodontitis group (periodontitis model was established by local ligation and bacteria developed). Each group contained 20 rats. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:At 20 days after modeling, the blood glucose, fasting insulin and insulin resistance index of mice in the diabetes group were higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). ELISA, RT-PCR and western blot analysis results showed that, adiponectin gene and protein expression levels in periodontal tissues were the highest in the control group, then in the diabetes group, and the lowest in the diabetes and periodontitis group, at 1, 3, 6, months postoperatively, respectively (P<0.05). The periodontal gum tissue inflammation and histopathological changes were observed at 1, 3, 6, months postoperatively. The results showed that, the inflammation in periodontal tissues was the most obvious in the diabetes and periodontitis group, and was visible in the diabetes group, but the inflammation was not present in the control group. Experimental findings indicate that, the down-regulation of adiponectin expression in the periodontal tissue is one of the important factors that trigger and aggravate the onset of periodontitis.
5.Oxidative stress induced by sleep deprivation: an update
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1982;0(02):-
Sleep deprivation, as a stress just like starvation and anoxia, can induce the physiological function changes, such as emotion disorders, cognition disorders, and immune disorders. Oxidative stress is common in cells and is closely related to aging, Alzheimer disease, Pakinson diseases, etc. Previous studies showed that sleep deprivation could induce oxidative stress via different pathways, namely, the increase of the metabolic rate and free radicals, the depress of antioxidant ability, and the indirect effects of endoplasmic reticulum stress. In this review we summarize the recent progress on the above fields.
6.Value of 2 dimension color Doppler ultrasound in surgical and interventional treatment of carotid artery stenosis
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2000;0(11):-
Objective:To systematically assess the value of 2 dimension color Doppler ultrasound(2D-CDUS) in diagnosis, surgical treatment and interventional therapy of carotid artery stenosis. Methods: Twenty seven carotid stenosis patients were examined before and after operation with 2D-CDUS. The morphology and hemodynamic of carotid artery were detected. Results: Pre-operative examination showed that there were 17 cases with stenosis degree being 50%-70%, 2 cases 71%-79%, 5 cases 80%-90%, 3 cases 90%-99%. Twelve cases were operated on with carotid endarterectomy(CEA), 15 cases with percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stent(PTAS). After operation all the vessels with CEA were patent, colored well and blood velocity was close to normal. Residual intima was observed floating in the blood vessel in only one patient. In the patients treated by PTAS, the location and courser of the stents were normal, and the vessels were patent. Conclusion: 2D-CDUS is convenient to use and non-invasive, which can assess extracranial carotid stenosis accurately before operation, assess the curative effect and detect the complications after operation.
7.Application of TC-2D-CDUS before and after surgical treatment of carotid artery stenosis
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1981;0(04):-
Objective:To assess the value of Transcranial Two Dimensional Color Doppler Ultrasound(TC-2D-CDUS) in diagnosis of carotid artery stenosis and in follow-up study after surgical treatment. Methods: Thirteen patients with carotid artery stenosis, who were excluded from vertebral or intracranial diseases, were detected before and after operation with TC-2D-CDUS. Results: TC-2D-CDUS indicated that 2 patients' image were not satisfactory, and the blood velocity of middle cerebral artery (MCA) in the same side of lesion was lowered to different extents in the other 11 patients. The waveform was blunted in 3 patients with their systolic peak disappeared, acceleration time prolonged, and the direction of the anterior cerebral artery(ACA) in the same side inverted. After operation,TC-2D-CDUS indicated that MCA blood velocity and the direction of ACA were normal. The blood distribution was symmetric in bilateral brains. Conclusion: TC-2D-CDUS can provide intracranial hemodynamic information. It can be used in the follow-up study after operation, helping to make accurate judgement and discover complications.

10.Insulin-like growth factor-1/chitosan/collagen composite scaffold and the proliferation of human periodontal ligament cells
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(8):1231-1236
BACKGROUND:Insulin-like growth factor-1 can promote mitosis of fibroblasts as wel as periodontal cellgrowth, differentiation and synthesis of extracelular matrix.
OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of chitosan/colagen composite scaffold carrying insulin-like growth factor-1 on proliferation of human periodontal ligament cels.
METHODS: The human periodontal ligament cels were seeded on chitosan/colagen composite scaffold carrying insulin-like growth factor-1 and ordinary colagen scaffold. The release of recombinant human transforming growth factor-β1 was detected at 1, 24 hours and 1 week after culture; celladhesion and proliferation were detected at days 1, 7 and 28.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The release rate of recombinant human transforming growth factor-β1 in the composite scaffold was significantly lower than that in the ordinary colagen scaffold at 1, 24 hours and 1 week after cellseeding (P < 0.01). The celladhesion and proliferation showed no difference between two groups at day 1 after cellseeding, but became significantly higher in the composite scaffold than that in the ordinary colagen scaffold at days 7 and 28 (P < 0.01). These findings indicate that chitosan/colagen composite scaffold carrying insulin-like growth factor-1 can significantly promote the proliferation of the human periodontal ligament cels.
