Objective To approach the effective treatment for simple bone cyst in adult. Methods Forty-eight cases were divided into two groups by visiting order, 20 cases (steroid group) were treated by prednisolone acetate and 28 cases (open resection and allograft group) were treated by open resection and allograft. The curative effect were contrasted between two groups. Results The follow-up time was 5-46(26.58 ± 10.81) months. Aecording to the Chigira's healing criteria for simple bone cyst, grade Ⅰ , Ⅱ , Ⅲ,V were 1, 2, 10 and 7 cases respectively in steroid group, contrasting to 0, 3, 5 and 20 cases respectively in open resection and allograft group. The recovery rate was 85.0%(17/20) in steroid group and 89.3%(25/28) in open resection and allograft group, which was no statistically significant difference between two groups (P＞0.05). Conclusions Although the two remedies are no obvious difference in curative effect,simple bone cyst at lower extremity of weight-bearing with obvious osteolysis in adult is recommended to open resection and allograft, otherwise or at upper extremity to steroid injection.

【Objective】To explore a method for the establishment of animal model of coronary heart disease(CHD) with the blending of phlegm and blood stasis.【Methods】Methods of TCM-WM combination(traditional Chinese medicine integrated with western medicine) and disease-syndrome combination were used to establish a model.The model was evaluated by the changes of symptoms,signs and laboratory indexes and by the effect of blood-stasis-removing and phlegm-resolving herbs on the model.Sixty Wistar rats were randomized into normal group,model group,low-dose herbal medicine group and high-dose herbal medicine group.The normal group was fed with routine forage and normal saline,and the other three groups with high-fat forage and fat milk(10mL?kg~(-1)?d~(-1)).Low-and high-dose herbal medicine groups were given Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction combined with Gualou Xiebai Banxia Decoction in the dosages of 12 and 24 10g?kg~(-1)?d~(-1)respectively by gastric gavage,and the model group given the same volume of normal saline for 7 consecutive weeks.Coronary artery ligation was performed in the 35~(th) day.The changes of electrocardiogram(ECG) were observed before and after the modeling,and blood lipid,myocardial enzymes and hemorrheological parameters were determined.The heart weight was examined to calculate heart index.【Results】ECG in the model group indicated severe myocardial ischemia,which may be relieved by herbal medicine.Serum contents of cholesteril,tryglyceride and creatine kinase(CK),whole blood viscosity,hematocrit and heart index were obviously increased in the model group,while the above indexes decreased to different degrees in herbal medicine groups (P

Objective To investigate the liver protective effects of Siphonostegia chinensis decoction in rats with liver fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride(CCl4).Methods A total of 120 male SD rats were randomly divided into six groups: a blank control group, a model group, a Siphonostegia chinensis decoction group, a Salvia miltiorrhiza decoction group, a Rhizoma polygoni cuspidati decoction group and a polyene phosphatidylcholine capsules group, with 20 rats in each group. The model of liver fibrosis in rats was induced by subcutaneous injection with CCl4, except the blank group. Except rats in the blank control group and the model group, the rats in the other four groups were treated with Siphonostegia chinensis decoction, Salvia miltiorrhiza decoction, Rhizoma polygoni cuspidati decoction and polyene phosphatidylcholine capsules(10 ml/kg). The serum level of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)was determined with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, the fibrosis stage assessment were determined by histopathological examination.Results Compared with the model group, Siphonostegia chinensis decoction group significantly reduced the stage of liver fibrosis(P<0.01)and there were no obvious difference in liver fibrosis stage among the Salvia miltiorrhiza decoction group, Rhizoma polygoni cuspidati decoction group and polyene phosphatidylcholine capsules group, and the Siphonostegia chinensis decoction group(allP>0.05).Compared with liver fibrosis model group(368.06±24.90)U/L, the serum level of TNF-α in the Siphonostegia chinensis decoction group(336.61± 20.20)U/L significantly reduced(P<0.01), and there were no obvious difference among the Siphonostegia chinensis decoction group, the Salvia miltiorrhiza decoction group(337.81±21.04)U/L, the Rhizoma polygoni cuspidati decoction group(338.95±24.43)U/L and the polyene phosphatidylcholine capsules group(337.11± 23.64) U/L(allP>0.05).Conclusion Siphonostegia chinensis decoction has certain liver protective effect in rats with liver fibrosis induced by CCl4.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the feasibility and initial outcome of reconstructing the defect femur by unicondylar osteoarticular altograft after resection of distal femur tumor.METHODS:Between July 2003 and August 2008,a total of 12 patients with distal femur tumor treated by unicondylar resection and fresh-frozen unicondylar osteoarticular allograft reconstruction of bone defects were retrospectively reviewed at the Department of Orthopedics,General Hospital of Chinese PLA.Of 12 patients,5 medial and 7 lateral femoral condyles were involved.There are 8 patients suffering from giant cell tumor,including 2 patients complicating with pathologic fracture,3patients suffering from osteosamoma and 1 patient suffering from low-grade fibrosarcoma.Before transplantation,MRI and/or CT were used to determine that the tumor was definitely limited in half condyle.Three cycles of chemotherapy preoperatively and six cycles of chemotherapy postoperatively were conducted in patients suffering from osteosarcoma and fibrosarcoma.Patients with giant cell tumor did not receive any intraoperative adjuvant treatment.The surgical margin of resected tumors was evaluated by histological examination.All patients were followed by radiograph or CT.Postoperative function was evaluated by Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS) scoring system at the time of the latest follow-up.RESULTS:All patients were followed up.The patients were followed up mean 35 months after transplantation.None of the patient died.No local recurrences and metastases were found at the latest follow-up.No evident immune rejection and deep infection were seen.No plate loosening or breakage was observed.All patients had their grafts retained at the time of the latest follow-up.Three patient's allograft showed subchondral bone collapse and articular deterioration,but the function was good.Instability of the knee joint was noted in 3 patients.The mean MSTS functional score (totally 30 points) was 26 points.CONCLUSION:For some patients with giant cell tumor or malignant tumors with clearly defined margins after chemotherapy.When the lesions were limited in half condyle and enough surgical margins can be achieved,reconstruction of bone defect with unicondylar osteoarticular allografts after bone tumors were resected appears to be a reliable alternative.

Objective To determine whether there was any correlation between the degree of degenerative changes in the patellar cartilage and the clinical outcome after TKA without patellar resurfacing.Methods A clinical study was performed on 133 knees of 88 patients that underwent TKA without patellar resurfacing from January 2002 to May 2006. According to the degenerative condition of the patellar cartilage,patients was classified as mild group, moderate group, and severe group. Pre- and post-operative evaluations were performed using the knee and function scores of the Knee Society Clinical Rating System (KSS) and Anterior Knee Pain Rating. Results The duration of follow-up was 72 months (range 48-102). The overall knee score of KSS in all patients were improved from 35.1±5.4 preoperatively to 91.7±5.6 postoperatively,and function score of KSS from 19.2±9.8 preoperatively to 83.7±17.5 postoperatively. The mean knee scores of KSS were improved from 34.7±6.2, 36.5±5.2 and 35.3±6.2 preoperatively to 92.6±4.5, 90.5±6.7 and 91.9±5.9 in mild, moderate, and severe group postoperatively, respectively. The mean function scores of KSS were improved from 14.2±8.6, 16.5±7.4 and 17.0±7.5 postoperatively to 86.6±12.6, 82.0±17.2 and 82.8±21.1 in mild, moderate, and severe group postoperatively, respectively. There was no difference among all groups with regard to the postoperative knee scores and function scores of KSS. The prevalence of anterior knee pain was 11.3% in all, and 11.9% in mild group, 11.6% in moderate group and 10.4% in severe group. There was no difference among all groups with regard to the anterior knee pain. Conclusion The clinical outcome and anterior knee pain after TKA without patellar resurfacing was not correlated with the severity of degenerative changes in the patellar cartilage. The degree of degenerative condition of the patellar cartilage is not indication for patellar resurfacing.

Objective To investigate the efficacy of recombinant human erythropoietin(rhEPO)in preventing and reversing dys- function of retinal neurons in streptozotocin(STZ)-induced diabetes in rats.Design Experimental study.Participants The early stage of diabetic rats.Method Two weeks after STZ(60 mg/kg,i.p.),diabetic rats were administered rhEPO(5000IU/kg)injection three times weekly for 2 weeks.Retinal samples of STZ-induced diabetic rats with or without rhEPO and controls were prepared for ultrathin sec- tions and subsequently photography by transmission electron microscope.Also the content of glutamate in retina of the rats was detected with high-performance liquid chromatography.Main Outcome Measures The ultrastructure of rat retinas and the content of retinal glutamate.Results Mitochondrial metamorphosis in ganglion cells occurred in STZ-induced diabetic rats without rhEPO.Obvious mito- chondrial metamorphosis couldn′t be found in STZ-induced diabetic rats with rhEPO treatment.Retinal glutamate at the end of the 4th week of STZ-induced diabetic rats had increased obviously comparing with the normal rats(P

Objective To evaluate the perioperative nursing and its efficacy in the blepharocoloboma reconstruction with island flap of frontal branch of superficial temporal artery. Methods A retrospective nursing experience was summarized in 5 patients undergoing blepharocoloboma reconstruction with island flap of frontal branch of superficial temporal artery. We paid attention to the mental nursing of patients besides the routine nursing.The growth of skin flap was scrupulously oberved and gave selective disposal when untoward problems occurred. Results The skin flap survived in four cases and epidermis necrosis with flap basis survive took place in one case.The color and quality of survived skin flap was similar to adjacent skin which could effectively protect eyeballs.No severe complications occurred. Conclusions Effective mental nursing and health instruction before operation and careful observation and nursing of skin flap after operation proved to be pivotal for successful operation.

The article searched ancient literature from pre-Qin to Qing Dynasty,researched the character meaning,implication of physique and spirit,and the historical evolvement process of view of physique-spirit unity(ghost theory-sporadic physique and spirit theory-systemic view of physique-spirit unity-view of physique-spirit unity combined with Chinese medicine)so that the view of physique and spirit can be applied to medical domain preferably,which will help the clinic diagnosis and treatment.

Aim To investigate the effect of simvastatin ( Sim ) on endogenous antioxidant system after acute myocardial infarction ( AMI ) and its potential mecha-nisms. Methods The acute myocardial infarction ( AMI ) rat models were made by ligation left anterior descending of coronary artery. Then the successful models were randomly divided into myocardial infarc-tion group ( MI group) and simvastatin group ( Sim,20 mg·kg-1·d-1), another group without ligation left anterior descending of coronary artery served as sham group(Sham group). The Sim group was administered simvastatin by gavage for 7 days. MI group and Sham group received saline. Hemodynamic parameters, lipid levels, troponinI ( c-TnI ) and lactate dehydrogenase ( LDH) concentrations were examined after 7days, and the levels of superoxide dismutase ( SOD) and glutathi-one peroxidase ( GP) of myocardial antioxidant system were detected by ELISA. The expression of cardiac p-Akt and p-eNOS protein were detected by Western blot. Results Acute myocardial infarction significant-ly lowered cardiac hemodynamic parameters, increased serum c-TnI and LDH levels, lowered levels of SOD and GP, and lowered the expression of p-Akt and p-eNOS protein. However, Sim could effectively prevent the deterioration of cardiac function, reduce serum c-TnI and LDH levels, increase levels of SOD and GP, and increase p-Akt and p-eNOS protein expression. Conclusion Early using Sim can effectively improve heart function after acute myocardial infarction, acti-vate myocardial antioxidant system,and reduce myocar-dial necrosis, which may be related to increasing the expression of p-Akt and p-eNOS.
