1.Effect of lithium on the development of iodine-deficiency goitre
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1989;0(05):-
125 Wistar rats were divided into five groups randomly. The experimental period was 20 weeks. The results showed that both in the rats drinkcd water containing 6mM Li_2CO_3. and the rats with iodine-deficiency alone, their thyroid gland increased in weight and showed a pattern of hyperplatic goitre; their serum T, dropped which T_3 was increased. These changes were more marked in the rats with iodine deficiency and the activity of thyroid superoxidas strengthened. But in the rats that drinked water containing 6mM Li_2CO_3 there was more colloid in the follicular lumens of the thyroid. Under the condition of iodine deficiency, the rats that drinkcd water containing 3mM and 6mM Li_2CO_3 had larger and heavier thyroid gland, and their serum T_4 dropped which T_3 remained normal. Compared with the rats which had iodine deficiency along, their thyroid glands showed a typical picture of colloid goitrc. In the iodine deficiency rats which drinked water containing 3mM Li_2CO_3 the change of the thyroid gland was even more marked.

Objective: This experiment was designed to study the change of nitric oxide (NO) content in different parts of brain in rats suffering from iodine deficiency(ID) and hypothyroidism since their fetal period. Methods: Iodine deficiency animal model was made and NO content in hippocampus(HPC), cerebellum (CE) and cortex(CO) were measured by using NO test kit. Results: Urinary iodine and serum T 3?T 4 concentrations significantly decreased and learning-memory capacity was impaired in ID rats. NO content was significantly lower in HPC and CE in ID rats than in control rats.(HPC:11.61?2.31/2.3?1 18 ?mol/g Prot;CE:10.77?5.16/4.70?1.95 ?mol/g Prot). No difference was found in cortex. Conclusion: Iodine deficiency and hypothyroidism since fetal period could affect NO level in rat brain. Different parts of brain have different sensitivity to ID and hypothyroidism. The changes of NO content in hippocampus may contribute to the learning-memory impairment in ID rats.

The computer-assisted surgery system is a complex system. All of the errors can be attributed to the loss of correspondence between the world coordinate system in the operation room and the virtual world coordinate system obtained from the multi-model medical images. The system's accuracy is composed of the accuracy of the localizer and that of registration. In order to improve the system accuracy, we analyse most of the possible error sources. The accuracy of the localizer affects deeply the registration between the intra-operation and pre-operation data. The localizer is the most basic and important part for a computer-assisted surgery system. We give a comprehensive possible error source at the end of the paper.

AIM: To observe the levels of triglyceridemia(TG),uricemia(UA),glycemia(GLU),the activity of 3-glyceraldehyde phosphate dehydrogenase(GAPDH) in blood and the gene expression in the liver in the animal model of hypertriglyceridemia, hyperuricemia and hyperglycemia.METHODS: SD rats were randomly divided into three groups, control group, fructose group, fructose and fenofibrate treated group.Rats in control group were fed with standard chow.Rats in fructose group were fed with high fructose diet.Rats in fructose and fenofibrate group were fed with high fructose diet, and treated with fenofibrate 100 mg?kg-1?d-1 by intragastric administration at the same time.Rats in control group and fructose group were given distilled water by intragastric administration. The levels of TG,UA and GLU were detected.Improved method was used to measure the activity of GAPDH.Quanti Gene technology was applied to determine the transcriptional level of GAPDH mRNA.RESULTS: During 7-28 d,the level of TG in fructose group was significantly and persistently high.During 14-28 d,the level of UA was higher. The level of GLU higher than that in control group was only observed at 28th day.The GAPDH activity change in blood and the expression in liver were significantly lower than that in norma1 during 7-28 d.Fenofibrate had the effect on reducing TG only at 7th day and reduced the level of GLU significantly at 28th day.Fenofibrate also increased the GAPDH activity in blood and the expression in liver at 7th day.CONCLUSION: ① The level of TG is significantly and persistently high in the early days by feeding with excessive fructose. The levels of UA and GLU are higher with the time cause of the model development.② The significantly higher level of TG,UA and GLU may be correlated with the reduction of the GAPDH activity in blood and the expression in liver.③ Fenofibrate has the effect of reducing the TG level only in the condition of hypertriglyceridemia, but not in the condition of accompanying hyperuricemia and hyperglycemia.④ The mechanism of reducing the TG level by fenofibrate may be correlated with the increase in GAPDH activity in blood and the expression in liver.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the biomechanical force distribution of three different cleft maxillary finite-element models pre- and post-bone graft with specified load to certain area of the models.
METHODSDeveloping a cleft palate bony model from a 15-year cleft palate male CT scan DICOM data and generating alveolar bone-grafted, alveolopalatal bone-grafted cleft maxillary finite-element model was set up through gluing the graft model. Also the pre-grafted model as compared, vector lip force on the anterior and anteriolateral face of the alveolar ridge was applied, and studied the press distribution properties and localized area.
RESULTSThe press principal spread along the alveolar ridge and focused on anterior wall of maxillary prior to graft. But the press tended to be evenly distributed after bone grafted, whether alveolar or/and hard palate bone grafted. The grafted bone could resisted the medially deformation of alveolar crest and decreased the shear press to the nasal base bony structure. The map showed no significant differences along with alveolar or/and hard palate bone graft.
CONCLUSIONThe postoperative lip pressure plays an important role for the deformation and deviation of alveolar ridge. Alveolar bone graft could even the distribution of the stresses and should be emphasized. But the grafted bony palatal appears superior to but no significant mapping and anti-deformation difference with alveolar bone graft.
