Objective To test whether murine bone marrow-derived stem cells (BMSCs) can contribute to the regeneration of renal tubular epithelial cells after ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. Methods The female mice with bilateral I/R injured kidney received transplantation of bone marrow mononuclear cells isolated from homologous male mice via the tail vein after sublethal irradiation. After bone marrow transplantation (BMT), Sry expressions in the bone marrow of the recipient mice were detected by PCR. Serial-section analysis of Y chromosome fluorescence in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry with CK18 or RCA were performed to observe the differentiation of bone marrow-derived stem cells in the I/R injured kidney. Results At 15 d after BMT, PCR analysis confirmed the presence of Sry gene expression in the bone marrow of the recipient mice. AT 30 d after BMT, Y +/CK18 + and Y +/RCA + cells were detected in the renal tubules of the recipients. Conclusion The microenvironment of the injured kidney can induce BMSCs to differentiate into renal tubular epithelial cells which express CK18 or RCA and participate in the regeneration of the injured renal tubule. The results suggest the clinical potential of BMSCs in the cell replacement therapy for renal failure.

Objective: To study the activities of ion channels in macrophages collected from wound. Methods:Using patch clamp technique to study the activities of ion channels.Results:The spontaneous occurrence of channel-induced currents in macrophage collected from wound can be recorded. These currents include cation-selective channel current carried by potassium and anion-selective channel current carried by chloridion. The physiologic function of these ion channels in macrophage collected from wound was discussed in this paper.

Objective To study the physiological properties of a potassium channel in the basolateral membrane (BLM) of proximal tubule. Methods Nephrons were dissected from rat kidney under a stereoscopic microscope. The standard configuration for single channel tight seal patch clamp technique was used to record channel currents from the BLM. Results A kind of potassium channel with low conductance and inward rectification was easily recorded in the BLM of the proximal tubule. The channel current occurred spontaneously in 81% seals made on the BLM. In the patches, with no spontaneous channel activity, the channel current occurred when the pressure increased. In the inside out configuration, run down was present in channel activity. The open dwelling time constants of the potassium channel were 0.524 ms and 5.087 ms, while the closed dwelling time constants were 1.029 ms and 16.500 ms. Conclusion A type of potassium channels with low conductance, stretch sensibility and chemistry sensibility, presenting kinetic properties as two opening and two closing states, are widely distributed in the basolateral membrane of proximal tubule.

Objective　To study the effects of irradiation and W11-a12，a kind of repair-promoting drug，on anion-selective channel in membranes of mouse peritoneal macrophage. Methods　The activity of anion-selective channel was recorded from cell-attached patches with patch clamp techniques． Results　The effects of irradiation on anion-selective channel in membranes of peritoneal macrophage included：①decreasing the mean number of activated channels by the presence of zymosan; ②prolonging the mean time from stimulus to the opening of channels; ③depressing the opening of channels by decreasing open-state probability，shortening open-time and prolonging close-time． The effects of irradiation could partly be depressed by W11-a12. Conclusion　Irradiation will depress the anion-selective channel of peritoneal macrophage, which may be an important way to depress the function of macrophage．

Objective To study the property of the K~(+) channels at the apical membrane of mouse renal proximal tubule cells.Methods Single-channel recording of the K~(+) channel currents in apical membrane of freshly isolated renal proximal tubule cells was performed using the cell-attached mode of the patch-clamp technique.Results This kind of potassium channel appeared to be an inward rectifier,and its limiting inward slope conductance was(11.4?0.6) pS.The channel activity increased with hyperpolarization.Conclusion The potassium channel with spontaneous current was observed in most of the cell-attached patches,which is thought to be involved in volume regulation,potassium recycling and stabilization of the apical potential.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility of reconstruction of artificial bladder tissue using the expanded bladder cells seeded onto both sides of a synthetic PLGA polymer and cultured in the nude mice by tissue engineering technique. Methods The urothelial cells and smooth muscle cells were obtained from young rabbits by mechanical isolation and enzyme digestion method. In vitro cultured and expanded smooth muscle cells and urothelial cells were seeded onto the outer and inner surfaces of each polymer. Then, the constructs were implanted into the subcutaneous pockets of athymic mice. At 4 and 8 weeks after implantation, the specimens were harvested and examined macroscopically, histologically, and immunohistochemically. Results The polymer was covered with urothelial cells inside and smooth muscle cells outside. As polymer degradation was in progress, the urothelial cells and the smooth muscle cells kept proliferation and converged. Conclusion Artificial bladder tissue reconstructed by tissue engineering technique has the similar properties to those of the normal bladder wall. This study has laid solid foundation for further studies of tissue engineering bladder.

Objective:To compare the differences between Chinese and Korean residential elderly depression status,life satisfaction and relatedfactors in Xiamen China and Daejeon Korea.Methods:A survey was conducted on 201 elder people (≥60 years old) in Xiamen,China and 206 elder ones in Daejeon,Korea.The Geriatric Depression Scale,Life Satisfaction Index-A Scale and self-designed demographic questions were used.Data were analyzed with t-test and multiple stepwise regression analysis.Results:The LSI-A scores were higher in Korean elderly than in Chinese elderly (P ＜0.05).In Chinese elderly,social activities (β =0.37),living status (β =-0.30) and education level (β =0.16) were associated with GDS scores,and social activity (β =-0.36) and living status (β=0.17) were associated with LSI-A scores.In Korea elderly,health status (β =-0.33),social activity (β =0.24)and living status (β =-0.13) were associated with GDS scores,and health status (β =0.32),social activity (β =-0.15) and living status (β =0.16) were associated with LSI-A scores.Conclusion:It indicates that Korea elderly have better life satisfaction than Chinese elderly.

Objective To explore the acculturative stress and the mental health status of international medical students in China and the influence of cross cultural adaptation to mental health. Methods A investigate to international medical students in Fujian Province with Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90), Acculturative Stress Scale for International Students (ASSIS) and self-designed general information questionnaire, using multivariate linear regression to identity influencing factors of mental health. Results The average score of the acculturative stress was 2.63 ± 0.81. The univariate analysis demonstrated that relative factors for the acculturative stress was the time for staying in China ( P<0.01). The average score of the mental health was 2.10±0.83, obviously higher than that of Chinese models (P<0.01). The univariate analysis demonstrated that relative factors for the mental health included gender (P=0.020), age (P=0.002), time for staying in China (P=0.000) and degree (P=0.002). Multivariate analysis also further showed that gender (P=0.000), age (P=0.000) , the time for staying in China (P=0.000), perceived discrimination (P=0.002), fear (P=0.000), homesickness (P=0.000), culture shock (P=0.000), hostility (P=0.000) and the stress (P=0.000) had a significantly influence on mental health. Conclusions International medical students face a greater cross-cultural adaptation of the pressure, which had a significant impact on their mental health. International Student Management Office shall provide more help and psychological support for the international medical students, and establish the mechanism of management of students, establish feasible model of psychological health education.
