Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2014;49(5):569-575
Ginseng is a typical adaptogen which has resistance to various stresses. This effect is related to the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. As the main active ingredients, saponin has the similar structure to steroids. The regulation characteristics of ginseng saponin on the HPA axis are narrated from the aspects of total saponin and saponin monomers in this paper after the introduction of adaptation definition and HPA axis regulation mechanisms. Pharmacological effects of ginseng saponin and the regulation effect of HPA axis are summarized finally.

2. Effect of paeonol on proliferation of human ovarian cancer cell line A2780s
Tumor 2011;31(2):122-125
Objective: To investigate the effect of paeonol (Pae) on the proliferation of human ovarian cancer cell line A2780s in vitro. Methods: Inhibitory effects of Pae with different concentrations on A2780s cells were detected by MTT assay. The cell cycle distribution and the apoptosis rate of A2780s cells were determined by flow cytometry (FCM). Results: The proliferation of A2780s cells was significantly inhibited after treatment with Pae (7.81-250.00 mg/L) in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. FCM results showed that the proportion of cells in S phase was increased while which in G0/G1 phase and G2/M phase were decreased after treatment with Pae (31.25-250.00 mg/L) for 48 h. The apoptosis rate of A2780s cells induced by Pae was increased in a concentration-dependent manner. Conclusion: Pae can inhibit the proliferation and induce the apoptosis of human ovarian cancer cells.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1992;0(05):-
ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between the changes of neuro-electrophysiology and prognosis in children with Guillain-Barr? syndrome(GBS).MethodsThirty-eight children with GBS were divided into group A(rapid recovery,n=16) and group B(slow recovery,n=22) according to the time required for podosoma motor function recovery,at the same time, they were divided into the better prognosis group(n=22) and the worse prognosis group(n=16),for analyzing the difference between group A and B in terms of age, preceding infections, maximal Hughes grades and neuro-electrophysiology including motor conduction velocity(MCV),distal complex muscle action potential(dCMAP) and F wave, and investigating the related factors with the prognosis of GBS.Results1.MCV of tibial nerve was(40.2?2.53) m/s and(33.4?2.46) m/s in group A and group B,respectively;MCV of peroneal nerve was(45.2?3.23) m/s and(38.3?2.16) m/s in group A and group B,respectively, and the difference between group A and group B was significant(Pa0.05);abnormal rate of F wave(68.42%) was higher than abnormal rate of MCV(42.11%) and dCMAP(42.11%)(Pa

Objective To better understand and manage the current situation and problems of patent transformation in university affiliated hospital. Methods we conducted the statistical analysis the quantity of patent authorization in the Peking University People's Hospital during 2002-2013,and the status of patent transformation. Results The quantity of patent authorization increased significantly, however the number of patent transformation is small, with low proportion.Meantime, the transformation period is long, with single mode. Conclusions the hospital should be strengthened for all patent life-cycle management, and strengthen the emphasis on the conversion work to build integrated management team,in particular by building technological achievements promotion platform, improve the incentive mechanism to strengthen the franchise use of the work.

To study the effect of cholesterol and 25-OH-cholesterol on cholesterol metabolism in HepG2 cells and the effect of coptisine (Cop) extracted from Coptidis Rhizoma (CR) in reducing and regulating cholesterol. In this study, TC, TG, LDL-c and HDL-c were measured by biochemical analysis; mRNA and protein expressions of LDLR, HMGCR and CYP7A1 were detected by qRT-PCR and Western blot. According to the results, cholesterol and 25-OH-cholesterol inducing could decrease in mRNA and protein expressions of LDLR and CYP7A1, so as to increase TC and LDL-c contents. However, Cop could up-regulate mRNA and protein expressions of LDLR and CYP7A1 and down-regulate that of HMGCR, so as to reduce TC and LDL-c levels. These findings suggested that Cop has potential pharmacological activity for reducing cholesterol, and may reduce cholesterol by regulating mRNA and protein expressions of key genes involved in cholesterol metabolism, such as LDLR, CYP7A1 and HMGCR. This study laid a firm theoretical foundation for developing new natural drugs with the cholesterol-lowering activity.

Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
The aerolysin genes (aerA) of BZ and NK isolates were cloned and sequenced. The sequence analysis showed that the partial aerA of BZ and NK isolates consisted of 1393 bp, encoding a protein of 464 amino acids. The similarity of nucleotide and amino acid sequences of aerA between BZ and NK isolates was 97.6% and 98.3% respectively. The nucleotide sequence of aerA of BZ strain exhibited 71.6% to 97.5% homology with other Aeromonas isolates, and the amino acid sequence exhibited 68.0% to 98.9% homology. The phylogenetic tree based on aerA nucleotide sequences from Aeromonas isolates was constructed with neighbor-joining method. It showed that there were three branches of aerolysin genes, and a close relation- ship among Aeromonas hydrophila isolates which were clustered into the same branch.

Microbiology experiment existing independently from microbiology theoretical curriculum is an indispensable compulsory course in contemporary life science. This article presents the principle applied by the National Excellent Microbiology Course teaching group in Nankai University, which is to strengthen the undergraduates’ basic skills of conducting microbiology experiments. With an aim to enhance the core competitiveness of the undergraduates, we have established the three-level experimental contents. A new multilevel teaching pattern focusing on basic skill training as the cornerstone has been applied to enhance the overall competences of the students and to stimulate their innovation abilities. Students’ experimental accomplishment will also be taken into consideration when their experiment results are evaluated, which helps to standardizing their research ethics.

Lower back pain refers to the pain in the lower back. It usually refers to the region below the lower costal margin on the back. The pain mostly occurs on L4 and L5, or L5 and L1, which is usually called as lower back pain. For the treatment of low back pain, it has lacked the effective and objective measurement methods based on the functional and structural features of spinal muscles. This article discussed on the core stability and core strength, the identification and classification of core muscle group, the relation between core stabilizing muscle group and low back pain. It also discussed the characteristics and effects of training motion therapy in the improving of core strength. The core of human body was consisted of waist, pelvis and hip joint. Core stabilizing training can effectively stabilize the spine and transmit power. The question of how to train and improve the core strength to relieve low back pain and make effective evaluation according to its therapeutic results are the key points in the future study.

0.05).Conclusions The reduced expression of HLA-G on placenta in ICP patients may alter the maternal-fetal immune response and thus be involved in the pathogenesis of this disorder. Dexamethasone can upregulate the expression of HLA-G on placenta. The 14 bp deletion polymorphism in exon 8 of HLA-G gene might not have a significant influence on the development of ICP.
