Ultrasonography (US) is extensively used in the diagnosis of prostate cancer; but with its disadvantages of poor sensitivity and specificity, frequently causes underdiagnosis, and over 50% of the results of transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided biopsy fail to accord with those of surgical pathology. In addition to contrast-enhanced ultrasound and real-time elastography, various new ultrasonic techniques have been developed nowadays, such as prostate histoscanning, brachytherapy template-guided 3-dimensional mapping biopsy (3DMB), and MRI/US fusion. Prostate histoscanning is an ultrasound-based technology that uses computer-aided analysis to identify and characterize the foci of prostate cancer. 3DMB, involving the whole gland, has an even higher accuracy. MRI/US fusion integrates the advantages of pre-interventional MRI with those of peri-interventional ultrasonography, and offers high-resolution images and convenient puncturing. Constant development of ultrasonography will continue to add to its clinical application value.

Objective To investigate the expression and role of Caspase-3 during the development of non-traumatic avascular/aseptic necrosis of femoral head(ANFH).Methods Tissue samples were obtained from 22 femoral heads of 21 patients with ANFH.The samples were divided into three groups:early stage(6 cases),middle stage(8 cases) and late stage(8 cases) groups according to the progress of the disease.Meanwhile,19 tissue samples of 19 femoral heads were obtained from 19 cases of acute femoral neck fracture and set as a control group.The level of apoptosis of each group was compared in terms of the percentages of TUNEL positive osteocytes and empty osteocyte lacuna,and then the activity of Caspase-3 was detected by colorimetric method.Results Both the pecentages of empty osteocyte lacunae(F=45.43,P=0.000) and the TUNEL positive osteocytes(F=120.86,P=0.000) increased significantly with the progress of ANFH.The two indexes in the early and middle stage groups were significantly higher than those in the control(q=18.899,P0.05).Caspase-3 activity was not significantly related to the capacity of osteogenesis(r=0.126,P=0.425).Conclusions Caspase-3 is not the major executor of apoptosis in ANFH.It is very likely that it does not play a nonapoptotic role in the progress of the diseases.

Objective To investigate the influence of Liuwei Dihuang pills on proliferation and differentiation of rat preadipocytes. Methods Rat preadipocytes were cultured, the influence of Liuwei Dihuang drug-containing serum on proliferation of rat preadipocytes was detected by MTT method, the influence of Liuwei Dihuang drug-containing serum on expression of GPDH was determined by enzyme tissue chemical method, the effect on lipid accumulation was determined by Oil Red O staining. Results Liuwei Dihuang drug-containing serum stimulated rat preadipocyte proliferation, inhibited GPDH up-regulation during differentiation, inhibited lipid accumulation in cell differentiation with the concentration below 10%. Conclusion Liuwei Dihuang pills stimulated rat preadipocyte proliferation, inhibited rat preadipocyte differentiation.

Objective: By analyzing the relationship between the meteorological factors and the outbreak of emergencies, an artificial neutral network model was established in order to make the medical-meteorological forecast and to reduce and prevent the emergencies. Methods: The data of emergency cases and meteorological factors within the same time in 2007 and 2008 in Ji'nan, China were collected and analyzed by using SAS9.0. The back-propagation (BP) artificial neutral network model was built by using Matlab7.0. Results: A close relationship exists between the meteorological factors as well as their changes and emergencies. The results of forecast show high accuracy rate of each emergency (76% ～ 89%) except CO poisoning (46%). Conclusions: This emergencies medical-meteorological forecasting model based on BP neutral network has good prediction effect and the value of further research.

Objective To study the analgesic effects of combination of fortanodyn and verapamil. Methods Used the model of the acetic acid induction writhing in mice and the method of hot-plate in mice, then observe the action of the mice after treatment with combination of fortanodyn and verapamil. Results Low dose Verapamil com-bined AP237 (40 mg/kg, 80 mg/kg)could enhance the threshold of pain of the mouse ache response obviously, and postponed the time which the mouse ache appeared (comparing using simply AP237 P <0.05 with controlled group P <0. 01) ;Low dose Verapamil combined AP237 (20 mg/kg,40 mg/kg) had the obvious inhibitory action in the body turning times of the mouse. Conclusion Verapamil can strengthen the analgesia function of AP237.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the drug resistance of pathogens in pediatric ICU and discuss how to treat infections caused by these resistant strains.METHODS After genus identification,bacterial susceptibility test was carried out using Kirby-Bauer disk method.RESULTS A total of 270 clinical isolates were analyzed including 194(72%) strains of Gram-negative bacilli and 76(28%) strains of Gram-positive cocci.From them 182(67%) strains were isolated from sputum,78(29%) strains from blood and 10(4%) strains from secretion.The most common bacilli were Klebsiella spp,coagulase negative Staphylococcus,Escherichia coli,Enterococcus spp and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.About 66.7% of E.coli and 91.1% of Klebsiella spp isolates produced ESBLs,the isolating rate of MRCNS was 83.9%.CONCLUSIONS The characteristics of pathogen distribution and drug resistance surveillance must be understood in order to use antibiotics rationally,to control the increasing trend of drug resistance pathogens and to forbid the break out of nosocomial infections.

Background The primary pathologic mechanism of posterior capsular opacification (PCO) is proliferation,migration and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of residuary lens epithelial cells (LECs) after cataract extract surgery.Researches showed that MG132,a proteasome inhibitor,can attenuate the proliferation of bovine LECs,but its effect on human LECs remains unclear.Objective This study was to investigate the inhibitory effect of MG132 on proliferation,migration and differentiation of human LECs in vitro.Methods Human lens capsule were collected during the surgery.Human LECs were primarily cultured by explant method and passaged.The second or third generation of cells were incubated to 96-well plates at the density of 5×105/ml (200 μl/well) for 24 hours.Fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2,10 mg/L),MG132 (10 μmol/L) or MG132+FGF-2 was added into the culture medium for 24 hours separately,and regular cultured cells served as the control group.The proliferation value (absorbance,A490) of the cells was assayed by MTT colorimetric method.A bare area was made by a sterile cotton swab in the cell layer,and migrated cell number in the blank zone was counted to evaluate the migration ability of the cells after 24 hours.Transforming growth factor-32(TGF-β2),MG132 or MG132+TGF-β2 was added into the culture medium for 24 hours separately,and the expression of fibronectin (FN) in the cells was detected using immunochemistry.Results The proliferation values (A490) of the cells were 0.582±0.020,0.723±0.010,0.434± 0.011 and 0.465±0.008 in the control group,FGF-2 group,MG132 group and MG132 + FGF-2 group,respectively,showing a significant difference among the groups (F =110.482,P＜0.01).The A value was significantly higher in the FGF-2 group and lower in the MG132 group and MG132+FGF-2 group than that of the control group (all at P＜ 0.05).The migrated cell number was 8.67 ± 1.08,11.58 ± 1.59,2.67 ± 0.09 and 2.75 ± 0.09 in the control group,FGF-2 group,MG132 group and MG132+FGF-2 group,respectively,with a significant difference among the groups (F=34.301,P＜0.01),and more cells in the blank zone were seen in the FGF-2 group and less cells were in the MG132 group and MG132+FGF-2 group in comparison with the control group (all at P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the proliferative rate and migrating rate of the cells declined by 25.4％ and 75.0％ in the MG132 group as well as 20.1％ and 68.3％ in the MG132+FGF-2 group,but in the FGF-2 group,they increased by 24.2％ and 33.6％.The expressing levels (A value) of FN in the LECs were 1.242±0.023,2.329±0.113,1.043 ±0.021 and 1.163±0.018 in the control group,TGF-β2 group,MG132 group and MG132 +TGF-β2 group,respectively,with a significant difference among the groups (F =113.752,P＜0.01),a considerably increased expressing value was seen in the TGF-β2 group and decreased value was in the MG132 group and MG132+TGF-β2 group when compared with the control group (all at P＜0.05).Conclusions MG132 can effectively inhibit the proliferation,migration and differentiation of human LECs in vitro.

AIM: To observe the clinical effect of the tonifying kidney pills with mingmuwuzi treating evaporative dry eyes.METHODS: This study adopted the positive drug control,prospective study,random number remainder grouping method to 65 cases of outpatient patients diagnosed with evaporative dry eyes which were divided into the treatment group 32 cases (64 eyes) and the control group 33 cases (66 eyes).The treatment group took the decoction of kidney pills with mingmuwuzi,combined with sodium hyaluronate eye drops.The control group simply use sodium hyaluronate eye drops,both group were set to 4wk for a course of treatment.To observe the symptoms and signs of two groups before and after the treatment,the change of the evaluation index and curative effect were evaluated.RESULTS: The effectiveness of the treatment group was 87.5%,the control group was 78.8%,the difference was statistically significant (z=-3.149,P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The treatment of the kidney pills with mingmuwuzi combined with sodium hyaluronate eye drops to evaporative dry eyes is more effective than the simple use of sodium hyaluronate eye drops.
