Objective To explore the effect of Tuina combined with Traditional Chinese exercise (TCE) on nonspecific chronic neck pain (NCNP). Methods 80 eligible patients were recruited in our hospital from October, 2014 to October, 2015. They were randomized to observation group (n=40) and control group (n=40). The observation group received Tuina combined with TCE, and the control group re-ceived intermittent cervical traction, 5 times a week for 2 weeks. They were assessed with Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and Neck Disability Index (NDI) before, immediately after intervention, and at 1 month follow-up. Results 77 patients completed the treatment and follow-up. The scores of VAS and NDI significantly decreased after a 2-week intervention (t>9.330, P<0.001) in both groups. The VAS score were sig-nificantly lower in the observation group than in the control group immediately after intervention and at 1-month follow-up (F>8.338, P<0.01). The NDI score was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group at 1-month follow-up (F=9.053, P=0.004). Conclusion Tuina combined with TCE could relieve pain and improve cervical function in patients with NCNP, which was superior to inter-mittent cervical traction.

Objective To observe the correlation of brain functional reorganization and motor functional restoration with application of single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and regional cerebral blood flow ( rCBF) in modified constraint-induced movement therapy ( mCIMT) in cerebral infarction patients with hemiplegia. Methods Twelve patients with cerebral infarction with hemiplegia (7 males and 5 females, aged 62-75 ( 67.9 ± 6.5) years) were treated with mCIMT for eight weeks. No movement restriction was applied to the limbs at the intact sides. The affected sides exercised 4 h per day with 1 h on the upper limbs and 3 h on the lower limbs. At the same time, semi-quantitative analysis method of analyzing SPECT and rCBF was used to record changes in brain.Simple test for evaluating hand function (STEF), 10 m maximum walking speed ( MWS) , rCBF changes in the cerebral cortex ischemic lesion were respectively assessed in the pretreatment and post-treatment.Results After the treatment, STEF score of affected sides was 76.33 ± 17.13(t = -6.09) ; STEF score of intact was 86.25 ± 16.84(t = -5.86) ;The score of MWS was 6.78 ± 3.72 (t = 4.88); Ischemic score of radioactive counts was - 10.12 ± 7.25 (t = 5.33), improved from pre-treatment and the difference was statistically significant (all P < 0.05 ) .Conclusions mCIMT markedly improved motor function in senile cerebral infarction patients with hemiplegia as shown on SPECT.It showed that this improvement is associated with changes in brain plasticity, suggesting that improved motor function may be related to the redistribution of regional cerebral blood flow in the cerebral cortex.

A method was developed for determination of thirteen amines including seven aliphatic amines, two heterocyclic amines and four aromatic amines in atmospheric particulate matter (PM) by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Samples were ultrasonically extracted with ultra-pure water and derivatized with benzenesulfonyl chloride (BSC) under alkaline conditions. The derivatives were extracted with dichloromethane and then detected by GC-MS using DB-5MS chromatographic column. The method detection limit (S/N=3) and quantitation limit (S/N=10) were 0.00008-0.017 μg/mL and 0.00026-0.0565 μg/mL respectively, and the correlation coefficients were 0.9903-0.9996, which indicated that the standard curve had good linear correlation. In addition, the relative standard deviation was less than 30% and the average recovery was 54.4%-159.7% except for methylamine and benzylamine at spiked level of 1.0 μg/mL, showing high precision and accuracy. 9 kinds of amines were detected in the PM2.5 samples collected in Guangzhou city by this method, among which dimethylamine and butylamine accounted for 90% of the total nine amines, which indicated that they were primary amines in PM2.5; while propylamine exhibited the lowest level in PM2.5 with the concentration less than 1.0 ng/m3.

Chinese Journal of Neurology 2000;0(04):-
Objective To analysis the clinical manifestations of mtDNA A3243G mutation in adulthood. Methods The clinical features were investigated in 36 cases (28 patients from 5 families with the mutation and 8 sporadic cases),in whom mtDNA A3243G mutation was confirmed genetically in 23 cases (15 cases from 5 mutation families and 8 sporadic cases).Cranium radiology was performed in 14 cases.Muscal biopsies were performed in l0 cases. Results Among 28 cases in the 5 family, there were 9 cases (32.1%) with stroke like episodes,17 cases (60.7%) with diabetic mellitus and 16 cases (57.1%) with deafness.Such symptoms usually combined with each other and rarely existed alone. Cardiomyopathy and renal failure were uncommon. In the 23 cases with mtDNA A3243G mutation,14 cases (61.0%) had mitochondria] myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke-like episodes (MELAS),mostly presenting cognitive abnormalities, dysarthria or aphasia and headache,3 cases (13.0%) were asymptomatic carriers,2 cases (8.7%) had autonomic dysfunction,2 cases (8.7%) had diabetic mellitus with or without nerve deafness,1 case (4.3%) had diabetic mellitus with infertilitas and cardiomyopathy, respectively.Cranial radiological images revealed the changes more commonly in the temporal and occipital lobes and less frequently in the frontal lobes.Ragged red fibers were confirmed in 9 of 10 cases with muscle biopsies. The proportion of mutant mtDNA A3243C was not significantly different between MEALS (28.75%?13.69%) and non-MELAS (25.08%?11.54%).Conclusions mtDNA A3243G mutation mainly results in the lesions in the central nerve system, pancreatic island and acoustic nerve in adulthood.Heart and kidney are less frequently involved.Cognitive abnormalities, aphasia and headache are the major symptoms of adult MELAS.Families have with more than 1 patient with diabetic mellitus and deafness, indicating that the mutation is other than MELAS mutation. We should pay more attention to the non-MELAS symptoms in the families with mtDNA A3243G mutation.

Objective To observe the influences of modified constraint-induced movement therapy (mCIMT)on lower-extremity walking ability and femoral artery blood flow among elderly patients with stroke. Methods Totally 67 patients with stroke were randomly divided into mCIMT group(n =35) aged ( 73.2 ± 5.2 ) years and neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) group ( n =32) as control aged(76.4 ± 3.8) years.Patients in control group exercised by NDT 2 h/time,2 times/d,5 d/week for 6 weeks. Patients in mCIMT group exercised including: up and down exercise,100-120 times/d; movement flatbed exercise for 16-20 min/d; upstairs and downstairs exercise, balance training, standing in a single leg exercise, mandatory exercise time of lower-extremity about 4 h/d,5 d/week for 6 weeks. The patients were assessed for lower-extremities motor function using maximum walking speed (MWS),Berg balance scale (BBS),timed up to go test (TUGT) and Fugl-Meyer(FMA-L) at pre-treatment and post-treatment.The change of femoral artery blood flow velocity and lumen diameter on the affected lower limb were observed by color Doppler. Results There were no differences in the above scores, lumen diameter and blood flow velocity before treatment between the two groups (P> 0.05).After treatment, the scores of MWS (56.68 ± 6.57vs.45.61 ± 5.34),BBS(46.84 ± 4.05vs.29.84 ± 4.05),TUGT ( 14.55 ± 8.25vs.25.35 ± 8.70)were higher in mCIMT group than in NDT control group (t=15.09,17.38,15.25,all P=0.001)while no difference in FMA-L score between the two groups was found (35.24 ± 7.62 vs.31.32 ±3.28,t=19.99,P>0.05).Lumen diameter of femoral artery [(9.05±1.15) mm vs.(8.05±0.68)mm,t=6.72,P=0.001] and blood flow velocity[(92.55±18.25)cm/s vs.(69.35 8.7)cm/s,t=6.83,P=0.001] were increased in mCIMT group as compared with NDT group. Conclusions The mCIMT therapy is better in improving the lower-extremity walking function and blood flow velocity of femoral artery.

The etiology of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is still not elucidated nowadays. Based on the accordance between DVT incidence and the anemophilous pollen concentration in the air, we proposed the hypothesis that allergic reaction induced by anemophilous pollen may cause "idiopathic" DVT, and proinflammatory factors may play an important role in the thrombosis process.
