OBJECTIVETo analyze micromovement of distal tihiofihular joints in different motion range of ankle joint ,and define the micromovement characteristic and range of distal tibiofihular joints.
METHODSTwelve normal Chinese were chosen. There were 9 males and 3 females, aged from 19 to 37 years old with an average (26.5 +/- 0.5) years. Detection terminals of laser photographic scanner were installed near the highest point between medial malleolus and lateral malleolos, the change of detection terminals on the position of dorsiflex, extension, introversion and eversion of ankle joint were scanned by 3D-laser scanner. The displacement of two detection terminals on the X ,Y and Z-axis (X-axis stands for the vertical-axis between coronal plane and Z-axis Y-axis stands for the vertical-axis between sagittal plane and Z-axis Z-axis stands for macroaxis of tibia).
RESULTSAlong with increased range of motion on the position of dorsiflex ,extension, introversion and eversion of ankle joint, the range of micromovement of distal tibiofibolar joints increased too. The max-displacement of X, Y and Z were respectively (1.04 +/- 0.12) mm, (1.70 +/- 0.16) mm and--(0.87 +/- 0.10) mm.
CONCLUSION3D-laser scanner can be used to determine the detailed displacement of distal tibiofibolar joint on the X , Y and Z, and measure the motion of distal tibiofibular joint. The method can be used to study the pathologic change of distal tibiofibular joint ,and provide basic biomechnics data for internal fixtor fitting for the characteristic of distal tibiofibular joint.

OBJECTIVETo compare the difference of the clinical efficacy on common peroneal palsy between the comprehensive therapy of electroacupuncture, moxibustion and moving cupping method and western medication.
METHODSNinety cases of common peroneal nerve palsy were randomized into a comprehensive therapy group and a western medication group, 45 cases in each one. In the comprehensive therapy group, electroacupuncture was applied to Yanglingquan (GB 34), Zusanli (ST 36), Xuanzhong (GB 39), Jiexi (ST 41), Taichong (LR 3), Zulinqi (GB 41) and the others, combined with warm moxibustion and moving cupping on the lateral side of the affected leg. The comprehensive therapy was used once a day. In the western medication group, vitamin B1 , 10 mg each time, 3 times a day; and mecobalamine, 0. 5 mg each time, three times a day were prescribed for oral administration. In the two groups, 15 days made one session, and the efficacy was observed after 2 sessions treatment.
RESULTSThe total effective rate of the improvement of sensory function and motor nerve function was 97. 8% (44/45) in the comprehensive therapy group and was 82. 2% (37/ 45) in the western medication. The efficacy in the comprehensive therapy group was better than that of the western medication (P<0. 01). The electrophysiological examination showed that the amplitude of motor conduction of deep peroneal nerve and that of sensory conduction of surficial peroneal nerve after treatment were improved remarkably as compared with those before treatment in the comprehensive therapy group (both P<0. 05). The amplitude of motor conduction of deep peroneal nerve was improved significantly in the comprehensive therapy group as compared with that in the western medication group (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSIONThe comprehensive therapy of electroacupuncture, moxibustion and moving cupping method achieves the significant efficacy on common peroneal nerve palsy as compared with western medication.

Chinese Journal of Medical Ultrasound (Electronic Edition) 2013;(9):44-47
Objective To evaluate the relationship between carotid plaque neovascularization and coronary heart disease using contrast-enhanced ultrasound. Methods We studied carotid plaques in 312 patients with coronary artery disease by contrast-enhanced ultrasound [51 patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and 261 patients with stable coronary artery disease (sCAD) ]. We analyzed sonographic features of each plaque, including the enhancement intensity of plaque (A value), the ratio of plaque to carotid artery lumen in enhancement intensity (Ratio), plaque thickness and plaque echo (soft plaque, hard plaque, mixed plaque, calcified plaque). Results The average thickness of plaque in patients with ACS and in patients with sCAD had no significant difference in statistics [(2.6±0.4) mm vs (2.9±0.8) mm, t=-1.903, P=0.058) ]. The group with ACS:soft plaque 43 (84.3%, 43/51), mixed plaque 8 (15.7%,8/51), no hard plaque and calcified plaque. And the group with sCAD:soft plaque 174 (66.7%,174/261), hard plaque 19 (7.3%,19/261), mixed plaques 16 (6.1%,16/261), calcified plaque 52 (19.9%,52/261). The percentage of soft plaque in the acute coronary syndrome group was significantly higher than that in stable coronary artery disease group (χ2=6.274,P=0.012). The A value and Ratio in patients with ACS were prominently larger than those in patients with sCAD [ (11.3±3.2) vs (8.9±3.3) dB, t=7.150,P<0.01;0.6±0.2 vs 0.4±0.2, t=7.419,P<0.01].Conclusion Carotid artery plaque neovascularization density was significantly higher in patients with ACS than that in patients with sCAD by using contrast-enhanced ultrasound, revealing that the neovascularization density is closely related to clinical symptoms of patients with coronary heart disease.

Objective To investigate the relationship between CYP19 gene polymorphism and Alzheimer disease. Methods Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) was used to analyze the allele frequency distribution at the Mfe Ⅰ site of CYP19 gene in 102 patients with Alzheimer disease and 121 healthy control subjects. Results The frequencies of CYP19 ml and m2 alleles showed significant differences between the patient group and the control group (66.2% vs 81.0% and 33.8% vs 19.0%, respectively, X2=12.696, P<0.05). In patients with Alzheimer disease, the frequencies ofm1/m1, m1/m2, m2/m2 genotypes of CYP19 gene were 44.1%, 44.1%, and 11.8%, respectively, showing significant differences from the frequencies in the control subjects (65.3%, 31.4%, and 3.3%, respectively, X2=12.384, P<0.05). Conclusion CYP19 gene polymorphism at the Mfe Ⅰ site is associated with the genetic susceptibility to Alzheimer disease.

Background Our previous study demonstrated that curcumin can induce the apoptosis of retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells and herein inhibit the proliferation of RPE cells, and it is proved that the intravitreous injection of 0.1mg curcumin has less adverse effect to ocular tissue, inferring a good applicative prospect in clinic. Objective The goal of this experiment was to evaluate the effectiveness of curcumin on the prevention and treatment of experimental proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR). Methods PVR models were induced by injection of 0.1ml RPE cells (containing 2×106 cells) into vitreous cavity in 40 eyes of 20 healthy and mature New Zealand albino rabbits.0. 1ml curcumin(0. 1 mg) was then injected into lateral eye of each model rabbit immediately following the injection of RPE cells, and the equal volume of normal saline solution containing 0. 5‰ DMSO was injected into the fellow eye of each model rabbit as controls. On 1,3,7,14,21 and 28 days after injection, the changes of cornea, aqueous humor, lens, vitreous and fundus were examined and recorded by slit lamp biomicroscope, indirect ophthalmoscope, fundus color camera and B-type ultrasonograph to evaluate the inflammatory response. The incidence rate of retinal detachment was calculated and compared between curcumin group and control group. Results The inflammatory reaction in anterior chamber and misty opacity in vitreous were found from 1 day through 3 days after injection, but no obvious proliferative strap and retinal detachment in all of the experimental eyes. On the 7th day after injection, inflammatory reaction was extinct in the anterior chamber of rabbit eyes, and proliferative strap occurred in 14 eyes(75% ) in the control group but only 2 eyes (10% ) in curcumin group, showing significant difference between these two groups (P<0. 01). No retinal detachment was seen in both the two groups. On 14,21 and 28 days after injection, the incidence rate of retinal detachment was 55% ,80% ,95% respectively in control group and that of curcumin group was 10% ,15% ,15% respectively, presenting considerably differences between two groups (P<0. 01, P<0. 01 ,P<0. 01 ). Conclusion Injection of curcumin into vitreous cavity can effectively inhibit the occurrence and development of PVR in rabbit.

BACKGROUNDTourniquets used during total knee arthroplasty may lead to many complications. The aim of this study was to determine perioperative blood loss and its clinical relevance in total knee replacement surgery after applying a tourniquet.
METHODSFrom June 2009 to October 2009, 60 consecutive patients who underwent routine total knee arthroplasty were randomly divided into two groups and were treated with or without a tourniquet (30 patients/group). There were no significant differences in patient baseline characteristics between the two groups. We compared the two groups of patients in terms of intra- and postoperative bleeding, invisible or visible bleeding, and total blood loss.
RESULTSNone of the patients showed poor wound healing, lower extremity deep venous thrombosis or other complications. The amount of blood loss during surgery was lower in the tourniquet group than in the control group (P < 0.01). However, postoperative visible bleeding (P < 0.05) and occult bleeding (P < 0.05) were significantly greater in the tourniquet group than in the control group. There was no significant difference in the total amount of blood loss between the two groups (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSTourniquet can reduce bleeding during total knee replacement surgery, but is associated with greater visible and invisible blood loss.
