OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of the static magnetic field (SMF) generated by dental magnetic attachments on osteoblastic proliferations, cell cycle distribution, and apoptosis ratio.
METHODSBy simulating those of the closed-field, the closure process and the open-field Magnedisc 800 magnetic attachments respectively, the in vitro cultured rat osteoblasts were exposed continuously to 12.5, 125, 250 mT SMF. The effects of the SMF on the proliferation of the cells were examined. MTT colorimetry test was performed to detect the effect of the SMF on the vitalities of cells. Flow cytometry was utilized to analyze the cell cycles and cell apoptosis rates.
RESULTSThe SMF exposure didn't change the vital osteoblasts number, the cell cycle distribution and proliferation activities of osteoblasts. The cell apoptosis situation were not observed statistical differences.
CONCLUSIONNo matter the closed-field, the closure process and the open-field magnetic attachments respectively, continuous simulating SMF-stimulation of magnetic attachments couldn't change osteoblasts proliferation activity, cell cycle distribution, and apoptosis ratio.

Objective To investigate effects of the stoic magnetic field(SMF)generated by dental magnetic attachment on osteoblastic morphology and surface ultrastructure. Methods The in vitro cultured rat osteoblasts were exposed continuously to 12.5 mT,125 mT,and 250 mT static magnetic fields for 1,3,5,and 7 days. After exposed in SMF,osteoblasts were observed under a pliase contrast microscope, and then HE stained and observed under a light microscope. In addition, the cells were observed under a scanning electron microscope(SEM). ResulIs By continuous exposure, the different intensities of SMF exposure did not change the vital osteoblast growth pattern or distribution. The SEM photos showed that there were certain changes in cellular microstructures for osteoblasts after exposed to 12.5 mT for 5 to 7 days,as well as 125 mT and 250 mT for 3 to 7 days. The more exposure time increased, the more microvesicles on the surfaces of cells were observed. Conclusions Continuous SMF-stimulation could not affect the shape, distribution, and growth pattern of osteoblasts. The SMF of magnetic attachments could lead to certain changes in surface uhrastructures of osteoblasts in this study.

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of radiofrequency thermocoagulation with CT-guided transforaminal puncture of intervertebral foramen through the superior margin of costotransverse joint for refractory post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) in the upper thoracic segment. Methods:Thirty patients with PHN in the upper thoracic segment underwent radiofrequency thermocoagulation with CT-guided intervertebral foramen puncture. The visual analogue scale and self-rating depression scale were used to evaluate the degree of postoperative pain and mental state before and after treatment, and patients were followed by telephone or outpatient visit. Results:No infection occurred after radiofrequency thermocoagulation in all 31 PHN patients. After operation, all patients had hypoesthesia in skin of the original pain area, the pain was significantly relieved, and the mental state improved significantly. The VAS scores were 5.94±0.93, 2.74±0.69, 2.68±0.70 and 2.45±0.51 before and 3 hours, 1 week, 1 month after treatment( t=18.80, t=18.80, t=16.44, all P<0.01). The SDS scores were 58.6±12.2, 47.7±4.4, 48.1±4.8 before and 1 week, 1 month after treatment( t=6.75, t=5.86, all P<0.01). There were 13 patients with moderate or severe depression before treatment, while no patients with moderate or severe depression after treatment; only 5 patients had mild depression one month after surgery. There was no hypoxemia under nasal catheter during the operation. Intraoperative hypertension was found in 19 cases; after treatment with Urapidil (12.5 - 50.0 mg), the blood pressure was not higher by 20% of the basal blood pressure and<180/100 mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa). No pneumothorax, perioperative cardiovascular and cerebrovascular accidents occurred. Conclusion:Radiofrequency thermocoagulation with CT-guided intervertebral foramen puncture through the superior margin of costotransverse joint can effectively relieve refractory PHN of the upper thoracic segment with safety.

Background and objective Galectin-3 is involved in many physical and pathologic process, and is closely correlated with tumorigenesis, development and metastasis. hTe aim of this study is to investigate the gene expression and signiifcance of Galectin-3 in normal lung tissue and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissue. Methods Gene expres-sion was examined using the immunohistochemical S-P method in 62 NSCLC cases and in 17 cases with normal lung tissue. RT-PCR veriifed the expression of Galectin-3 at the transcriptional level. Results hTe expression rate of Galectin-3 in NSCLC tissue was 83.8%(52/62), which was signiifcantly higher than that in normal lung tissue (P<0.01). Galectin-3 expression was not correlated with sex (χ2=0.113, P>0.05), age (χ2=0.220, P>0.05), and histological type (χ2=0.012, P>0.05), but was nega-tively correlated with pathological differentiation (r=-0.292, P<0.05) and positively correlated with the clinical stage (r=0.336, P<0.05) in NSCLC tissue. RT-PCR results showed that the expression level of Galectin-3 in NSCLC tissue was signiifcantly higher than in normal lung tissue. Conclusion Galectin-3 may be useful in lung cancer diagnosis and may increase diagnosis rate when combined with other lung cancer markers.

OBJECTIVETo research on the protective effect of 3'-methoxy-puerarin (3'-mo-pue) on rat brain suffering from ischemia and to offer the experimental basis for widening the applied areas of Radix Puerariae.
METHODAll rats were randomly divided into sham operation group, control group, Pue group and 3'-mo-pue group. The influence of different dosage on relevant indexes were measured through cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model rat covered by Fecl3, and cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model rat after 2VO.
RESULTThe result showed that 3'-mo-Pue could reduce the scores of neurological deficit, cerebral infarcted zone to varying degrees and the water content of brain tissue in MCAO model. It could obviously increase the activity of CAT and GPx in the hippocampus and also increase the activity of CAT and GPx in the cortex in the ischemia field. Moreover, 3'-mo-Pue could decrease the content of LPO, LD in the brain tissue of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model rat.
CONCLUSION3'-mo-Pue has favorable protective effect on brain suffering from ischemia. The mechanism is possibly related to its effect of anti-oxidation.

Objective:To summarize and analyze the diagnostic and therapeutic characteristics of asymptomatic primary hyperparathyroidism (aPHPT).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 103 patients with aPHPT admitted to the Chinese PLA General Hospital from January 2012 to September 2023. The clinical characteristics, treatment modes, and prognoses of the patients were analyzed. GraphPad Prism 8.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results:Among the 103 cases, there were 37 males and 66 females, aged from 25 to 78 years, with an average age of (53.81±11.34) years. Ninety-eight cases (95.15%) visited due to abnormal findings during physical examination and 5 cases (4.85%) due to hypertension, diabetes or other diseases. All patients underwent minimally invasive parathyroidectomy with small incision, with 96 cases (93.20%) pathologically diagnosed as adenomas and 7 cases as hyperplasia (6.80%). Postoperative mean serum calcium, parathyroid hormone (PTH) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels were respectively significantly lower than preoperative levels, while postoperative serum phosphorus level was significantly higher than preoperative level ( P<0.05). The mean lesion volume was (3.32±6.72)cm 3 (range 0.05-49.50 cm 3). Patients with different lesion volumes had significant differences in preoperative serum calcium, PTH and ALP levels. Lesion volume was positively correlated to preoperative serum calcium(ρ=0.36, P<0.01), PTH(ρ=0.50, P<0.01) and ALP(ρ=0.39, P<0.01). Among 103 patients, 94 cases were followed up (91.26%), 9 cases were lost (8.74%), and the mean follow-up period was (60.15±29.23) months. The followed-up patients were alive and had no recurrence of lesions or complications, and their blood calcium levels were normal. Conclusion:aPHPT can be preliminarily diagnosed through blood biochemistry and imaging examination, and minimally invasive surgery can offer good prognosis without serious complications.
