In recent years, driven by the support of national policies and societal needs for employments, talents in biology majors have been growing rapidly. To foster high-calibre biology talents for the society in the context of the "double world-class initiative" in higher education, this study analyzed the opinion of biology undergraduates in Huzhou University on employment and their professional recognition of biology majors. The aim of this study was to propose a high-quality employments-driven talent training mode for undergraduates in biology majors, so as to serve as a reference for the reform in training modes of other relevant majors.

2.Introduction of curriculum of molecular pharmacognosy.

Based on the features of molecular pharmacognosy subjects, this paper analyzed and induced three features of the curriculum, basic contents and learning methods of it for the need of under-graduate or post-graduate students study. The future development of the molecular pharmacognosy was also introduced in this paper. It was aimed to make the students clear about the subject of molecular pharmacognosy on the whole and spread it in teaching.

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology are the cornerstone courses of talent training in the field of life science. Taking these course as an example, this study explored reconstructing the knowledge framework, developing teaching cases, sharing teaching resources, innovating teaching means and establishing ideological education patterns. Supported by the scientific research achievements with discipline characteristics and online teaching platform, this research explored and practiced an integrated curriculum reform mode. This mode is guided by scientific research and education, based on the course development, and driven by communication and cooperation. A shared space of "exchange, practice, openness and informatization" was developed to achieve free and independent integration of undergraduate and graduate teaching motivated by learning knowledge, resulting in an effective student training.

4.Development and reform of the curriculum of engineering ethics education in biology and medicine under the background of "new engineering".

The "new engineering" concept requires that in addition to laying a solid professional foundation, engineering colleges and universities in China should also pay attention to improving the humanistic quality and developing a professional ethics education in training the engineering and technical talents. One important way is to carry out the engineering ethics education. By referring to the mature case-teaching ideas around the world and combining the practical experience accumulated in recent years, this paper focuses on the curriculum development and teaching reform of engineering ethics for students studying biological and medical engineering, from the perspectives of case selection and teaching method innovation. It also introduces some typical case studies, and summarizes the teaching effect analyzed from questionnaire.

5.Interdisciplinary teaching-assisted education reform in "Principal Biology".

General education in biological courses such as "Principal Biology" is an essential avenue for gaining an understanding of life science and developing an interest in the field. The reform of biological education teaching mode based on interdisciplinary approaches aims to foster cross-disciplinary talents, which is crucial for the rapid development of China's bioeconomy. Teaching method that simply superimposes different subjects is difficult to discover the value of interdisciplinary education. To address this, a novel teaching system and an innovative teaching mode were proposed for "Principal Biology" course by integrating science and engineering subjects, based on the cross-disciplinary feature in Beijing Institute of Technology. The system involves the design of cross-disciplinary course content and the integration of multiple disciplines and knowledge points based on students' majors, taking into account the characteristics of students' physical and mental development. To improve students' scientific literacy and interdisciplinary thinking ability, differentiated and major-driven teaching modes were applied by incorporating the "1+N" mixed and immersive cross-thinking training. The effectiveness of tailored cross-disciplinary teaching was evaluated using "in-teaching" and "post-teaching" data feedback models, which promote the optimization of teaching process and enhance the quality of education in cross-disciplinary biological science.

6.Survey on the Status of Biosafety Awareness Among Domestic Biology Researchers.

In this study, a survey was conducted to investigate the current status of biosafety awareness by each region, targeting domestic biology researchers. A total of 4 surveys were conducted from September 24 to October 2, 2013 in Kangwon province, Seoul Metropolitan area, Chungchong Province, and Gyeongsang Province, and 189 respondents participated in the survey. Of the survey respondents, 135 (71.4%) answered that “It is likely for an infection to happen in the laboratory” and 23 (12.2%) answered “highly likely”. However, as to the Risk Group and Biosafety Facility Level, only 24 (12.7%) and 25 (13.2%) of the respondents, respectively, responded “know them very well”. These results indicate that researchers are aware of the need for the concept of biosafety in laboratories, but they lack systematic education and publicity. Therefore, it will be necessary to develop a system that can systematically educate the regulations and compliance of biosafety.

7.Colonoscopy Quality is the Answer for the Emerging Issue of Interval Cancer.

Colonoscopy is currently regarded as the gold standard and preferred screening method for colorectal cancer (CRC). Recently, however, a limitation of colonoscopy in the prevention of CRCs has been identified, particularly in the right-sided colon, and the problem of so-called interval cancers has emerged. The prevalence of interval cancer is estimated to be between 4% and 8% of CRCs detected. Although the exact etiology of interval cancer remains unknown, factors implicated in the development of interval cancers include missed lesions at the time of colonoscopy, incomplete resection of previous neoplastic lesions, different tumor biology, and serrated pathway of carcinogenesis. However, recent evidence suggests that interval cancers are related to the training of the endoscopist and quality of the colonoscopy rather than tumor biology. Therefore, the importance of adequate training and continuous monitoring of the colonoscopy quality, which are amenable to improvement, cannot be overstated in order to prevent the risk of interval cancers. In this study, the current literature regarding the prevalence and potential factors related to interval cancers and colonoscopy quality-related issues are reviewed.

The Bethesda System (TBS) was first developed in 1988 for the need to enhance the communication of the cytopathologic findings to the referring physician in unambiguous diagnostic terms. The terminology used in this reporting system should reflect current understanding of the pathogenesis of cervical/vaginal disease, so the framework of the reporting system should be flexible enough to accommodate advances in medicine, including virology, molecular biology, and pathology. Three years after the introduction of TBS, the second Bethesda workshop was held to set or amend diagnostic criteria for each categories of TBS. TBS 1991 is now widely used. The third Bethesda workshop, The Bethesda System 2001 Workshop, was held in National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Maryland from April 30 to May 2, 2001. Again, the goals of this workshop were to promote effective communication and to clarify in reporting cervical cytopathology results to clinicians and to provide with the information to make appropriate decisions about diagnosis and treatment. Nine forum groups were made and there were Web-based bulletin board discussions between October, 2000 and the first week of April, 2001. On the basis of bulletin board comments and discussions, the forum moderators recommended revised terminologies in the Workshop. Hot discussions were followed after the presentation by forum moderators during the workshop. Terminologies confusing clinicians and providing no additional informations regarding patient management were deleted in the workshop to clarify the cervicovaginal cytology results. Any informations related to the patient management were encouraged to add. So 'Satisfactory for evaluation but limited by' of 'Specimen Adequacy' catergory was deleted. Terminology of 'Unsatisfactory' was further specified as 'Specimen rejected' and 'Specimen processed and examined, but unsatisfactory'. Terminologies of 'Benign Cellular Change' and 'Within Normal Limits' were combined and terminology was changed to 'Negative for intraepithelial lesion

10.The Exploratory Study for Medical Aptitude Constructs.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to explore the individual traits needed for the successful performance of a doctor's duties as well as to establish primary criteria for the Medical Education Eligibility Test. METHODS: This study conducted qualitatively by interviewing 43 persons: medical school professors, residents, and medical reporters. The analysis of data were applied a content analysis. RESULTS: 1) The important intelligent abilities revealed were problem solving, verbal expression, and memory. 2) The personality traits included sincerity, sociability, respectability, gentleness, and reflective thinking. 3) The biology, chemistry, and physics were important in the natural science background knowledge, and 4) linguistics, philosophy, and social science were important in human and social science background knowledge. CONCLUSION: The medical aptitude could be constructed intelligent ability, personality trits, and background knowledges, and include specific aspects depended on Korean context.
