Objective To explore the imaging features of giant cell tumor of tendon sheath(GCTTS) so as to improve the accuracy of imaging diagnosis. Methods Thirty?nine cases of GCTTS confirmed by pathological examination were retrospectively analyzed.Of the 39 cases, 32 were diffuse form and 7 were localized form.Seventeen patients underwent X?ray examination,18 had CT pain examination,37 had pain MR imaging and 17 had contrast?enhanced MR imaging.Results X?ray showed local soft tissue masswith slightly high density, and the adjacent bones were shown destruction or erosion tovarious degrees(10/17). No obvious calcification and periosteal reaction were shown.CT scans could provide images better than X?ray films.CT showed local soft tissue masses in the peri?articular muscle gaps. Some tumors were lobulated with cross?jointed growth(8/18),and the adjacent bones were shown destruction or erosion tovarious degrees(11/18).No obvious calcification and periosteal reaction were shown. On MRI,most cases were isointense on T1WI(32/37),and hyperintense on T2WI(27/37). Most cases tended to be heterogeneously enhanced following Gd?DTPA administration(14/17).The lesions were typically located adjacent to a tendon or partially/completely encasing it. Conclusions The imaging findings of GCTTS have some certain characteristics. MRI is able to depict the characteristic internal signal of GCTT and its relationship with adjacent tissues, which is valuable for diagnosis, treatment and follow?up.

Objective To characterize the molecular changes and their significance in pathogenesis of esophageal squamous cell carcinomas from the elderly patients (≥60 years old) at high risk area of esophageal cancer in Linzhou, Henan Province. Methods Immunohistochemical method(ABC) and histopathological method were applied to examine the expressions of P53 and Rb proteins in esophageal squamous cell carcinomas and the relationship of the expressions with the lesions and age distribution was analyzed. Objective To determine if fetal stem cells can enter the maternal circulation during pregnancy and re-pair the injuries of maternal heart.Methods C57 female mice at the age of 6-8 weeks were randomly assigned to three groups:sham control, surgery without pregnancy, and surgery with pregnancy ( n=8,eath group) .The control sham group was developed by opening and closing of the chest.The other two groups underwent heart surgery.The myocardial infarc-tion ( MI) model was induced by ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery.Half of the surgical mice mated with e-GFP transgenic male mice, and another half group was not.Electrocardiogram ( ECG) and echocardiographic images were recorded at pre-operation, post-operation and postpartum.The collected data were used to evaluate the heart function. The GFP expression was detected by immunohistochemistry and q-PCR.Results When compared with the sham group, both the ischemia surgery groups with and without pregnancy, the ECG ST segment was significantly increased.This meas-urement indicated that the myocardial ischemia surgery was successful, and no significant difference in the ST segments be-tween two ischemia surgery groups was found.However, when ECG was measured in the surgical mice after postpartum, their myocardial ischemia was dramatically improved when compared with that of the ischemia surgery only mice.Echocar-diographic images also indicated that both the surgery groups had myocardial ischemia, however, no significant difference was observed in the pregnant mice before and after postpartum.The order of the cardiac function indexes from high to low was the sham group, surgery with pregnancy group, and surgery with no pregnancy group;in particular, the cardiac func-tion of pregnancy group was significantly enhanced compared with that of the surgery with no pregnancy group (P<0.05). More importantly, both immunofluorescence and q-PCR results showed that the embryonic stem cell translocation through circulation system with GFP expression in the heart of pregnancy group, while negative in other two groups.Conclusions Embryonic stem cells can be transferred into the maternal circulation of pregnant mice, and play a role in the repairing of their cardiac injuries.

Objective To evaluate the targeted antimicrobial prophylaxis in men undergoing trans-rectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy based on rectal swab culture results.Methods From July 2008 to April 2012 we studied differences in infectious complications in men who received targeted vs standard empirical ciprofloxacin prophylaxis before transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy.All 344 patients were divided into 3 groups according to their hospital records,inculding group A:without antimicrobial prophylaxis(105 eases) ;group B:antimicrobial prophylaxis with fluoroquinolone(117 cases) ;group C:targeted prophylaxis used rectal swab cultures results(122eases).All cases received enema with diluted iodophors before biopsy.We identified men with infectious complications within 7 days after transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy using the electronic medical record,following 3 conditions.Results In group A of 105 case,17 cases of fever were recorded,including prostatic abscess of 3 cases and septicemia of 1 case.Three cases of fever were occurred in group B,including 1 case of bacteremia and 1 case of prostatitis.No infectious complications were recorded in group C.Conclusions Targeted antimicrobial prophylaxis was associated with a notable decrease in the incidence of infections complications after transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy,although fiuoroquinolone can provide good protective effets.

Objective To establish the canine model of esophageal variees caused by portal hyper-tension. Methods The model was established in 12 dogs with a side-to-side portacaval shunt, an ameroid constrictor around the portal vein and double ligation and cross suture of the cephalic part of the inferior vena cava (IVC), and the development of esophageal varices was confirmed 6 weeks later by endoscopy and portal vein angiography. Results The mean pre- and postoperative portal pressure were (11.0 ± 1.1) mm Hg and (22. 9 ± 1.2) nun Hg, respectively (P =0. 010). Endoscopy detected mild to moderate esophageal varices in all dogs, which was confirmed by portal vein angiography, and varices was also seen in abdominal wall. Conclusion Canine model of esophageal varices induced by portal hypertension can be established with the procedure.

Background Researches have demonstrated that ocular hypertension induces the ischemia-reperfusion of retina and further leads to the degeneration of retinal ganglion cells,but its mechanism is beyond understanding.Objective The present study aims to observe the effects of static pressure on the morphology,proliferation activity and viability of cultured retinal microvascular endothelial cells (RMECs) and evaluate the expression of ET-1 and NO in these cells under variant static pressure.Methods RMECs were isolated from 30 healthy Wistar rats and cultured using explant culture method by Ⅷ factor antibody and PECAM-1 antibody.The static pressure of 1.33kPa,2.67kPa,5.33kPa and 10.67kPa was used in culture bottle respectively.The RMECs without static pressure were used as normal control group.The morphology of RMECs under the different static pressure was observed by inverted phase contrast microscopy,and the number of RMECs was counted using the counting plate.Cellular viability was studied by trypan blue staining.The changes of ET-1 and NO_2~-/NO_3~-,two metabolic products of NO,in the medium were detected by radioimmunoassay and Griess's nitrate reductase method.The expression of ET-1,eNOS and iNOS mRNA in RMECs was analyzed by semi-quantitative RT-PCR 24 hours after treatment of variant static pressure.Results Cultured RMECs sticked well at 24 hours and reached to confluence at 48 hours and showed the red fluorescence for Ⅷ factor antibody and PECAM-1 antibody.Enlargement of nuclei,extenders of cell bodies and suspension of RMECs in medium were observed.The number of RMECs was gradually increased.The cell viability was reduced with the raise of static pressure among these four groups(F=12.205,P＜0.01;F=11.180,P＜0.01).The static pressure increased the content of ET-1 released by RMECs in 2.67kPa,5.33kPa and 10.67kPa of static pressure groups,and concentrations of NO_2~-/NO_3~- in the medium showed a significant increase in 5.33kPa and 10.67kPa of static pressure groups compared with normal and 1.33kPa of static pressure groups(P＜0.01).The expressions of ET-1 mRNA,eNOS mRNA and iNOS mRNA were considerably enhanced in 5.33kPa and 10.67kPa of static pressure groups compared with normal control group(P＜0.01).Conclusion Raised static pressure causes the alteration of RMGCs structure and morphology.Static pressure could upregulate the expressions of ET-1,eNOS and iNOS mRNA in RMECs and increase the release of ET-1 and NO.This pathway might be one of pathologic mechanisms of retinal injury induced by high intraocular pressure.

OJECTIVETo explore whether different acupuncture signals were afferent to the cerebellar fastigial nucleus (FN) neuron and to find out their corresponding effect features through observing the effect of spontaneous discharge of cerebellar FN neuron by needling at different acupoints.

METHODSTotally 120 male SD rats were anesthetized by 20% urethane and their right cerebellar FN were positioned (AP 11. 6 mm, RL 1. 0 mm, H 5. 6 mm). Extracelluar discharge was recorded by glass microelectrode (AP: -11. 6 mm, R: 1. 0 mm, H: 5.7 -7. 0 mm), using extracellular microelectrode recording method, recording the spontaneous discharge of cerebellar FN neurons as a baseline. Random order of needling at zusanli (ST36), quchi (Lil1), weishu (BL21), and zhongwan (CV12) were compared with the baseline before each acupuncture. Their effects on the discharge of cerebellar FN neurons were observed and compared with baselines.

RESULTSThe frequency of FN neuronal discharge could be elevated by needling at zusanli (ST36), quchi (LiI), weishu (BL21), and zhongwan (CV12) (P <0. 01, P <0. 05). The response rate of needling at Zhongwan (CV12, 56. 00%) was higher than that of needling at Zusanli (ST36), Quchi (Ll1), and Weishu (BL21) (35. 00%, 34. 62%, 36. 63%, respectively) with statistical difference (P <0. 05). The response rate of needling at zhongwan (CV12) was obviously higher than that of needing at other points (F = 2. 101, P < 0. 05).

CONCLUSIONSNeedling at zusanli (ST36 ), quchi (Lil), weishu (BL21), and zhongwan (CV12) could elevate the spontaneous discharge frequency of cerebellar FN neurons. Needling at Zhongwan (CV12) had advantageous roles in regulating cerebellar FN.

Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system that is characterized by inflammatory demyelinating lesions and axonal degeneration in optic nerve and spinal cord. It has high relapse rate and high disability rate. In recent years, as the studies on mechanisms of NMOSD, related immune therapy strategies have been developed rapidly. These immunologic interventions are collectively called the disease modifying therapy, which are helpful in improving the course and outcome of the disease. In this review, the latest treatment progress in NMOSD is summarized to guide clinical choice and application of the medication.
