Objective Genecology is making great progress in the 21th Century. At the same acupuncture will play and inportant role in the postgenome thmes. So it is considered that acupuncture mechanism have certain experence to draw on modern genetic theories and techniques, especially in crucial functional gene control. And the opinion ablut establishing acupuncture and geneti expression pedigree database is brorght up.

To make objective evaluation on treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation with electric acupuncture. Method: All 200 cases were randomly allocated into an observation group (100 cases) and a control group (100 cases). Cases in the observation group were treated with electric acupuncture. Cases in the control group were treated with oral administration of Mobic. Result: The total effective rate in the observation group was 86.5%,and the total effective rate of the control group was 75.0%. There was a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.01). Conclusion: Electric acupuncture is a safe and remarkably effective way for lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.

Purpose: To investigate the efficacy ofmassotherapy plus warming acupuncture for treatment of patellar malacia. Methods: Seventy-two patients with patellar malacia were randomly divided into observation and control groups, treated by massotherapy plus warming acupuncture and simple medication, respectively. Results: The effective rate was 83.3% in the observation group and 56.7% in the control group. There was a significant difference in curative effect between the two groups (P<0.01). Conclusion: The curative effect of massotherapy plus warming acupuncture on patellar malacia is superior to that of simple medication.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2008;6(2):87-89
Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of point injection in treating lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion. Methods:One hundred and fifty-six patients with lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion were randomly allocated to an observation group of 80 cases (mecobalamin injection)and a control group of76 cases(vitamin B12 injection).Injection at Jiaji (Ex-B 2)points corresponding to the spinal segments of the pressed nerve roots was performed. Results:The efficacy rate Was 86.3% in the observation group and 78.9% in the control group. There was a statistically significant difference in curative effect between the two groups (P<0.01).Conclusion:The results indicate that the clinical curative effect of acupoint injection of mecobalamin is significantly better than that of point injection of vitamin B12 in treating lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2014;(6):383-388
Objective: To observe the efficacy of tuina manipulations for fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS).
Methods:Sixty eligible FMS patients were randomized into two groups, 30 in each group. Patients in the observation group were intervened by tuina manipulations to the corresponding segment of the spine based on the detection of disorders of the spine-related bones and tendons;patients in the control group were directed to practice functional exercises. Before and after intervention, the fibromyalgia impact questionnaire (FIQ) and visual analogue scale (VAS) were adopted for evaluation.
Results:After intervention, the FIQ and VAS scores dropped significantly in both groups (all P<0.05), and there were significant differences between the two groups (both P<0.05). The total effective rate was 86.7%in the observation group versus 63.3% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).
Conclusion:Spinal tuina manipulations are effective and safe in treating FMS, for significantly promoting the quality of life of the FMS patients.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2004;2(4):56-59
Objective: To assess the clinical efficacy of single acupoint in the treatment of acute lumbar sprain. Methods: According to the same diagnostic standard, the randomized controlled trial was conducted in several clinical centers. All 320 subjects were digitally randomized into observation group in which Houxi (SI 3) was needled and control group in which Yaotongdian (Ex-UE 7) was needled. The pain severity was scored respectively by the doctors and patients. Results: After 2-course treatment, the short-term effective rates were 89.4% and 82.5% in observation group and control group, and the long-term effective rates were 95.6% and 93.5% respectively. Ridit analysis showed a difference in the short-term effects (P<0.05) and no difference in the long-term effects (P>0.05). Conclusion: Single acupoint is quite effective for acute lumbar sprain, with better effects of Houxi (SI 3) than Yaotongdian (Ex-UE 7).

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2004;2(2):58-60
Recurrent low back pain and reflex sciatica of lower limbs are the two leading symptoms of prolapsed lumbar intervertebral disc, which can be confirmed in the history, symptoms, signs and imaging examination such as CT scan and MRI. It should be differentiated from those conditions characterized by lumbago and/or possible sciatica. Tuina was performed mostly on the Bladder Meridian,Gallbladder Meridian and Governor Vessel, as well as their acupoints such as Jiaji (Ex-B 2) points,Shenshu (BL 23), Dachangshu (BL 25), Yaoyangguan (GV 3), Huantiao (GB 30), Weizhong (BL 40),Chengshan (BL 57), Yanglingquan (GB 34) and Ashi points. Thumb-massaging manipulation, rolling manipulation, pulling manipulation, pressing manipulation, kneading manipulation and grasping manipulation are often performed.

Combined use of acupuncture and drug is extensively applied for its wide indications, simple manipulation and good results.Combined use of acupuncture and drug is not in effect the mechanic addition of acupuncture and drugs. It has been proved that acupuncture and drug are of synergism, but there may be an antagonism between acupuncture and drug. How to choose the optimum acupoint in the combination of acupuncture and drug to exert better effects is of great theoretical and practical significance for acupuncturists to make further researches.

Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2014;(4):225-229
Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of acupoint injection at Neiguan (PC 6) plus acupuncture in treating insomnia due to heart-kidney disharmony.
Methods: A hundred patients with insomnia due to heart-kidney disharmony were randomized into an observation group and a control group. Fifty-three cases in the observation group were intervened by acupoint injection at Neiguan (PC 6) plus acupuncture; while 54 cases in the control group were intervened by acupuncture alone. The Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) was evaluated before and after intervention, and the therapeutic efficacies of the two groups were compared.
Results: Acupoint injection at Neiguan (PC 6) plus acupuncture produced significantly higher efficacies in improving sleep quality, shortening sleep latency, and enhancing sleep efficiency than acupuncture alone (P<0.05).
Conclusion: The two groups both can improve the condition of insomnia; acupoint injection at Neiguan (PC 6) has significant advantages, manifested by a higher therapeutic efficacy for insomnia due to heart-kidney disharmony, higher safety evaluation, efficiency, and less adverse events, thus proper for clinical application.
