Objective To investigate the changes in gastric intramucosal pH (pHi) and the effect of propofol on microcirculatory perfusion after myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in rabbits. Methods Twenty healthy adult rabbits of both sexes, weighing 2.0-2.7kg were randomly divided into two groups: A control group (n=10) and B propofol group (n = 10) . The animals were anesthetized with 2% sodium pentothal iv. Anesthesia was maintained with intermittent iv boluses of fentanyl and vecuronium. The animals were tracheotomized and mechanically ventilated during fluid and propofol infusion. PaCO2 was maintained at 35-40 mm Hg. Right internal jugular vein was cannulated for fluid and propofol infusion. Left carotid artery was cannulated for BP and HR monitoring and blood sampling. TRIP tonometry catheter (14F) was placed in the stomach. Lactated Ringer's solution was infused at 6-8 ml-kg-1 h-1 during experiment. In group B propofol was infused at 5mg-kg-1-h-1 when BP and HR were stabilized for 10 min, chest was opened and heart exposed. Left anterior descending artery (LAD) was tied for 60 min and then released for reperfusion. Hemodynamics and pHi were measured before myocardial ischemia (T0) , 60 min after myocardial ischemia (T1), 60 min (T2), 90min (T3) and 180min (T4) after reperfusion was started. Results There was no significant difference in BP and HR from T0 to T4 between the two groups. pHi decreased significantly after myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in both groups. pHi was significantly lower at T3 in propofol group than that in control group (P

Objective The variation of serum thyroid hormones within the euthyroid range may be associated with insulin sensitivity. The study was to investigate whether the variation of thyroid hormones within the euthyroid range could influence insulin sensitivity in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods 200 elderly inpatients and outpatients with type 2 diabetes were collected from September 2013 to May 2014 in our hospital for T2DM group.150 normal controls with normal glucose metabolism were taken as the control group.Blood samples were collected after 75g oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT) on all the re-search objects.Questionaire survey, physical examination and related metabolic index test were also done on them .Chemilumines-cence method were applied to detect their insulin, thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH), FT3 and FT4. Results FT3 levels were significantly lower in T2DM group than in control group[(4.05 ±0.27 )pmol/L vs (4.61 ±0.5)pmol/L), P<0.05].TSH levels were significantly higher in T2DM group than in control group[(2.75 ±1.07) IU/mL vs (2.28 ±0.89) IU/mL, P<0.05], while there was no significant difference as to FT4 levels between these two groups. All subjects were divided into three groups according to the tertiles of FT3 level, Matsuda index of high FT3 level group were significantly higher in comparison to middle and low FT3 level groups, while there was no significant difference as to HOMA-IR in the three groups.FT3 levels were negatively correlated with HO-MA-IR and positively correlated with Matsuda index .After stepwise regression analysis, there was significant positive association be-tween FT3 and Matsuda index. Conclusion Thyroid hormone especially FT3 is significantly associated with insulin resistance .FT3 may participate in the development of type 2 diabetes, which pro-vides a new treatment for T2DM.

Objective To examine the method of least-square fitting for calibrating the palatal rugae boundary. Methods According to the distribution of the teeth, the feature points were selected; when they were fit, the boundary of the palatal rugae area was created, thereby constructing a mask. The mask was used to remove the part located outside the boundary and filter out the interference. Three samples were utilized for the ex-periments and analyses to come. Results To evaluate the quantitative results of the fitting curves, the correla-tion coefficients(r)of the samples and the relationship between the actual mean value and ideal mean value was obtained through six fitting processes. The differences between the actual mean and ideal mean were found to be significantly small (from 0.2857 to 2.5000) in the six fitting processes, with the range of r close to 1(from 0.9896 to 0.9995). Conclusion The effect of the cubic polynomial fitting method adopted in this study was stable. The proposed boundary calibration method can effectively locate the palatal rugae boundary and remove the interference area, further promoting the practice of forensic identification.

The present study was conducted to clarify the psychophysiological relaxation effects of viewing bamboo on university students. Forty healthy Chinese participants enrolled in this study to clarify the psychophysiological relaxation effects of viewing bamboo. The effects of visual stimulation using a pot both with and without a bamboo were recorded by measuring the student's blood pressure, EEG and STAI. We observed that viewing bamboo plants resulted in significantly lower systolic (female, P < 0.001; male, P < 0.001; P < 0.05) and diastolic (female, P < 0.001; male, P < 0.001; P < 0.05) blood pressures, but no changes in the pulse rate (female, P = 0.09; male, P = 0.07; P > 0.05) were observed. The results of the EEG analysis indicated brainwave variation (all P < 0.05) and lower anxiety scores (P < 0.01) after 3 min of viewing bamboo compared with the control. These findings indicate that visual stimulation with bamboo plants induced psychophysiological relaxation effects on adults.
