Objective To understand the environmental lead pollution level caused by a lead smeltery.Methods From the surrounding of the investigated factory,the farmland soil,sediment,water,ambient air,courtyard dust,waste and 7 kinds of crops were collected to determine the lead level.Results Respectively,the lead concentration was 3.1 mg/L in the agriculture irrigation water,exceeded the allowed limit by 30 times,was 0.07 mg/L in the pond water,exceeded the allowed limit by 0.4 time,was 1 101.5 mg/kg in the sediment of the pond,exceeded the allowed limit by 0.10 time,was 7 400.0 mg/kg in the river sediment,exceeded the allowed limit by 6.40 times,was 47.0-287.9 mg/kg in the farmland soil and within the 400 m bound around the lead smeltery,the average level in the soil was 195.0 mg/kg.Conclusion The lead smeltery has caused the lead environment pollution in degrees,it is the main source of lead pollution that caused high blood lead in some people living in that area.

BackgroundMonocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1)plays an important role in the tumor,inflammation,diabetic retinopathy and other neovascular disease,but the expression and the role of MCP-1 in the oxygen induced retinopathy(OIR) model have rarely been reported. Objective This study was to investigate the expression of MCP-1 in the retina development of newborn mouse and in mouse models with OIR.Methods C57BL/6J newborn mice were divided into two groups and 60 mice in each group.Mice in OIR group were exposed to 75％ oxygen for 5 days and then to room air.All mice in normal control group exposed to room air only.Ten mice in each group were randomly chosen and sacrificed at postnatal 5,7,12,14,17,21 days.The expression of MCP-1 in mouse retina was detected with the method of immunohistoehemistry and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results MCP-1 positive cells were seen in normal mouse retina.Up-regulation of MCP-1 positive cells was detected both in 12 days in normal control group and in 14 days in OIR group.MCP-1 mRNA was detected in mouse retina at 5 days,and a transient up-regulation of MCP-1 mRNA was observed in 12 days in normal control group.MCP-1 mRNA in OIR group significantly increased in 14 days in comparison with the normal control group( P =0.028,P =0.001 ). Conclusions Expression of MCP-1 is detectable in whole retinal development procession of mice.A transient up-regulation of MCP-1 expression is detected in the critical period of retinal vascular development in mice models with OIR,which is closely related to the retinal vascular development and progression of retinal new vessels.

Objective To detect cytokeratin in routine pathology negative regional lymph nodes postoperatively in non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). To investigate the relationship of lymph node micrometastasis in P-TNM stages NSCLC and survival rates. Methods From Jan. 1996 to Dec. 2003, 107 paraffin-embedded specimens of T1-T4N0-N1M0 NSCLC patients were collected. Anti-cytokeratin(CK) an- tibody AE1/AE3 was applied to detect cytokeratin with Envision~(TM) method in routine pathological negative re- gion lymph nodes in NSCLC, and selected negative control, positive control and blank control. The pulmo- nary hilar lymph node micrometastasis was upward regulated with stage pCK-N1, mediastinal lymph node mi- crometastatsis was upward regulated with stage pCK-N2. The result applied to SPSS11.0 software to process. Results The CK positive rate was 29.9% in all the patients. The CK positive rate was 27% (21/78), 30% (7/23), 67% (4/6)in stage p-Ⅰ, p-Ⅱand p-Ⅲ, respectively. All these data showed the tendency by which detectable rate increased and was accompanied by disease progress. Comparing the annual survival rate and median survival time of the non-micrometastasis group with the mierometastasis group in two groups, the survival rate difference was statistically significant. Comparing the annual survival rate and median sur- vival time in pCK-ⅢA stage with p-Ⅰ-Ⅱstage, pCK-ⅢA stage annual survival rate and median survival time was significantly different (P=0.020). Similarly, comparing the survival rate in pCK-ⅡB stage with p-ⅠB stage, pCK-ⅡB stage survival rate was significantly different(P=0.059). Comparing the survival time of pCK-ⅢA stage with p-Ⅲstage, pCK-ⅡB stage, with p-ⅡB stage, euther survival time difference was statistically significant (P=0.838, 0.518). Conclusions The rate of positive cytokeratin increase is ac- companied by the disease progress in NSCLC. Positive cytokeratin has disadvantagious prognosis. It is showed that pCK-N1 may be equal to p-N1 and pCK-N2 which also may be equal to p-N2. Micrometastasis may affect the UICC staging currently in use.

Purpose To investigate the activity of language network with brain function connection network analysis method using MRI order statistics correlation coefficient, and to explore the temporal reliability and functional asymmetry, and provide the theoretical foundation for clinical researches of resting-state language network.Materials and Methods Twenty-five healthy volunteers were scanned three times in resting state. All data were processed using 32 bit Matlab 7.11.0 and DPARSF. The two main language functional areas, Broca and Wernicke, were selected as the regions of interest. The functional connectivity of language network was analyzed with order statistics correlation coefficient.Results Based on the functional connectivity diagrams using seed analysis method, the asymmetry index and intra-class correlation were obtained. The functional connectivity of resting-state language network based on order statistics correlation coefficient was similar to that using the traditional correlation coefficient methods. Conclusion The temporal reliability of resting-state language network can provide a reference value for clinical research of language disorders, as well as the clinical diagnosis and treatment of the language disorders or mental diseases caused by abnormal functional asymmetry of language network.

Objective To study the effect of internal fixation of fibula on treatment of tibia and fibula unstable fractures. Methods 50 cases with middle and lower 1/3 fractures of tibia and fibula were treated with internal fixation of fibula and close reduction and external stabilization of tibia. Fibula was stabilized with plate and screw or intramedullary nail. Results All the 50 cases of the fracture achieved clinic union, reduction was satisfactory, and the average time of clinical union was 5 months. The functions of the joint were normal. No skin necrosis or infection occurred. Conclusion Fixation of fibula is suitable for treatment of close fracture combined with local skin injury or open fractures of tibia and fibula and lower 1/3 comminuted fracture of tibia combined with fibula fracture.

The Sertoli cell-rich or Sertoli-germ cell aggregates of 15-21 day immature rat testis were cultured in serum-free Ham F-12 medium for observation of the reorganization of the seminiferous tubules in vitro. The results showed that after first week of culture, the cell aggregates were spreaded on the bottom of culture dish as a monolayer consisted of Sertoli cells as well as spermatogenic cells. While after second week these monolayer cell cultures rearranged and transformed into cellular cords which connected each other to form a cellular rete. During this time, there were many small cells with long cytoplasmic processes appeared in the cultures. They looked like immature spermatozoon-like cells which were released from the cellular cords and floated in the medium, however no movement was detected. After third week, the cellular cords developed into a solid or tubule-like structures consisted of Sertoli cells and spermatogenie cells in different stages of spermatogenesis.These cultures have been studied by phase-microscopy in vitro, light and electron microscopy on semithin and ultrathin sections. These studies revealed that the Sertoli cells and Sertoli-germ cell aggregates of immature rat testis, in vitro, not only developed into monolayer cell culture as mentioned, but were also able to be further reconstructed, or reorganized, in some extent, to solid and tubule-like structures. The possible significance and mechanism were discussed.

Two cases of fibromatosis are presented. The lesion was biopsied and diagnosis was confirmed by histologic examination. Some reviews with literatures are supplemented.

ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between the changes of neuro-electrophysiology and prognosis in children with Guillain-Barr? syndrome(GBS).MethodsThirty-eight children with GBS were divided into group A(rapid recovery,n=16) and group B(slow recovery,n=22) according to the time required for podosoma motor function recovery,at the same time,they were divided into the better prognosis group(n=22) and the worse prognosis group(n=16),for analyzing the difference between group A and B in terms of age,preceding infections,maximal Hughes grades and neuro-electrophysiology including motor conduction velocity(MCV),distal complex muscle action potential(dCMAP) and F wave,and investigating the related factors with the prognosis of GBS.Results1.MCV of tibial nerve was(40.2?2.53) m/s and(33.4?2.46) m/s in group A and group B,respectively;MCV of peroneal nerve was(45.2?3.23) m/s and(38.3?2.16) m/s in group A and group B,respectively,and the difference between group A and group B was significant(Pa0.05);abnormal rate of F wave(68.42%) was higher than abnormal rate of MCV(42.11%) and dCMAP(42.11%)(Pa
