Objective To investigate the relationship between the antiproliferation effects of aloe-emodin on growth of gastric cancer cells and cell cycle arrest. Methods Human gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells were treated with 2.5,5,10,20,and 40 ?mol/L aloe-emodin for 1—5 d.The cell growth was determined by MTT assay.Cell proliferation and cycle distributions were analyzed by flow cytometry.Western blotting assay was used to detect the changes of cell cycle regulators, cyclins, and cyclin-dependent kinases(CDK).Results Aloe-emodin inhibited the growth of gastric cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner.Treatment of aloe-emodin resulted in cell cycle arresting at G2/M phase. Its molecular mechanisms involved the decrease of the expression of cyclin A and CDK2,the increase of the expression of cyclin B1 and CDK1.Conclusion One of the antitumor mechanism of aloe-emodin on the growth of gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells is to arrest the cell cycle, which indicates that aloe-emodin has a potential value for the treatment of gastric cancer in clinic.

Objective To investigate the factors implicated in the outcomes of patients with invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA).Methods During a 5-year period,65 patients with IPA met the criteria set by the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer/Mycoses Study Group (EORTC/MSG)in 2008 were retrospectively evaluated. The initial CT findings of eligible patients were reviewed by two senior radiologists who specialized in chest radiology.Patients were divided into the survivor (n =43 ) and non-survivor (n =22) groups according to their survival as long as 3 months after the diagnosis of IPA was made.An initial univariate analysis was used to screen variables that were related to prognosis, followed by a multivariate logistic regression analysis to examine these variables. Results Of the 65 IPA patients analyzed,23 (35%) had a proven diagnosis and 42 (65%) were probable ones. The univariate analysis showed that the rates of extra-pulmonary infection, uncontrolled underlying diseases and invasive mechanical ventilation were significantly different between the 3-month survival group and the non-survival group ( P <0.05,respectively),whereas chest CT findings, including air-space consolidation/massive consolidation,macronodules,infarct-like macronodules, halo signs, ground-glass opacities, small nodules, hypodense signs, cavities, crescent signs,small-airway findings, bronchial wall thickening/bronchiectasis,pleural effusion and hydro-pericardium, were not significantly different between the two groups (P > O.05,respectively).Logistic regression analysis revealed that an uncontrolled underlying disease was the only independent predictor of 3-month mortality in patients with IPA (P =0.001,OR:O.024,95 % CI:O.003 ~0.223,B =- 3.714,SE =1.129,Wald =10.821 ). Conclusions An uncontrolled co-morbidity was the only independent predictor of mortality within 3 months in patients with IPA.The initial CT findings did not confer any informatioin of implication in predicting the outcomes of IPA patients.

Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are RNA molecules that exclude mRNA, tRNA and rRNA, and do not code proteins. ncRNAs play a various roles in the regulation of important vital activities in many organisms such as bacteria, fungi and mammals. Recent researches have shown that ncRNAs, as oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes, have tremendous impacts on the occurrence and development of tumors. Meanwhile, ncRNAs have become a new type of tumor markers and new targets for cancer treatment. This review describes the research progresses of ncRNAs such as small interference RNA and microRNA, and their roles in carcinogenesis.

Objective To establish CRRT nursing quality evaluation index system based on the structure-process-outcome theory, so as to guide clinical nursing and evaluate CRRT nursing quality. Methods Based on structure-process-outcome theory, the evaluation index system was established by literature review, expert group discussion, Delphi method and semi-structural interviews with 10 nursing staff. Results The returning rates of questionnaires in the first and second round expert consultation were 94.29%(33/35) and 97.14%(34/35), respectively. The authority coefficient of the experts was 0.89, and the coordination coefficient of experts' opinion was 0.294. The program included 3 first indexes, 15 second index and 73 items. Conclusions The result of the study can provide evaluation for the clinical nursing operation.
